I just got my top surgery for 2-3 weeks ago. the doctor said in 6 weeks I would be fine.
it looks great and I started to get normal colour, however I got some swelling on my upper cheast.

the upper body kinda stick out more than my lower ones like and its annoying me pretty much.
the doctor said it will fade away and it have also fade alittle but not complitely.
I wonder if theres something you can do about it or if not.

when I first had the surgery I had alittle blood gathering in one of those swellings,
they said it might fade away itself or I should seacher a doctor. it where very dark by then but now the colour start to fade away so im soon back to my normal colouring.

I have a apointment next mounth for my doctor where I will ask to look if I still got the blood gathering there and so. but im alittle concerned.

am i just to impatient, or is this normal or not?

or is there anything I can do about it to keep it go away faster?
right now I am binding with a shirt I got from the hospital, I am binding pretty lose where I dont got any sweeling and tight on the swelling spots.

The information my surgeon gave me said it could take up to 3 months for swelling to go down. I think you'll be fine. :)

3 months...
oh I see..... then its understand able..

now I got some binders left, do you think its a good idea to bind tighter at your swelling spot or not?

Julian

I'm not sure. I think you're okay to bind tighter where it's swollen and less where it's more healed, if that's comfortable for you. If it were me, I'd probably bind evenly just to make sure it doesn't swell up anywhere else, but I don't know if I'm right. :P

I dont know either, I feel like binding tigher for the top and use one of my binders slighty there, my mom say it would only make it worse I dont know..

Use a surgical binder if you're worried and check for hematomas(those hardened spots of fluid) regularly. Keep everything clean and don't strain the area around the incisions(regardless of which kind of surgery you had), and that should help with the swelling. Don't use thick layers of binding or ACE bandages, or you could irritate your still-healing chest. :(

Of course, things take time, but just take good care of yourself and that should make everything easier in the long run.

Just thinking, I had big swelling also after bottom surgery on mons-pubis, big like blobs (like dove eggs?) It's caused by haematoma, blood and fluid under the skin.
It ALL went away after about 2 month also.

I think all major surgery will leave swelling, and it will go away with time - most of the time.

And congrats for your top-surgery.

axelle; thanks,
yeah I guess im just very inpatients because im worryed about my result.
of corse I want it to be pretty and it already pretty nice but the swellings just annoying me and I am wondering if they could go away like theres nothing or if they already got away on the point?

I do think I really should wait the last couple of time to see, maybe it will also help when I start to work out..and get some mucles in my cheast?

Oh - workout... not a good idea before say 2 - 3 month I would think from various op experiences.

As to the swelling, I had asked my surgeon at the time if there was ANYTHING for me to do, and his answer was: time will take care of it. Turns out he was absolutely right.

So, I guess it's patience for you - and some normal work, - house work? it would be plenty to get a good start. Once you healed THEN start with gym chest work-out and build some muscle.

And if you on T it will help for sure, and bring better results.

I could wait for working out but it almost imposible for me not to make PE.
I am on a school where it demanded you have alot of PE of diffrent kinds, working out, sport and so
however last yeah I got it removed because I had horrible pain in my lungs and said I where about to get surgery.
I told them the first mounth after surgery I would need to rest, as my doctor said I wasnt allowed to do any sort of PE before 6 weeks.
which mean in the end of january.

but I dont know how my school will feel about it if I also cut half of the lessons this year.

Nathan.

I'd wait a while before working out. My surgeon told me to let the chest muscles reattach to the skin and that exercising would slow that process down as it could break the connections it's already made. He told me to wait 3/4 months and then start by doing some light exercise.

PE at school, eh. Well it maybe less hard on you then gym, which I thought you were planning on.

In the end you have to take it step by step and LISTEN to your body.
I had by-pass op (heart op) and 2 brain ops the last year, not to mention SRS 2 1/2 ops too.

I did some exercise, mostly walking every day for 1 hr and I'm as good as new.
In the olden days I over-did things after e.g. a badly fractured arm - and it broke again!
Trying to show off how well I was...

So I learned to listen to my body AND NOT TO FORCE IT.

I'm sure you'll get it just right by doing the same - and let no one tell you what your body does not agree to, right? :-)

Best I can tell you, my good Pirate

you have alot of physical lessons, ex swimming, sport, tennis, karate, morning running and so on.
and beside that you also has alot of things who are in some way bonded to culture or languarge.

I manly joined there for culture but it said you should have both,

You're impatient.

My chest was still swollen for probably 6-8 weeks.  It didn't feel totally normal for close to six months.  100% feeling was not restored for close to 2 years.

Everyone's experience is going to be different, especially if different procedures and surgeons are used.  I had double incision with nipple grafts by Brownstein.

I have no idea how long total recovery on keyhole is since I haven't had it.  I've had a bunch of surgeries though, and it takes a while.  Most important thing to do is rest, eat healthy, drink water and no smoking.

drink water; dont do so much but will try if thats good
smoke; never smoked
eat healthy; not currently however on my school I eat pretty healthy since our meal are pretty good, and theres a long distance to get anything unhealthy.
rest; I try.... as much as posible..
