I play Kingdom of Loathing (though I take months long breaks), and all the New Zealanders there seem to be trashed at the moment. I was confused until I realized how provincial I am, and how many time zones there are. XD

It freaks people out. I find it quite funny.
Each country thinks their time is the real time We are always a day ahead of you, the early worm and all that stuff

Instead of the giant lighted ball drop like they do in New York City there is a town in Wisconsin where they celebrate that magical moment by lowering a giant lighted piece of cheese. No wonder they call us cheeseheads.

Well, technically, due to the standardisation of lines of longitude and their relationship with time, the Prime Meridian in Greenwich is the proper time and everyone else is just forward or behind.

However, it being 3 o'clock in London, and we had the fun of Big Ben's Bongs and I saw the sky change colours down by the eye there - I can officially declare 2012 open.

I always thought that every country had daylight when the UK was in the middle of the night, was that even god didn't trust the poms in the dark
