I notice a lot of depressing topics so I thought I'd start a not-so-depressing topic. What are some things that have happened to you or what is something you're feeling good or hopeful about?

For me, I just finished my first semester in college and it was amazing. I knew a lot of people but that didn't degrade the experience any. At home no one refers to me with the appropriate name and pronouns but at college everyone used the correct pronoun and name. I emailed my teachers before class started and they were amazing about it. It felt so good to have everyone around see me as 100% male and nothing less. A little awkward when talking about boobs and peeing in urinals, but awesome that they saw me as a normal guy.

Another thing I recently got my name legally changed to Shaun Eric Birklei. I've changed it with insurance, bank, I.D., social security, college, and will soon be changing my birth certificate. Now Shaun is my name so those people that said "I'm not calling you Shaun cause that's not your name" can suck on this, it is my name.

I'm hopeful about getting a job soon. With the name change I feel more confident. The job I'm trying to get pays really good also. Hopefully within a year or 1.5 years I'll be having chest surgery, of course If I get that job. If not it'll be a little longer before surgery. But I'm thinking about the future which makes me feel good.

Also another good thing, my facial hair is finally coming in. It's coming in really well. I don't have much hair on my cheeks but under my chin and my sideburns are coming in nice and thick. I'm starting to get back into exercising as well. I hope to lose at least 60lbs. I want to get to my ideal weight for surgery that way the results are better and I can wear skinny jeans. They don't make skinny jeans in fat sizes, but I wouldn't expect them to, I mean SKINNY jeans...hint hint.

So yeah what has made you guys happy or hopeful lately? It doesn't have to be lately, just what are you feeling good about.

Wow usually I'm always in a depressed mood so I actually had to think about this one.  Well I got my video game Smackdown vs Raw 2008 in the mail a couple a days ago and I'm loving it.

Aww, I love uplifting topics!  :)

What has made me feel good recently? Trans-wise, being called "sir" in the dentist's the other day. I am lucky and often get called "mate", but "sir" made me feel very sophisticated! Otherwise, reversing round the corner without hitting the kerb on my driving lesson was good, as was completing my first workout of 2012 without collapsing in a heap till afterwards!

Going for an extra long walk (1 1/2 hr) and getting the usual looks at my legs - wearing shorts (not exactly baggy).
Small things can make one feel good, oh yes.

My hair has looked great lately. That always makes me feel good.

This, definitely. My hair is finally starting to grow out of the awkward five-different-lengths-at-once stage and into this poofy, fantastic mess that I love to bits.

Also, bought a bunch of new teas not a few days ago (have been loving on my decaf Earl Grey very much) sent two bone necklaces to someone I very much admire, and had two trips to the cemetery in the past few days (weather has been uncharacteristically nice). Going to the cemetery always makes me happy, there's usually next to nobody there, its a beautiful place and I just feel absolutely comfortable there.

This is the third topic we've got like this, so I'd told myself I wouldn't encourage it, but who am I to discourage redundancy on such a good theme.

I thought of something just now that made me feel good. There was a time when my kid was falling apart, very angry at me because she couldn't have a certain red balloon. She started screaming "->-bleeped-<-GOT ->-bleeped-<-GOT ->-bleeped-<-GOT!" at me, among other things. When I asked her what she thought that word meant, she said it meant "I hate you."

So yeah, it just occurred to me that her definition was probably better than mine at the time. Lol. Grownups have to make everything so complicated.

When I was waiting at the eye doctor today I had the manager say "I have to pre-screen this young man" to her co-worker (and that's after looking at my obviously female name on all the paperwork).  And even though her co-worker kept calling me she and her, the manager continued to call me he and him the entire time.  After awhile, though, I wasn't sure whether I was actually passing to her or if it was just that older Navajos tend not to be too good with gender pronouns.  I've got a boy in my class who lives with his grandparents and at the parent/teacher conference his grandmother called him she the entire time.  So I don't know.  It was still pretty cool, though.
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.

Having my first pre-injection blood test yesterday.

OMG OMG OMG. I forgot. Yay.

Something that's making me happy right now is that there are crickets chirping in my living room. My daughter told me she was going to separate them into mating pairs, and I was like "yeah sure whatever, you do that." One of the females laid eggs today though. Lol I'm not sure how I feel about that. But I do love the chirping.

I love cricket chirping, too - although last year we had a cricket plague here.  They looked like carpet on the footpath!

I have a story, which isn't really funny or anything but it made me feel pretty good.

I was walking with two coworkers to the liquor store, and Coworker 1 referred to me to the other one using a female pronoun, but I was cool and was just like "UMM, 'she'? Hahah what the f*@#?". Coworker 2 laughed and said she had been doing this all day, telling me about this:

Coworker 1: "name is coming by after work and we're going to BCL with her"
Coworker 2: "Uhhh, you mean name?"
Coworker 1: "Yes, she's stopping by"
Coworker 2: "name? Don't you mean HIM?"

We all ribbed Coworker 1 about it and had a pretty good laugh, especially after I said it was "just cus I'm so damn pretty" :D which is my favourite thing to say after someone thinks I am a girl and things could get awkward.

I am "stealth" at work so I really enjoy those rare organic misgendering moments that sometimes happen to cis people, but are usually uncomfortable for trans folks.
I actually always hate sharing moments like these with people who know I'm trans because they always say something like, "maybe they were picking up on something, you should be careful" even though things like these happen to cis people as well..

Today I had to speak to housing about my "violation of quiet hours.."

It turned out really well though. I was not found "guilty" of this "violation."

After our meeting concluded the dude told me one of the people wanted me to stop by their office before I left. I knew it had to be about my living in the female's res hall. I dropped in not knowing what to really expect.

Well he said I may be able to move to the co-ed buildings this upcoming spring  :o :D :D ;D ;D
