No.  Pride is a virtue that has to be earned.  Pride falls under the domain of ethics, not of metaphysics: You can take pride in the actions you take, in your accomplishments, but not in your genetics or where you were born.  You have no choice if you are born in America or in Russia, if you have brown hair or blonde hair; if you are cisgender or transgender.  You do have a choice to uphold American values, and thus take pride in being American.  You do have a choice in transitioning to your correct gender, and can take pride in that accomplishment and the courage you exhibit in making it.

Just like I'm proud of being white, blond, and blue.

To me personally, it'd be like being proud to have been born missing a limb (which I guess in a way, it is) or some other defect. That's how I see it, at least for myself, as a defect.

I'm proud of the BS I've endured to finally be myself, I'm proud of the excellent relationship I have with my boyfriend, and I'm proud of all the art and writing that's come from all of this internal tumult, but I'm not proud of the source. Not in the least.

I'm proud of the way I've dealt with my own GD but I'm not so proud of being transgender. I don't like being lumped in with everyone else because this can lead to being considered the same as everyone else. As much as I am transgender I feel like an outsider because I didn't follow the same path as seems typical....

I mean, where should I be proud off? That mother nature or God made a nasty joke when I was born?
The only thing I can be proud on is the way I picked up my life since than  and making the best of it.
yes, one can be proud on things that one did, not for a birth condition.
So, I'm defenitely not OUT and PROUD, I'm just me.

I'm out and proud in the same way that I've ceased to try to hide my limp, or the fact that I didn't finish middle school, or that my kid has only met her other biological parent a couple of times and by court order, or the reality that I'm not particularly skilled at social behavior even with tons of practice. I'm tired of keeping secrets for other people's comfort, and the more they vilify any intrinsic part of me, the more I will glorify it.

I go to Gay Pride events, but I wouldn't actually say that I'm proud to be gay. However, I'm unashamed. Yet I'm still somewhat ashamed of being trans.

Don't be ashamed of being trans! It's not sexual it's just you gender so it's quite socially acceptable.
