i was just wondering this because of course like many other's i have dreamed about having this surgery but i dont know if or when it will be possible. Im just curious if someone fails to dilate as they should, is it possible for it to close up completely or is it just an issue of depth?

I have seen an almost closed up neo-vj, so the answer is a very clear YES!

It will of course depend on the particular protocol used. In the above case it was colon-section.

The girl was not told - did not care either it seems - to dilate. Colon-section using a 'ring suture' (rather the zigzag suture)  is much more susceptible to close up. I know two such cases first hand.

It may not totally close up, but enough to HARDLY allow a pencil to pass by the vj entrance, and definately too narrow to even admit a little finger.

Depth with colon-section will be very well retained though.
Not the case with 'inversion' and 'non-inversion' protocols.

I've often thought what's wrong with just the removal of our tiresome "maleness" with nothing more replaced than the "outwardly feminine appearance" better in line with how we need to present but then again try and find a doctor who won't try and impose upon you what's considered as "normal & healthy" in the "sexual relations" dept ?

I think the mere thought of having to dilate constantly is a complete turn-off, deal breaker for a lot of non-op trans and if I happened to already be in a steady relationship with a "normal heterosexual guy" prior would regular intercourse with him then indeed be enough ? ?

It is perfectly possible to have a vulva constructed without a neovagina.  It is called the Cosmetic option and is offered here in the UK when you are arranging your surgery.  It should be less expensive, recovery time is quicker because the surgery is much less invasive, the risk of major complications is much lower.
I am sure that other SRS surgeons also do Cosmetic. 
No-one forces you to have a neovagina created.

In the UK the medics coyly refer to it as "organic dilation"        Getting poked with a male member regularly certainly helps, though they do still recommend occasional dilation - the dilators are rock hard and shaped to be most effective.

What's your problem with dilation?
Yeah, it's a bind immediately post-op when you have to do it 3 or more times a day, but that's unavoidable, whoever does your surgery and how.
After 6 to 9 months the need drops to once a week.

What....... you can't be bothered to dilate yourself for half an hour once a week?  REALLY?

If the people who went before us 40 and 50 years ago when there was NO system in place and the operations were more primitive had been such faint-hearted moaners, then you wouldn't be getting ANY operation at all - your only choice would be whether to live your life as a ->-bleeped-<-.
