Kate

Kate is just reasonably close to my male name. I figured people would remember it easier that way. Plus I can handwrite it easily, lol. And I kinda wanted something not overly feminine, something kinda "cool." I *still* have a fondness for Nicole though, and wouldn't be surprised if I change my mind when I'm filling out the name change forms, lol...

The avatar... wow, psychologists could write books on my nuttiness on about this. She's just the closest earthly reflection I've ever found  of who I feel I am, how I FEEL. If there existed a magic device that would allow my body to morph into the perfect physical expression of my personality, it'd be her.

Oh you nut.  :P Hee Hee anyways........... :D I chose the name Laura after going through a decent sized list of choices. When I was younger I wanted my female name to be Erica but that does not sound good anymore. So, after some choosing Laura is the name that I want to have. It will be so great when the day comes where that will be my legal first name.

EDIT: I chose the avatar  because I wanted something cool so I searched the images that Susans offered and I thought that this pic was pretty cool so I chose that one.

Shana A

When I first awoke to myself as transgendered, I tried a few names that started with S; Sally Anne, Sabrina, and a few others. None of these seemed quite right, so I created the name zythyra, which is based on my birth name. I like this name since it isn't associated with any gender, and that works since I feel neither male or female, but something else.

Many years ago I asked my mother what my name would've been if I'd been born visibly female, she said Alice was a possibility.

When I first joined Susan's, I used a b+w of myself that was taken in 1993, then I used a color pic from around 2000 for a while. Being a little concerned with privacy, I pulled the pictures and picked this avatar instead.

Tak

Well, my name came from Invader Zim. I've been using it since 2002 in a variety of places. The character isn't someone I identify with, I just liked the name.

The avatar is from El Tigre. My daughter loves the show and saw me looking for a picture and told me to use her picture of Frida. This post just reminds me that I watch too many cartoons with her. :D

Wow Folks,

What a fascinating collection of avatars and names!  Even when we keep our identities hidden we still share a glimpse of our personalities when we create a new name and select an avatar.

It seems that female personalities posted about 12 times as much as male personalites.  I wonder if I can turn this statistic into a dare?  ;)

Thanks for posting!

rhonda13000

"Rhonda" is my actual name.

My legal name is about to be consigned to the past; the name change paperwork is in legal process.

Picture: I had scanned through many of them and the one chosen, resonated strongly with the self.

Jillieann Rose

Oh I sorry I missed this thread.
I am Jillieann Rose.
Why did I pick these names? They are my favorite people and I used there names and my initials to make my name.
Jill is my sister. With the help of some counseling session I have remembered that I was always jealousy of the extra attention my father gave her and not me.  :(
Ann is my wife middle name. I love her so and wanted to share her name.
Rose is my grandmother name. She lived next door when I was grown up. She was my other mom and my best friend too. She would have been a great help with my TS issues.  I miss her so much as she passed away over 5 years ago. But now she is a part of who I am.

I chose Anemonie because it was closeish to the previous name that I had, yet not as obnoxious.

My avatar is a rl pic. No joke

Indeed.

That fish upon your head 'becomes' you.

I found yours to be really cute and whenever I read one of your posts, I can't help but to smile when I see it. :)

Ms Bev

Last night, I was getting undressed, and was leaning in the doorway in a denim shirt, sleeves rolled, and white panties.  Marcy said I looked like Sandra Dee.  lol....if only!
Sandra passed away a couple years ago, but I'm sure she won't mind borrowing my her image for my avatar for a while.

LOL....Sandra Dee.  One can always dream........

Kendall

Birth name Ken, Family and close friends (and some partners) call me Kenny
Feminized name Kendra
Androgynous name Kendall
Sometimes here they call me KK, Short for Ken/Kendra

Hence the Ken/Kendra/Kenny/Kendall/KK

The pictures I choose for my avatar, are the ones that I took risks, and tried some new cosmetic styling thing, that have certain aspects that I like. I have had maybe 7 avatars since first coming to this site.

gothique11

I picked gothique11 because that's something I came up with one day -- gothique, because I'm part of the goth culture, and 11 because that's my lucky number.

My picture -- well, I don't have one up yet, but when I can upload it I'm going to use my real picture.

Oh, and my real name is Natalie, if anyone was wondering. :P

reginaNJ

when I was creating a screen name for a web site I wanted to keep a name that had a first initial  the same as  my real name richard. as i was ordering cloths on line i was using R as the first name. I wanted to Rachel but the name was taken.. So in trying to keep with this logical thing I came down to Regina as I know several women that have that name and are very lovely.I took that name and have used it sincewhen monline and when buying things online and I tend to kept when it comes time for srs in the near future

amberctm

I chose my screen name as Amberctm because it could'nt really identify me. My real name is Mischa which in russian started off as Micheal then transitioned over time to become Michelle. It also has origins in Hindu, in which it means smile. My profile pic is old and doesn't really look like me anymore.

Laura Eva B

Name ?

"Laura" because I needed to retain my "L" initial so that the many hundreds of my old documents (specs, calcs, procedures, dissasertions) in the company library still bore my recognisable name !

It was going to be "Lisa", "Louise", or "Laura", an I guess Laura won because it was a name in current Hungarian useage which fitted with family ethnicity and my surname - which I had no intention of changing ... an I liked Laura best too  :) !

"Eva" because it was the name of my prematurely born and only sibling who died at just three weeks old, and would be what I'd have been called if I'd been born as I should have been ... my mum OK'd this choice because I knew it was a sensitive issue.

My pictures ... well the avatar I use here represents a blonder me than I am now and is from a year ago ... but as they say "blondes have more fun" and I'm tempted to get the bleach out, or at least let the summer sun lighten me.

I've always used real pics of me on net forums .... I think it helps people to relate if they can see a real image of you ?

My "avatar history" on various groups over nearly three years of transition ....
