Why do transsexuals mostly choose the same names?

I may be the only one that wants to be called something others don't use as a name
still I am making progress on getting others to call me "space"
I did no legal name change, but did something much more useful,
I changed my email address info.

Its not just the trans community that want to pick unusual names. Here in merry old Scotland, my generation (nominally 20-25s) have picked the most unusual and cringeworthy names for their children - theres nothing as embarrassing as hearing a mother in the local supermarket call out in broad Glaswegian "Chardonnay McGlinchy, come here at once!"

At least we get the advantage of common sense and experience to choose something suitable to be known by hehe!

For the record, my name isn't Bexi lol!
Sometimes you have to trust people to understand you are not perfect

Colleen Ireland

Five pages, and not a single Colleen! I only know two others, both Cis. I chose it because it MEANS "girl". When I asked my mom what she would have named me if I was born right, she said she never picked a girl name, she knew she was having a boy. Thanks, Mom... :P

Deanna_Renee

I just took a peak at the Member list and there is exactly one other Deanna listed. Now, I'm sure there are a few others out there who chose Deanna and use a different screen name. I don't know how popular Deanna is in the general TG population or the general population on a whole, but I didn't choose it for popularity or because it was cool, I chose it in honor of a very, very dear friend.

Deanna is a very cute name, I have a cousin, a long time family friend and an old high school friend named Deanna...have good memories associated with that name :)
Just a "California Girl" trying to enjoy each sunny day

When I was in high school geometry class, I thought that if I ever had a daughter I'd want to name her Cartesian Plane.

I'm weird.

I don't know, a lot of FTMs pick the same names too, notably Aiden (or variations of), Skylar and I've been seeing a lot of Jacks around too. I think it's because before people get involved in a community they like the names, and then when they do it's sort of a name they're already attached to regardless of popularity.

Space sounds really cool. o.o
I changed my email info, and I know people are picking up on it though only my mother has actually said something. A small yet effective step.

casca here, but those 3 names are cute

Casca is my second favorite female name just because of this manga Berserk.  ;D

Ash

I like my name, it's androgynous and simple. It can be quick and crazy or slow and natural.

It means "Ash Tree Meadow"

But I don't like being called Ashley.

If it makes you feel any better I thought Annah was just spewing nonsense. Your responding to it made me remember that's the protagonist's name in that game. XD

Ash to me is just this big viking guy I used to know. He bit my neck once and pinched a nerve and half my face was slack for a week. I'm not sure which of us was the idiot in that scenario. :)

I think I like you even more Tom knowing that you named yourself after a cat.

I did go back and research names that were being used in 1969 when I was born.... That's one thing I think is important.  Not too many "Brandii's" (Note the two "I"'s) back in 69!  LOL.  It should be age relevant.  But of course, I didn't like a lot of those names, so I kept researching until I saw that Aubrey was starting to be used in the late 50's and 60's as a girls name.. (It's roots are of male descent.. go figure).  It was an offshoot of Audrey.  But there was something with that that just clicked....  And it flows with  my last name.

I slept on it for a while, and I still liked it, so here I am!  Aubrey!
