I would trust Spiegel in a heartbeat, he did my surgery and he did great. You need to give yourself proper time to heal to judge your results, and that takes a year or more. Also try not to let your body dysmorphia cloud your judgement.

XOXO

You're beautiful... Did Dr. Spiegel do that or did you just have that natural beauty before?  Do you mind if I ask what you had done?

I had brow bone reduction, hairline resetting, jaw and chin contouring with Spiegel, I also had my nose done some time ago.

I am a very visual person...... and unfortunately, no matter how much I try, I still see the male in my face.  I'm having the work done in August.  And my chin is wide for a girl, and my jawline is harsh for a girl.  It was fine as a guy, but I'm not a guy any longer..... and I really want to see the feminine, not the masculine.  So as it was said before, I am taking the masculine away.

I understand what this surgery entails.... I am a little scared. I am doing virtual FFS pictures to show the doctor what I am looking for.  I think that is a big help, and it is a big help to me for what to expect. (At least a general idea).  Do I wish I didn't have to do it? Sure...  But I believe I do, and it comes down to not wanting to see the guy I've seen for 42 years in the mirror any longer.

And you're beautiful Elle......   :)

elle i bet you were very pretty / androgynous beforehand so you already had the building blocks for a hyper feminine appearance :P

I dont think I was that pretty, I definitely had some weird moments, but nowadays I definitely feel 100x better. I dont think about it like I would before, before it would be a thought process of 'this will make me pretty, that would look pretty if I wore it, etc.' Now its sort of a universal mentality (being pretty) not in a vain way, but I dont really bother with hair and makeup often, I've barely even entered my 20s, so to me its all about hair up in bun, good face moisturizer, and some fabulous heels!

Feeling better is why people should do this.  :)

I think their point was, you didn't start out looking very masculine, which I agree with. With some effort, you would have been passable without any FFS, now it's effortless. Some of us need some FFS just to make it where with effort we can pass. Using your face as an example might make someone with a very masculine face believe they can look that pretty, there are limits on what can be done..

OMFG!!!

Ok, maybe this Spiegel character does know what he's doing... :-)

4 days to go... I'll find out soon enough!

3 days to FFS....  :-\

I was just studying the pictures of Dr. S's patients, and I can see that the outcomes are exactly what he promises: to remove masculine features.  That's *it* -- nothing more, nothing less.  If your face doesn't look feminine when you remove those features... well... that's what you look like!

It's *very* consistent.  You can see that he removed the features in the exact same way for everyone in terms of things like the shape of the jaw, the depth of the brow protrusion, shape of the nose.  Very, very close for every single person.

What he's not offering to do is sculpt a feminine face.

It also answers the question of needing to tell him *exactly* what you want:  he does one, very specific thing, and you can't change it much.  If anything, the piece of blame for unexpected results which rests with him is not being very, very direct about his process.  If someone says, "I want this and that specific thing," maybe he could forcefully recommend them to another doctor.  But, he's selling a product, so caveat emptor.

I'm just trying to reassure myself, really O_o.  If I went to someone who did sculpt faces, I would be a lot more nervous since I'd have to idea what to expect.  I'm certainly not defending him, BTW -- I'm just offering a thought to chew on for anyone trying to decide.

I dunno... comforts me a little to know he's consistent.

That sounds like a good way of doing it as you will still look like "yourself" after.

You look absolutely stunning elle. Any chance of a pic without glasses and before pics, especially before nose job?

This has been the single most helpful thread I have EVER read. Thank you all for sharing so much. Sysm29 thank you so much. I too am unhappy with my chin and brow. This thread has been a huge help.

I went to Spiegel I thought he and his staff were great, it was the nurses at the Boston Medical Center i didn't care for. I thought the surgery was painful but not the worst thing in the world, I didn't even finish all my Vicodan!

PositivelyAnna

Yeah, I wrote a complaint letter about the nurses. They were evil bitches.

I wonder whatever happened to sysm29 and if she's doing ok. This was a really informative post. I think sometimes people get really caught up in surgeries and what they need to have done. I like how she prevents a view counter to a lot of other views that are like "GO GO GO!!!" It's well thought out and gives people things to think about.
