What's the best thing I can do to help change my voice. I've been searching on google for a voice coach in the Phoenix, Arizona area and only seem to find singing coaches. One girl also mentioned a woman on YouTube that was really helpful I can't find the post now and wish I would of bookmarked it.

Hi Serena,

Here are a few links from our forum and internet & several youtube videos that may head you in the right direction and be useful. Kathy Perez is mentioned or a part of these.

A few years ago I found this person, that Annah also mentions, her name is Candi goes by candiFLA, this is one of her voice videos, a fun and pretty transwoman.

Melanie Anne Phillips, I discovered her site a few years ago, this & her videos on YT are awesome. heartcorp.com is The Transgender Support Site. Here is the link to her page on voice.

The message is be careful, do voice exercise for a short period of time each session, don't overdo.

Hope these help.

Here's my silly little tutorial.  Nothing real ground-breaking in there, but I pitched in a few things that I personally find useful.  Just thought it'd be fun to do! :-)   And it was a good excuse to try singing like Lou Rawls.

This site produced a good list for your area.

When I was looking, I explained that I am a male to female transsexual looking for someone who does voice feminization therapy and mass emailed it to everyone in my area. I got 2 responses from therapists that do this plus several responded with info about others they knew who do this in my area. I also talking to the local colleges that have speech therapy as part of their curriculum but none of them here do TG voice work.

I really liked the second one I talked too and it was well worth the time and money taking lessons from her. I took about 10 sessions over a few months, once a week at the start and then later once a month. I know some people teach themselves but I highly recommend you see a speech pathologist for at least a few sessions to get you started off in the right foot. This other person was right, don't practice for long periods to start with or you can damage your voice. You have to work up to doing this for long periods of time. I also noticed my adams apple has mostly disappeared from my voice training, which is a nice bonus.
