AN ACTRESS "cried every day" when she had to wear a fake penis in her new TV series.

Chloe Sevigny plays Mia - a pre-op transgender hitman - in Hit & Miss and had to wear the prosthetic genitalia, which she admits she found very upsetting because she was worried men would no longer find her attractive.

"I cried every day when they put it on. You know, I'm ample-chested and I have this on. I felt very exposed, and it was hard, very hard, having people so close to your personal parts anyway - who you're not sleeping with - for an hour-and-a-half each day, to put it on," said 37-year-old Chloe, most recently seen in TV series Big Love.

There are women who cry every day because they can't take theirs off.

seems like she caught a glimpse of dysphoria there...

No worries. I have never found her attractive.

Seriously, it's just a prosthesis for a role...I can understand discomfort and even embarrassment, but crying over her attractiveness seems a little overboard.

Heh. I thought she was playing a trans man because they called her a hitman. Is there such a word as hitwoman, or are we stuck with the PC term hitperson?

I can only dream of taking it off at the end of the day....sigh

  That's sad. With how fast technology is & all the advance stem cell research, hopefully it shouldn't be long until scientist's can clone & grow an actual penis for a F to M patient. She must of been upset that she couldn't have a real penis & was crying. I never heard of her or him but he should hold strong. Also, with the technology it would be nice to grow female sex organs for a M to F patient.

Seems an odd comment. Most actors sort of know they are acting. I wonder if male actors have dysmorphia acting as females etc?

I'm sorry. I misunderstood. So, she was sad that she had to wear a fake penis, not because she was sad that she couldn't have a real penis. I thought she was a F to M, but she was only acting. 

I find the whole idea of making films or TV shows about people who commit murder for money to be obscene actually.  Why is it okay to do that and not show people making love as graphically?

I don't understand. How often is she going to be filmed full frontal or nakid? Whenever I'm not in the shower or in bed, everything is tucked. Is she going to be going around with a lump in her front? Is she tucking the prosthetic? If so, you don't need a prosthetic. Sigh.

I don't know much about acting but perhaps she uses method acting and actually "got into the head" of the transgender character.  Hopefully it means that at least for her, she might have some empathy for transgendered people.

Yea.. try living with that thing on you since day one. no taking it off, no crew to put it back on, it's there for good until you can get a surgeon to do something about it. I don't think there's any woman here who hasn't thought they were unattractive because of it.

Some actors are like that, I remember stories of how the late Heath Ledger got too deep into his roles which caused problems in his personal life. I wouldn't attack her for saying how she felt, try to look at it more positively, She (a biological and mental female) was uncomfortable knowing something was there that shouldn't, Isn't that a little validating for someone who is only the latter half?

Don't forget it's also be the people having to put it on and take it off on a day to day basis, You know? I'd feel pretty unhappy if my job involved people having to fiddle with my private parts.

i agree. she signed on to be an actress which is all about playing roles that are NOT really who you are in real life. she should either quit or grow a set, literally.

also, does anyone else think it's ridiculous that when an actor/actress acts as the other gender for a role in acting and people consider it a "brave act." i don't think there's ever actually been real transgender people to play the roles of transgender in cinema. people who actually ARE transgender irl, get treated like scum for the most part.
