Hi. This is a pretty funny conversation; I totally relate. I'm probably older than most of you. I grew up in the dawn of the Los Angeles punk scene back in the late 70's and early 80's. I was a regular at the shows that included The Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, DOA, Agent Orange, MDC, Suicidal Tendencies among many others. For a couple of years I played steel drums in a harsh punk band called Zendik Farm Band. It was a wild, crazy, exciting time to be alive!
These days I'm more of a human Barbie Doll than hardcore punker. Though my waist length dark hair is loaded with bright streaks and highlights of electric pink, bubblegum pink, electric blue, raspberry blue, purple, burgundy, caramel, chocolate cherry, lavender and jet black. My hair gets a lot of attention whenever I step out of the house.
I still get my yayas off most every day, rocking my house off the foundation with my 300 watt-per-channel sound system, rocking the neighborhood to the sounds of Suicidal Tendencies, The Queers, NOFX, NIN, Fugazi, and Limp Bizkit, among others. I may be a human Barbie Doll by image, but my heart will always belong to hardcore punk.
Thanks for letting me share. What a fun conversation!
Peace,
Miharu
