I was riding my bike and a hippie looking guy called out to me,"hey my brother", as I rode directly by and then passed him he changed it to,"sorry my sister". I said, t"he first one was good" and waved. I'm pre anything and was wearing my binder for the second time. I have wavy shoulder length hair still. When he called me his brother it was like a shock of electricity right in my gut and a warmth started to spread out from that. it abruptly ended when he tried to "correct"himself but it felt fantastic while it was there and I'm pleased I can pass at all right now in any situation, even that briefly. Iv e been told by people who are used to looking at me that they think when my hair is cut I'll pass l well. I'm still tring to figure what haircut will look best on me and read as guy instead of butch dyke. When I was young and had short hair that I would think of as butch dyke cuts, not mens cuts and was wearing nothing to try to hide my chest our trying to pass I got sirred quite a bit.thats encouraging to me. Anyhow it was cool, it felt great while it lasted and even after he changed his mind about my gender I felt residual warmth and glow.i grinned all the rest of the way to my destination.

Congratties ^,^. That first time that they use the right pronouns is always special... not to say that the second through hundredth times aren't special, either, but anyway - something to savour!

I think the first time it happened to me, I was just confused, as I was presenting male (with long hair) at the time.

I have had many occasions where people would gender me correctly in male presentation, and I would usually wonder why it happened.

The most confusing event so far was one time when I was chillin' with a group of girls, one of them who had just arrived (high school) runs up to me yelling "womaaaaan" and grabs me for a hug. I really didn't know what to think at all...

congrats :) I had the same thing happen last week...I was getting food and the guy said I'll be with you in a second sir :) then I spoke saying its ok I dont know what I want yet anyway and he said omg I'm very sorry ma'am, I'm really very sorry >:(. I didn't correct him and say he was right the first time though I just got food to go instead because I became extremely uncomfortable with him saying sorry and stressing ma'am over and over.

I hate when that happens yesterday I was walking to work smoking and this guy comes up hey sir, could i get a smoke off you? I said sure, here you go and he apologized after hearing my voice. Kinda irritating sometimes.
