I find it hard to believe that people loose height but it may be more to do with aging that HRT. I've been on HRT for over a decade and I've never lost any height.

I find very easy to believe, like many many here over the years have posted and ended up shorter in transition then before, including myself. I was once 5,5 now less then 5,3 and who really care if it is age or hrt the end result is something many of us can be happy with and that is what really matters.

Regarding height loss, you may find similar height loss in groups who are not transsexual. You need a control group. One starts shrinking after the age of 30 for a number of reasons. People even find that their height loss or gain corresponds to weight loss and gain . If it's osteoporosis then you're storing up a lot of problems for the future. Personally,  I wouldn't be happy about that.   :( Just don't count on HRT making you shorter (is that a good thing?), especially if you're young and healthy.

Personally, I seem to have lost half an inch on HRT, and I'm young (started at 26, now 28) and healthy. I think it's mostly just from muscle loss leading to the bones compressing a bit - I sure hope it's not / don't think it is osteoporosis. Also half an inch is a fairly small percentage of my total height (I went from 6' 3/4" to 6' 1/4"). I'd be surprised to see a big loss in height for youngish healthy people too.

Also, I would really rather not lose anymore height. I'm not even particularly happy about the half an inch I lost. Seriously, why do people want to be short? Height is an advantage for like... everything. And most people, at least in my world, find height to be attractive, regardless of gender. Hell, I got catcalled yesterday as "nice pretty tall lady" by a young Jamaican bloke, for people who like that kind of thing.

Height, for those of us who got it, is one of the very, very few physical advantages that we get out of our horrible testosterone-induced puberties. Stop bitching, go model. :P

I used to be 5' 10" and really worried about passing as a result. However, over the last year I have lost 56lbs in weight, and i seem to have shrunk down to 5' 8" which I am delighted about. My shoe size is a 9, so not terrible. i have a long way to go to get to my ideal weight so hopefully that'll be a couple more inches off the height too.

I know plenty of genetic girls who are 6ft or over. I've learned that passing is as much about confidence and body language as it is 'looking the part'.

I'm 5'4 and tbh I see much more women taller than me than shorter than me and I work in customer service.

It's only been 8 months on HRT too so it's to soon to tell.

I am 5'6 so while a little tall I still fit in easily, I'm shorter then all my girlfriends, most of them are pretty tall. But my feet are a little large, size 9. It isn't hard to find shoes that fit. I'm not on HRT yet so I don't know if I's going to shrink or not.

I FOUND THIS THREAD VERY INTERESTING.

Almost all are living either in US or Europe (UK and other countries nearby, and also Australia and NZ.

But the problem is not to be tall, actually is a gift,

I am 6.0 ft flats which means on the tall side as i cannot wear nothing lower than 5inch high heels, and now the pumps comes with a 1.5 or 2 inch platform which make the shoe arount the 7inches aprox, making me supper tall, but the other women are also tall as the heels are for all, so that variable is constant.

then the other point is depending where you live, well it happens i live in China for example and i am not chinese, so you all can imagine the foreign tall girl in a skinny pencil fitted skirt and toned legs in high heels walking down the sidewalk window shopping....yes all people stares all people notices, the avg is 5ft as tall people here, but i found out that they do stare at me cause i am tall and maybe atractive according to my friends that loves so much, on times i believe that and feels really cool, not kiddin taxi drivers and many people  passing by just pull over to check me out and on times try to ask me for dirctions, because my rule is not to speak for me not to give my self away, i just ignore by pasing by earphones and with my sunglasses when is the day or playing with my phone when is the night.
My  GG and CD friends who knows me, tells me that i look very beautfull and is very good to be tall and even wearing high heels is even much more atractive (which i think my arranging and passing is not really perfect but as my race is white not caucasian nor chinese is much more diffcicult to see  if i am a man or a girl, when my body shapping is flawless (sometimes), even if my beard shadow can be vissible on times, is hard to conclude.

this exercise of walking around and actually walking tall with the elbows toward the body and feeling on the top of the world, is the key to giving yourself selfasurance and motivates more when you know you are fulling everybody. (this is a tip for the closet cds o TV)

I am straight and before  i  started to go out fully enfemme, during the day and in pucblic, i was not really knowing the art of makeup and body shape togehter to the best outfit according to my physique and age, now is really fun and i know i most of the time look pretty than only tall and big.

so it depends where you live but most important how you arrange, your shape ,your curves padding etc, and the makeup level you skill.

the walking and postures the voice, the jewelry etc counts one thing wrong will give you away, but certainly is not the height nor the shoes,
for the shoes i am 10 us, fortunatelly my feet is not on the big avg, but also i try to avoid flashy and white colors on pumps or boots, it looks weird big shoe starting from 8usa, so imagine a size 11 or 12, most of my shoes are dark color and reds, my boots are also black or brown, the material prefer leather and sweathe it looks very natural classy elegant and sexy, i have one pair of 5.5 white pv spiky metal heel pumps and they look very big when using them with a skinny dress or skirt showing legs, so i bettter avoid it. those are to cosplay.

Lately in USA the ladies are big tall and heavy with all respect but true, and is getting this fenomenon more and more, as a sugestion is product from the excess of consuming softdrinks, bread that is not bread and most of the processed food, together with the size of the portions at the restaurants, is a pitty that most people feel that need to eat all the portion served at applebees or carrabas when is actuall a family portion, then getting used to that make more hungry after an hor or so and is an endless bad habit, actually is difficult to find large sizes now, "L" so i thing is a plus to all cd and tv that we dont look off from the avg.

bottom line if you ara tall is not a problem problem is if your wear something thatdoesnt fits you well according to the size, age or phisique. and the level of how you arrange your makeup hair, outfit etc, movements etc

As for being tall, eh... the Dutch are a tall people, so I really don't stand out that much around here. When I am visiting my relatives in Michigan, yes, then I am taller than most women. In either case, that is the least of my worries.

I'm 5"8 (1.74cm), Dutch and pre transition  I was called 'shorty'. 1.74cm is kind of short for a Dutch guy but 1.74cm is considered tall for a Dutch woman and yes, sometimes people tell me so.

And yes, I too see a lot of  Dutch girls/women who are much taller than I am....and it makes me wonder what people tell them about their height.

All you short girls make me green with some serious height envy.

Screw the flying car, I am far more devastated that no-one's invented a shrink ray yet...  *winks*

I'm 5'4", size 8 shoes.

I've definitely shrank. I hadn't seen my sister in 5 years, and this week I went to see her. I used to be an inch taller than she was, now I'm an inch shorter.

Out of curiosity I measured myself the other day. Measuring yourself isn't necessarily the most accurate way of doing it but oh well. Anyway, I used to be 5' 10" (1.78m), but now am about 5'9" (1.75m). Probably due to "old age" more than anything else (I am 44).

Veronica,

Yes. You have experienced the same things like me. A lot of people ask me for directions, and some of them even honk at me in their cars. I am really tired of it.

I am 183 cm (6 feet tall), with usually US size 10 feet (264 mm). In crowded city like Seoul, I can see some women as tall as me, because nowadays the average height of young people here becomes taller and taller. But, at my home town, an island, people tend to be shorter compared with the mainland people, making me look more striking. However, I can see a few tall college girls at my campus.

At my home town, 2012

Whether I am in my country or in Germany, people pay attention me. Other factors other than my height do matter. For example, wierd clothes that do not match with the weater there. When I visited Hamburg, Germany, in April 2011, the weather there suddenly became colder, and I found that I alone wore short pants.

At Hamburg, 2011

My male friends tend to ask like "why do you wear high heels even though you are already so tall?" My reply is "to emphasize my leg lines". Women comment like "Your heels are higher than mine!"

Before HRT I was slightly over 5'10 but now im about 5'8-and-a-bit.

Ive still got some to lose but in my opinion ive got bigger things to worry about than my height :P lol! I have fairly small feet too (UK 5/6) so i don't have too many problemos.
