Kaitlyn

Hi everyone,

I first joined the forum about a year ago, but I kind of disappeared after a month or so. It seems a lot has changed both here and in my own life, so I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself anew. I hope you don't mind! :)

I'm (still) a college student living in Illinois and studying engineering... fun stuff ;p . I'm also an MtF transsexual living pretty androgynously and passing both ways while I gradually transition. It's been a long process, and I've only slowly come to understand the me that was hidden for all these years. I suppose that's one of the best things about a college campus... being a little deviant is not all that noteworthy!

I've been in counseling/therapy for nearly two years now, and I've been taking hormones for about a year. Most of that time it was "under the table", but I've seen a doctor in the meantime and my hormone therapy has continued under her supervision. By the end of this year, I will probably be going full-time also. I guess it probably seems like I've done a lot, but I actually was in a bit of a slump for a lot of the time between when I was last on the forum and now; one that I've only recently escaped from.

So that's basically the reason I've finally come back. Visiting this forum helped me a lot at the time, and I think it's a community I'd like to remain a part of~

Welcome back Kaitlyn. It is said college is an ideal place to transition, it sounds like it agrees with you too. Good luck on the engineering studies. That kind of job will help pay for future transitional needs. ;)

Hugs,

Rhonda

Hi Kaitlyn

I'm an mechanical engineer who transitioned at my current firm.  So it is possible to be employed as an engineer and be yourself too.  I have had great support from the people at work.  Good luck with your studies and your transition too
