Realizing that the object I have always had in my possession continuously for the longest amount of time is a mounted shiny blue butterfly that my father brought me back from Brazil when I was 12.  (I loved butterflies when I was a kid.)  I have a few things from earler in childhood, but they were recently given back to me by my parents.  I have never been without my butterfly, even throughout college, many moves, a nasty car accident while moving cross country, etc.  I have always had it with me.  It's on my wall next to me right now.
Seriously, of all things- a butterfly.  My spirit animal and a symbol of transition.  What was I trying to tell myself this whole time?
