Sooooo, last weekish I posted a topic on here about coming out to my new landlady and housemates, and I just wanted to thank everybody for all the advice and, well, guts by proxy they gave me to just do it.
Her reaction was pretty much: "Yes, and?"
Which was not at all what I was expecting ("homeless" would be a good one, actually) , but after posting to this and other forums and having a long talk with my best friend about it, I decided that, if I was going to make the decision to be true to myself, that meant being true to others as well, and accepting whatever consequences came about as a result. (Impressive run-on sentence, that... ;-)
I still have to tell the new house-mates, but as my land-lady said, if they cannot accept it, it's their problem, not mine. (I started to bring up the point that it would actually end up being HER problem on account of people moving out and leaving empty rooms, but she just shrugged that off - go figure :-D ) So as soon as I can manage to corner them for more than 2 minutes, I think it's only fair to let them know as well... just need to figure out the best approach on that.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks so much to everybody who responded. It felt great to just put my SELF out there instead of hiding like I have done for the past 25-odd years.
