Americans love Peanut Butter and that can be difficult to find outside of North America....
Of course in Australia the UK you have your beloved Vegimite and Marmite.
I have yet to acquire a taste for them.

That's good timing Danielle, I've just finished a couple of buttered crumpets with marmite on. Can't get much more British than that!

Haha, yeah, Marmite is a very divisive thing. I fall firmly in the camp of "love". It's very savoury. If anyone in the UK ever ate something called "Twiglets"... or even pretzels, that's similar to what they're coated in.

I have never tried Vegemite, though.. Maybe @Sarah B could enlighten us?

I have never been massive on peanut butter, honestly. Mostly because the stuff I've tried has all tasted like it's mixed with sugar. Peanuts aren't supposed to be sweet. I like peanuts as a general rule... but the stuff in jars all tastes like it went to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. It's hard to find a good jar of unsweetened peanut butter in the UK.

Do you have anything where you live, Chrissy, that's like a staple and little known thing? Like... seared osprey burger, or fillet of otter... or... you know, something like that?

I never knew about those things.  Unsure about anything specific to this region that is a specialty or something.

I would rather use a strawberry preserve or strawberry spread (for less sugar than what must be used for a preserve.)

A "yeast spread" does not sound at first blush to be appealing.

Try some Jif brand peanut butter.

Crunchy or smooth.  Another big brand in the USA is Skippy.

Some thoughts on these speads
The Americans do not know what they are missing out on and when they try them as far as I know they hate them, why?  They slather it on so thick they puke.  For us Aussies and maybe the British we start out very early on life with just a very tiny thin amount and eventually we have layered it on thick, so to speak.  Me?  I have put it on so thick and ate it and then watched others try to copy me and seeing there faces is priceless!  Promite is sweeter and Vegemite is stronger I don't mind which one I have.

Best Wishes Always

PS Americans do not have anything like what we have in the way of these types of spreads.

By the sounds of that, I would probably like Vegemite. :)

Never heard of Promite, though. It sounds like a type of concrete.

Bovril is... haha, it's a very UK thing. It's like... a watered down gravy that people drink, like tea. I never got the taste. Oxo, on the other hand, I have ate those cubes when I was a kid. But then I was a very weird kid.

Love me a mug of bovril with black pepper on a cold day. Bovril is also canny spread on beef sandwiches and as a marmite substitute for toast and crumpets.

Isn't marmite a by product from brewing beer?

Maybe you would like to eat SPAM.  It is made from pork and ham.  It has spices.

I love Spam Chrissy! A quality paupers tea! You can get battered spam fritters and chips from the chippy too, they are next level! easy to do at home too if you ever fancy it. Our school used to serve them for school dinners when I was in middle school, lush!

Not here you can't. I think I saw a video where Jason Momoa was showing a couple of english lads around a fast food place in Hawaii, pretty sure he mentioned they had spam. Was a very funny video.

Would still prefer to go to the chippy though even if they did.

The stuff they sell at McDonalds here, you wish it was Spam. I'm not even sure it's edible half the time.

I've always wondered if it is as crap over there as it is here. Begs the question how it ever caught on. Wimpy was much nicer and more civilised. Your food was served on plates with cutlery!

Yes, ChrissyRyan is very correct... in my opinion the very best brand of Peanut Butter is Jif
Their television ads say that "Choosy Moms chose Jif"

I always keep the following in my home:  Extra Crunchy  and  Creamy JIF, and Ritz Crackers.
