The supermarkets which stock it have the ingredients, but... they are really very simple. They don't use like 50 different kinds of additives.

I had some that I think was Colmans Brown Mustard. I'm not a fan of mustard, except on burgers and hot dogs with ketchup.

But it has an interesting use that I was experimenting with: it corrodes copper. I had cut some copper plate into strips and rolled them into rings. Brush some of that Brown Mustard (mixed with ammonia and salt) in stripes or patterns, and let it sit for half an hour. The mustard mix leaves a patina where it was.

It's been a while since I've had a restaurants hamburger. I can't guarantee what the meat is and the calories are insane.
When i was younger I would go to Jack in The Box. Order a Ultimate Cheeseburger with extra cheese. 2 beef patties, 2 kinds of cheese plus extra cheese. And onion sauce. I wouldn't poop for a week after.that

I shall attempt to find this product.  A quick glance shows that I can buy the powder at the market but not the ready made mustard.  I will endeavor to look into this further, I may need to buy via mail order.  I would rather not have to pay about $5USD for 100grams though.  But I guess if it comes from far away, I should expect a premium price.  There are international markets and perhaps the Trader Joe's has it in the store, all I can see online is a hot honey mustard.

Also, comments at your Web site provided show that some think the mustard used to be very hot, but not so hot any longer.

It makes horseraddish seem like Mayo chrissy! Lauren is right, it's as potent as a strong wasabi. definitely stings and clears the nostrils! Nice taste though. It is the only original spice in the UK, until we discovered the delights of India of course (then omg did we run with it!) we became so addicted to it we took over the place for 200 years!

You do have to wonder how on earth Mcdonalds burgers have so many calories. If I make one at home it is nowhere near those lofty figures.

It is likely the sauces and cheese plus the bun.  Beef calories should be beef calories about anywhere for the same fat content and portion size.  They do not soak the beef in butter.

You cannot guarantee the restaurants use all beef. There are fillings and extenders to get more patties out of a quantity of beef. .I think it was McDonald's that got hit because there beef patties did have much beef.

I think you're right but a lot of the bigger chains say "beef" patties.

I did some work at a winery years ago and depending on wording can mean the wine is aged in a stainless steel tub with a giant oak tea bag in it all the way up to in oak barrels.
It gets tricky on the wording

I saw a HUGE wooden barrel that years ago held wine in this castle.  It was somewhere in Germany.  Apparently there was a tap system that fed the wine throughout the castle.

There was a massive food fraud scandal in the UK in 2013 when it was discovered that a french meat processing plant was using horse meat in products labelled as beef🤮

It was cheap processed things like frozen burgers and lasagne. The meat came from a Romanian abbotoir and was processed in a french factory but they all knew what they were doing. I have never eaten that type of processed food before but you have to wonder if we in europe and the UK, who have very stringent food safety regulations, can fall foul of this type of fraud, then what are these factories really serving to us?

Ever since then I buy all my meat from a local butcher who displays the names of the local farms he is getting his meat from. I have security in knowing the meat is what it is and as a bonus it tastes way way nicer. Costs a bit though.

I wonder sometimes why I talk so much about food here.  Much more than my clothes or shoes and such. 

I just have to trust that the food I eat is what I think it is. 

I know we have lots of food recalls here in the USA.  You wonder if sometimes workers handling produce wash their hands after using the bathroom.  Lots of Listeria recalls.

Speaking of not washing their hands after using the bathroom, I saw a waitress not washing her hands in the restroom.  I reported that to the manager, I told her that was very unsanitary as she came out of the other stall.  I saw the manager talk with her, presumedly about that. I did not see that same waitress in the dining room while we were eating.  Gross. 

Sometimes I wonder what you do not see while your food is being prepared in the kitchen.

Alligators scare me.  So do crocodiles.  So do snakes.  I have not eaten any of that.

Why do so many foods taste like chicken?

I suppose when chicken does not taste like chicken, there is a big problem.
