Face apps

I know there are some older threads about using face apps but has anybody played around with them?

I tried a few today but only found one you don't have to sign up to.

Wow. The result fixed my eyes, straigtened and feminised my nose, and gave me lip fillers.

These are all things I want to do.

My face had some surface treatment but not much change.

My hair was almost identical, just some colouring.

Obviously some makeup but the scary thing is it looks like me just a beautiful version.

Like a really beautiful version. The sort that makes me want to transition tomorrow

Early in my transition, I used FaceApp to help figure out how to do makeup. I would snap before-and-after screenshots and compare them. Then try to replicate what I saw in the photo.

Later, I used it again to try different hairstyles and colors to see what looks best for my face shape and skin tone. Then went shopping for wigs!

They can be very helpful!

Be careful, these apps are frequently just mining your data.

I found that FaceApp raised unrealistic expectations.

I prefer Copilot. Upload a selfie and it gives me a critical appraisal of what can be done and a shopping list of the required products. Then a step-by-step guide on how to apply them and finally a kind and affirmative report on the result.

i tried faceapp for a while early on. It produced totally unrealistic images in my view. Inspiring yes but not really achievable I thought. Try Google Gemini first, in my opinion it produced bettter images.

I showed it a pic of me in minimal makeup and asked it to re-imagine me at 12 stone, and I think it did a much more realistic image than faceapp ever could. You can really be specific about how you want to alter your image as well. Dev has a point about data mining but in all honesty can any of us really avoid googles clutches, they've probably got all our data by now anyway and could probably tell us the name of our unborn kids ha ha!

I use Face app paid for version. It's fun to play around with. But I tried Google and it created me female and gave me a list of makeup products. Face app changes your face and is only good for making pretty pictures. I don't see it as creating a image I could realistically achieve.

That had limited value when I was unsure if I was trans, but I would not touch them now. Many also required a subscription and often clearly were being paid commissions by cosmetic companies.

Call me cynical, but I always roll my eyes when it comes to sites like that. I would rather get real-world feedback. That has been far more beneficial.

AI seems to do that. With FaceApp (paid version), I used the Gender Swap feature to see what was changed. It didn't change facial features, but softened the skin and applied makeup, so I found it helpful to learn what to try.

That's what it did for me too.
Wrinkles removed, hooded eyes reduced, but I could still see me... well her. Her for the first time.

I don't know if it is feasible for me to look like that, but if it is I want it.

I'll look at posting the pic here later.

I am hugely distrustful of AI, and the obsession people have with it these days. I only have one question. Do you think what it showed you is realistic? These things only go on inputs. Not necessarily from you.

I don't really know what is possible. I need to show it to a surgeon and see what they say.

I don't even trust that crap when it comes to fixing up writing/typing. There are so many times it THINKS I am trying to say something else or it doesn't get certain things revolving around emotion when writing a story. It's going to be so great when we no longer have drinkable water so some trash can spit out incorrect rubbish. EDIT: I just found the perfect example. So many times it doesn't understand that "LOL" is not the beginning of the sentence. Stupid friggin' AI rubbish.

I think I used one once or twice.  It did not make me look prettier.  However it did not have much to work with.

I am sure these things have their  contructive uses... perhaps as a guide when speaking with a doctor regarding FFS but, I've always thought these things had a lot of addictive potential and could easily leave one feeling a bit empty and depressed.
