the original concept of the nature of
the "siblings" was boy/girl/boy/girl

the first 3 kids are all born in may
three years apart.... evidently
august was a very fertile month for me

AD was born 26 months after E-man

we have been thru a lot as a family
our older 2 kids were SA'd in our congregation
and each of them has had ongoing issues
(both in their 20s now and moving forward)
the older, correction, make that only
daughter has multiple mental health diagnoses
and their father and i have both had substance
abuse issues.....

i am pleased to say i am sober
18 yrs 6 mos 3 weeks 0 days 21 hrs 33 min
as of this moment but who is counting....

so.... this brother, the one just older than AD...
he is sick of his sister's borderline issues
he is sick of his father's drinking
and he just doesnt want to deal with "this new cr@p
about AD being transgendered or gay or whatever!"

i took him in to the "bigger town" and spent time with him
getting essentials like shoes for school and eyeglasses
to replace the ones that BLEW OFF HIS FACE when he
stuck his head out the window of a moving car!!!

when we stopped at the local food co-op
i just looked at him and said "E-man, i know you
think AD is trying to get attention with all the stuff
going on, but i am here to tell you that this is not
some kind of stunt like ana would pull.... (sister)

gender dysphoria is a legitimate scientific explanation
for a disconnect that occurs embryonically when there is
a screw up in the endocrine messages a developing baby receives.....
the brain gets one message and the body gets another...
and what happens as that baby grows up is that their mind KNOWS that
it is in the wrong body and life becomes this attempt to fix that error...
so can you try to appreciate that for AD...."
there was a little bit of colourful language, all in jest, but i believe
it is considered inappropriate to repeat it here, but he was gracious, ultimately

he is a smart kid, in spite of evidence to the contrary
like losing his glasses out the window.... sheesh!
i think he will rally to the cause since they are going
to have to go thru the gauntlet of high school together
for at least 2 more years

hopefully he has a clearer picture of what AD's issues are
i saw them head off together to sit on the roof of one
of the outbuildings.... that is where they talk about
the things that matter most

crikey... somedays are just sooo long
