So going into transition can be hard. Styling can make or break you in you passing. Why not share tips here. Maybe someone with a similar body type or style can get some great info =).

Some tips ive either read or learned from a friend.
Tucking: Take an old pair of jeans maybe the old boy jeans your going to throw out. Lay them flat on the floor and take some scissors and cut through the leg like a triangle keeping the circle intact. Take some old boy undies something like old navy tidy whities. Cut the elastic out and you should end up with two circles. You can loop them together no sewing or anything and you can slip it on like a thongue. If done correction (width) It should feel comfortable and no pinching.

Shoes: I love heels I am 5'11 and don't care =). Some shoes are so slippery you will end up falling. I used to use hair spray on the bottom of my heels so make them somewhat sticky on the bottom so i would slip and fall =O.
Flats or sandles are very fashionable as well if you cant get away with heels =).

Bottoms: Skinny jeans are great, especially if your tall with long looking legs.

I've always like wearing skirts like this...

I feel like it gives the illusion you have hips and gives you somewhat of a shape. I also love very very girly styles.

Tops: paired with skinny jeans you may want to try a fuller top like tunics. Try to avoid closed neck tops ones that hide your neck . V-necks, scoopnecks, and ruffles break length of the torso.

Accessories: When I wear earrings that are more noticable (feathers, hoops, or chains) i dont wear a necklace. It can be too much. Always think simple.

I am sure there is way more to be said. When i think of more ill share =).

What's that kind of skirt called? The illusion of having hips would be nice lol  :D

It's a ruffle skirt. Ruffles also work on a bathing suit. If your lacking in the breast area having a top with ruffles over your breast gives the illusion your bigger, I learned this from tyra =).

Not meaning to bring up bad thoughts, but maybe this is one reason you feel like you couldn't pass if you tower over others in 3' heels? You get a lot more scrutiny when you r very tall

I also like to wear petticoats under flowing dresses that tend to hug your hips when you walk so it helps camflouage the bulges. And don't forget gypsy skirts.

Accessories: When I wear earrings that are more noticable (feathers, hoops, or chains) i dont wear a necklace. It can be too much. Always think simple.

Follow the simple rule: 2 out of 3.... 1) earrings 2) necklace 3) bracelets. Choose two to pair together but never all 3 together.  It can be 1 + 2, 1+3, or 2+3. And think balance - if one is heavy or multiple, make the other one lightweight and single (such as if you wear lots of bangles, make the earrings or necklace single and simple, or if the earrins are dangly chandeliars, keep the necklace or bracelet simple, so on) Rings are optional, but the less the better

well done

The skirt is cute, I've never been a fan of jeans though

Accessories is the key word here.  They have to match otherwise women will notice.
Black tends to make you look smaller, and white makes you look larger.  I try to avoid white tops unless they are summer type loose ones, as they make my shoulders even broader than they are.

Helpful thread.

Also there's plenty of other blogs on the internet(yay internetz) on how to dress an inverted triangle body shape.
That tends to be the overall shape a lot of us have, broad shoulders, thin arms, straight waist, narrow hips and flat-ish butt.
Just google "how to dress inverted triangle"

You'll find great tips (:

Yes heels with skirts are great. I would say wear a shorter heel. That way you can make your legs look great without looking too tall.. Besides heels i love a good pair of wedges which are a bit more comfortable than heels to me.

I am not a jean and tshirt kinda girl. I have to right now because thats all i have. I would rather wear skirts or dresses, but tights during the winter.

Also on bras i buy mine from Aerie. They came out with the new drew which is the best pushup ive had. Adds 2 cup sizes. Even an A cup can have cleavage. I am not sure where to get a bra if your a more curvy girl. Maybe someone could share that =).

Much thanks Nathalie!  Your fashion taste is tres excellente!  Bookmarked in my fem stuff folder. :)

EDIT: This is a fashion site I enjoy- I hope it adds constructively to this wonderful thread:
lookbook.nu

Some of the fashions on that site are kinda dumb though.  So if it looks idiotic it prolly is.

Much thanks!  Bookmarked!

Also, this may seem dumb, but it is something I learned last night- to make eyeliner w/eyeshadow, you can mix a little water, or even better makeup sealant into a paste with eyeshadow and apply it with an eyeliner brush.  Not clothes/makeup/accessories but still useful I think. :)

Any tips are welcome =).

When i get my income tax I'll probably get some items like these =).

My new love is Hello Kitty. They were selling this at Forever 21.. I am so a teenage girl on the inside :P

Under accessories you can never go wrong with a great headband =). They are also great if you have short hair, It can add a little something.

A tip about shoes-

If you are * trying * to pass in public, don't wear heels, wedges, or any raised shoes, even if you really really feel tempted or want to sooo badly.

If you feel you are passable or don't care about passing, then go ahead and knock yourself out with stilletos. lol.

Personally, I prefer wearing kitty heels - short enough not to raise me too tall (I'm 5'6), but still has a heel to help me sway sexily and click away (and easy to walk in them for a long time)

A big tip I can give.. Dress appropriately to your age ...

I am in my early 20's and I love wearing heels too..

My favourite boots are my black knee highs.. they have a 3 inch heel and look great when I wear jean or pants. When I wear skirts I wear a more sandal type of shoe or a pump.

Heels have there place.. and I will admit most of my shoes are heels.

I will wear a skirt or a dress over a pair of pants anyday..

I love wearing Lingerie.. but been pre-srs I am limited to what I can wear.. I would love to wear a sexy g-string..  but there not much packing space.. but some thongs do fit and allow me to tuck.. I love the feeling of a thong. its wierd at first having it ride up you bum, but you get use to it..

I love push up bra or any sexy bra.. the sexy underwear is for me and its like a sexy secret that only I know about. I prefer a underwire bra, I feel it gives my girls better support and they look better. I have larger B cup breasts.

on the accessories side..

I wear earings.. my ears are pierced.. I recently got a second set of holes done in my ears.. and enjoy picking out earings. I am getting my navel pierced soon..as lots of woman my age have it done and I really like the look.

I dont wear braclets or anything on my hands.

I grew my nails long and do wear nail polish.. my toes are almost all the time painted.. I love red nail polish especially on my toes. I fingers are mostly painted with clear nail polish with white tips.

Something that helped me pass.. was styling you hair into a female style. I grew my hair and then had it styled in a female style and that helped me a lot.
Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was

+1 for headbands.  I'm so jealous of the beautiful headbands my friends own, they look so wonderfully feminine.  Also, can't speak enough to dressing for you age and body type.  We had a transwoman that came into my store for many years.  The only reason she was so easily read is because of her clothing choices.

Natalie, you have wonderful fashion sense.  I can't wait to see what more you do with this thread!

If you have the figure for it, rock it!

Just remember to cross those legs when you sit. Not everyone wants a show....
