Oh.
That sort of sensitivity doesn't often come to mind for me when I'm writing a post or speaking to a person, so considering a person's feelings is often an imprecise act with me. Considering thousands of peoples' feelings is even more tedious. I imagine there is always a person to take offence to anything I can possibly say - perhaps even this message. It's just the nature of human diversity, and the world would be pretty boring if it were any other way.
So... I just try to be accurate, to contribute new opinions or solutions when I can, to expand upon what I imagine the most helpful pre-existing advice may be, and attempt to be helpful if the need arises. If my intentions are misread, and my attempt causes more harm than good, my posts are often ignored... however, I do accept the eventual possibility of a confrontation based on a misunderstanding. With that in mind, I am comfortable with accepting the risk that I may offend someone with my opinions, because I have faith in my ability to repair a misunderstanding if and when it happens.
In light of this, I have considered including a reminder in my signature to the effect that everything I say is my mere opinion, and that it shouldn't be taken more than lightly under any circumstances. Though, stating my general philosophy was more fun, and assuming that people don't need this reminder aids my level of faith in humanity. That, and the reminder itself could be taken offensively if someone sees it as condescending...
So, I apologize, as always, if someone took my opinion too seriously. Sometimes, communication is a minefield.
... and I guess I have to apologize for this post. It's lengthy, off-topic, and melodramatic. 😛
