Wow Devlyn, I am amazed.

I just quickly had some pasta with olive oil for dinner -- was in a rush and had no pasta sauce.

Firstly a quick dip in my Heated swimming pool in my new bathing costume (one piece!), plus a glass of  Sauvignon Blanc, then it will just be about time for the main course - A Home made Beef & Mushroom Pie (light flaky pasty,) plus a Beetroot, Tomato & feta cheese side salad. Then a Chobani Light yogurt (Strawberry flavour) washed down with a glass of Australian Shiraz!.
Temperature today 34C

  I had a surf n' turf dinner at Chili's consisting of a half rack of baby back ribs and grilled salmon as a birthday treat.

i had a small bowl of mashed potatoes with some cheese and scallions in, with another small bowl of vegetables. finished it off with some banana, almond and hazelnut bread with some vanilla, caramel and peanut icing. it was amazing to say the least. i usually skip dessert since it's not really a common thing here, but we have tons of this banana loaf since we have a guest here and dear sweet lord it's amazing

Well, the lamb was like leather and the wine was corked, so it went down the sink. Afternoon wasted.

I hope my pizzas work out tomorrow.

JillP;

My god what a waste for a fine Bordeaux. The 1982 is reputed to be one of the finest Ducru Beaucaillou produced after the 1961 and before the 2003 of the all-time great Ducrus, probably matched or eclipsed by several recent vintages (i.e., 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2008). My Vintner reckons that the 1982 is still  about 6 years away from full maturity.

So sorry it was corked.

My wine guide says it exhibits a dense ruby/plum/garnet colour to the rim as well as a sweet perfume of forest floor, spice box, cedar, and copious quantities of black fruits. Medium to full-bodied and beautifully pure with sweet tannins.

The price for a bottle here in Australia is $799.00

I'm so bummed. It was a gift given with much love, but it tasted like "who put manure in the jacuzzi".  We had a 1973 Heitz Martha's Vineyard instead.  It was past it but drinkable.  Anyway, I still plan on drinking all of the great 1982 Bordeaux before I die.  I'm totally saving the Latour for my 50th bday.

My famous pizzas from scratch.  I even grew the herbs and tomatoes in my garden.  Someday I'll learn to make my own mozzarella.

Someday.

Note to self: buy dairy cows.
