Remember when Barack Obama got criticized for wearing "mom jeans"?  :P

oh no!  whatever will he do!  now he will get slammed for not wearing enough makeup to his state functions, and the government will oust him in a vote of no confidence!

cute anecdote though it may be, all you gotta do is open an issue of cosmo to see what women are expected to do to make the consumption of their bodies by society more socially acceptable.

Yet Hillary Clinton is still in a high political office and was recently praised for her intelligent discussion about the attack on an American embassy.

Men and women get criticized for their appearances. Women just make a bigger fuss about it.  ???

jeez, they were trying to be cool. Making problems out of nothing, either you want the hate or you dont. They were trying to put you at ease. This is a case of completely blowing something out of proportion. The other lady is being ridiculous too and if we look at it we are all minorities somehow. We were also born into this world. As people, all with problems. Jeezus

I can kind of see both sides. On one hand, personality, when someone tells me "it doesn't matter," it does make me feel like they just told me part of my identity doesn't matter. On the other, it is (usually) meant well and I think it's best to take it as such.

feminism, to promote equality among the sexes. hmmm, as a lady I know that I respect men and women. I am not in this to destroy men like some of you lesbians. Even though I am mostly one myself. At the end of the day women dont want to go out and build bridges and pave roads. Want equality? Go put shingles on the roof you live under. Oh, yeah the "good" high paying jobs are the ones you want. Being able to wear what you want, vote, be respected, isnt enough. Yes women get paid less than men in the same positions, that is changing, but still where are the ladies out there paving roads and hanging sheetrock? Oh yeah they arent there. Blame it on society, but hey its the way it is. We(both genders, sexes, sexualities, races) all have our issues. The problems you make are your own. Some people like to take on other's problems, some people are politicians. Give respect to the elders and the trailblazers, but dont dwell on it. People dont need to show me weird respect for being trans my whole life. Maybe another trans person, but people who treat me with respect will not get a bad vibe from me. "oh you dont know what being trans is like" of course most people dont. Its not my job to educate people. Im no activist. Im am a person doing normal things. Simple people, even if you have a broad perspective.

Transtrender, I can barely tell what you are saying, too many big words, I cant figure it out.

oh yeah, "we lesbians" really are the root of the problem here, huh.

being able to wear what i want?  say that again when women don't get sexually assaulted and it gets tacit acceptance from society.  say that to me, because it's happened to me.  is that "my problem"?  should i have been "not wearing such provocative clothing"?

being able to vote?  i was verbally harassed and intimidated the first time i tried to vote, because it was at a time in my life where i was perceptibly trans.  how much can you really say someone has a right to vote when there are polling booth gatekeepers that do things like stop people with unmatching gender markers and presentations?  the right to vote only exists as long as they also have the right to exercise it, and sometimes that's revoked.

as a queer person, as a trans person, i have no legislative protection from discrimination in employment or housing, in either my home state or my parents' home state, where i grew up.  my sexual assault is most likely to have been ignored by the system had i even had the courage to report it—something that happens to most women, but especially trans women.

call it equality when things actually HAVE changed, not when things "are changing".

What you want is to change outward things to get what you want when all the change needs to come from within. Also you want to change the world, good luck. You want to wear something provocative? Wear it somewhere safe. It is what it is. Do what you want. Understand the consequences.
We live in great times of freedom here. Mostly people like us do not face the discrimination unless we bring it onto ourselves. Sure, its tricky sometimes, but so is hiding a penis in a dress. I live in the conservative south, I thought coming out would be horrible. But its not! I dont prowl the hood in huge heels and a miniskirt at night. And sexual abuse? It can happen to ANYONE ANYWHERE wearing anything. Yes, sometimes we need to be prudent in our decisions of what situations to place ourselves, but hey welcome to life and welcome to life as a lady. Would it be nice to have a peachy world where everyone was enlightened and lovely and magical and supportive? Yes, but its not the way it is.

Ps, voting is all bs anyway, so who cares?

First, voting is not BS. If you want anything to really change in the US, you need to vote to make those changes. I do not think it is good to tell someone that their choice to exercise their right to vote is BS is a good thing to do. You may not agree with it, but there is no reason to put it down.

Second, you basically just blamed sexual assault on the individual being assaulted. It's not their fault! It is the sick, twisted person who performed the assaults fault. It's views like that that keep people from reporting it because, sadly they will not be taken seriously.

People should be free to wear what they want in any place they want to wear it. That is equality.

It is not lesbians who are causing issues, it's the bigots who refuse to accept them. People need to learn to love and accept everyone no matter what their differences.

so basically TL:DR would be that everyone's life sucks and we should all just be nice and try to get along, Feminists can be just as insane as the patriarchal society they want to take down, and Trans* people are still near the bottom of the heap. Is that about right?
