Could I get away with buzzing my hair and remotely have a chance of passing?  Does my hairline seem unusually high already ?
You could try it, but if you want it that short you might be better off with something like a tapered or crew cut that would give it a bit more shape. Or just stick with the style in the 2nd photo you posted and keep it trimmed :P No more dilly-dallying!

Be weird. Be random. Be who you are. Because you never know who would love the person you hide.

Spacerace: In my opinion you should avoid buzz cuts like the plague. We tend to have smaller heads than cis guys and it can be hard to judge overall hairline.  Buzz cuts accentuate a smaller head and while they can seem like a go to for a masculine look, more often than not they wind up looking more feminine than masculine bad-ass. Short, but not too short is, in my opinion, the best way to go. There's a fine line between short and masculine and too short and you're in Sinead O'Connor/Alien3 Ripley territory and it becomes a more feminine look. Even cis guys can't always pull it off. When Matt Damon was growing out his hair after shaving it for Elysium, for a while it looked pretty awful until he had decent length.

Imo your hair in the 2nd pic looks great for the age you're passing at.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah...I should avoid buzzing it I suppose. Too bad. My idea was to keep it that short to make sure my hair was as far away from my face as possible to help with acne (just starting T)

I'd guess 25.  I'd believe anywhere from 20-30

Thanks! That was older than I was expecting. :) Glad I'm not a teenager any more, that was bad enough the first time!

Just curious as to what age I'm passing for in this photo.

I'd say around 26-ish? Certainly above 22 - your haircut works well to show off your male hairline, which helps make you look older than your face alone would imply

I'm at my year mark On T  ;D and August 29 I have my top surgery with Dr. Garramone. Can't wait to see more changes. What do you guys think?

Congrats on 1 year and top surgery - you look great and pass well

Thanks. Yeah, the thing about male hairline is that I'm starting to actually lose my hair. It's noticeably thinned out on top just immediately to either side of centre. When I get my hair cut I ask them to try and hide it as much as possible. I'm turning 30 this year, which is really young to go bald, but I'm trying to come to terms with hair loss. I'd still rather be a balding man than any woman.

You've been on T awhile right? I think a lot of trans guys deal with this starting around the 2 year mark from what I have seen.

What about finasteride? That's my strategy for when this starts to happen. People seem to have success with it.

Yeah, it started around the 2 year mark for me too. It's been 2 years 4 months on T now. Who do I ask about finasteride? My endocrinologist? I'm just a little nervous about it counteracting the T, and also mood changes since it's been reported to cause depression. I don't want to mess with my mood more than I have to, since I have bipolar.

Yeah, you can ask your Endo about it. Just do yourself a favor and research the benefits/side effects. I'm almost 8 months and my hairline is receding a lot at the temples and thinning a bit in the center. Of course it's due to DHT but that is also the same thing that is responsible for lower growth, body hair, and facial hair. There are a lot of cis guys who have sexual side effects (even shrinkage) from it but there have been no studies on us as far as that goes. I made the personal decision to keep my wiener and let the hair go whenever it does. I've started keeping it buzzed the last 6 months or so and it seems to help with the thinning being overly obvious at this point.

Thanks. I'll ask about it, and consider both sides.

Also, this is the final version of the shirt I modified. I also changed the binder underneath to fit the shirt. Any thoughts?

Really, I just want to find a way to wear tank tops without getting top surgery.

I don't know Nygeel, I don't think it would work unless you had like a button up shirt undone over it. I think it clings a little on the moobs even with the binder on.

I don't think that's exactly it...and I really really really just want to wear a tank top! D:
I think it's maybe the clinging and the general fit. I took in a bit at the shoulder seam and some in the armpit...

Joe.

What about if you wore a baggier tank top Nygeel? I think that might help a bit

Baggier would mean larger armpit holes, the front would be much lower, and the straps would be further apart. Meaning my binder would be very visible. I altered the shirt and my binder in an attempt to make my binder less visible.

It does seem to cling in the chest area, but that may not be a big deal. I have been binding less and using sports bras more, and you can definitely see my chest, but I still pass.
  •

Joe.

If anyone says anythin about the binder, you can say it's a compression shirt you wear because it helps compress and support your muscles because you get a lot of muscle pain in your back/chest.

Yeah...with binding and shirts that fit I pass the majority of the time but I do get the occasional crumminess where I'm not seen as male. Going to hit the 3 year mark soon-ish, too.

That really stinks :( But, your facial hair has come really far so I imagine the misgenderings are happening less. I only started passing a few months ago (I'm about 15.5 months on T) and pretty much anyone who is remotely familiar with trans people misgenders me still. -_- It's pretty hurtful when it happens and since you're approaching the 3 year mark it must suck even more than it does for me lol.
