I noticed that my natural eating capacity has actually dropped with HRT. While I sometimes have cravings, I no longer need to eat quite as much to satisfy my stomach to the point of acquiescing to my attempts to stay thin.
Main thing I did to drop my weight initially was to be very picky about fat content. Natural oils etc. were fine in low amounts, but any processed food was examined rather carefully. I also started exercising a bit. Nothing drastic, meaning 5-10 minutes only, not to burn calories per se, but to simply get the metabolism started up a bit.
These days I sometimes kill the yelps emitted by the food centre in my brain by eating a small portion of ice cream with pumpkin seed oil (sounds weird, I know, but tastes really nice with vanilla or similar). Loads of fat there, but at least the type of fat is healthy-ish.
