Does estrogen change your eating habits, or the foods you crave?

I have never been a huge chocolate lover (I don't dislike it, but I can take it or leave it) ... I sometimes go into "sweet moods" but I usually crave ice cream, slurpees, cheesecake and such.

This evening I had a chocolate treat.  I tasted soooo good, it was almost like I was suddenly addicted and didn't want to stop eating them.

It did for me. Between it and progesterone I was craving all kinds of un natural things. Even put on 10 pounds

I've been eating pizza like every night (holy crap) I love that stuff right now ARG.

And pickles. Garlic pickles are the bane of my refrigerator.

I made fun of my wife's cravings when she was pregnant ... I have a new respect for her restraint.

And I cannot afford to put on any weight.  My endo wants me to lose quite a bit for health reasons.  I am so fat it's not even funny  :(

I pigged out on chocolate too

To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

Protein and carbs.
I've been eating carbs like there's no tomorrow. So unhealthy (for blood sugar spikes) but they taste so good!

Before I went to pharmacy and bought a box of estrofem, I savoured a really big and tasty cone of ice-cream as some sort of farewell... I am keeping strong, as recently my partner wanted the icecream-juice cocktail, so I made it without doing those "unnecessary" test-sips :P.

Otherwise, I would really want some crunchy potato chips and other junk, but, well, no... :P  I can live without them and I dunno for how long time I will be enjoying the benefits of fast metabolism...

I can't say my tastes have changed, but I seem to have an appetite for 'more' now. Which I have firmly clamped down on until I reach 160 lb.
Don't lose who you are along the path to who you want to be.

Hasn't changed my cravings (though my doctor is ramping me up slowly - after 5 month I'm still only on a half dose of Spiro).

However my body gets a rush in response to chocolate that I didn't experience before HRT.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

The body needs carbs in larger quantities than anything else, actually. Also, since you're redeveloping, it needs it for energy.

I noticed that my natural eating capacity has actually dropped with HRT. While I sometimes have cravings, I no longer need to eat quite as much to satisfy my stomach to the point of acquiescing to my attempts to stay thin.

Main thing I did to drop my weight initially was to be very picky about fat content. Natural oils etc. were fine in low amounts, but any processed food was examined rather carefully. I also started exercising a bit. Nothing drastic, meaning 5-10 minutes only, not to burn calories per se, but to simply get the metabolism started up a bit.

These days I sometimes kill the yelps emitted by the food centre in my brain by eating a small portion of ice cream with pumpkin seed oil (sounds weird, I know, but tastes really nice with vanilla or similar). Loads of fat there, but at least the type of fat is healthy-ish. ;)

HRT did not change my eating habits, did change my appetite, much larger, and I put weight on MUCH easier  :(

have to be very careful about that,so I exercise more, yoga and walk and stuff. Low fat diet, and lately I have become Vegan which really has helped me  :) makes me feel like a better person also.

+10lbs and it all went straight to my butt. No complaints!

Also on progesterone + estrogen.

Hold on I think I heard someone in the other room say "cookies" ~dash~

Have trouble eating dairy now, plus my portion sizes have dropped considerably as my stomach doesn't want to accept anything past a serving size or there will be consequences.

I haven't been on it too long (only 6 doses so far), but I have noticed that I haven't been as hungry.  It seems my overall appetite has diminished; although, I do notice hunger pains are more intense when they do come about.  Also, my sense of smell in general has improved which has made eating more desirable even though I don't feel hungry as often.  Kind of hard to explain.  Then again, it all may be head because I've been on it for only a short time period.  Still, I have been eating less and losing some weight (which is needed in my case).

Could be the side effect from the medicine as a medicine. Lower appetite I do believe is a side effect. Not the best side effect, but one that helps if you're trying to lose weight, which you said you were.

I have a schizo appetite that goes up and down but no matter what I don't gain weight and have hovered at 135 lbs for years.

Definite change in taste and its quite normal. Also a burden has been lifted since I started HRT and I have been happier and with that my appetite has increased - and weight gain is is easier.
When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

My appetite the past 6 weeks has been off the charts. I've gained about 10-12lbs. I got a little bit around my waist but most of it went straight to my butt... I mean this thing is starting to look rather curvy and I am loving it.

I've also been doing a lot of bike riding with considerable cargo weight as of late, so that's probably adding some muscle on my legs / glutes as well.

And also, I always loved chocolate... but now it seems kind of different. Like.. the flavor literally explodes in my mouth and sometimes I get chills if I taste a good piece of chocolate after not eating anything for a while.
