The final fantasy series seems like they have very deep and compelling storylines, though the recent FF game sems to have gotten some criticism.  The games overall seem very interesting (and the graphics are beautiful), but they are a little bit too deep for me.  I'll stick with shooter games.

Sadly, one of my earlier exposures to FF was the fanfic "Cloud and Tifa Mows The Lawn" so I would never be able to play the games with a pure perspective, at least when it came to Cloud and Tifa....especially Tifa.

To me, FF will always look like this:

Yes and no.

One of the maddening things about the games is their general lack of continuity.  :-\

They're more of a series in spirit only. Every game has a plot independent of the rest.

Shadowgate!! FTW!!

Deja Vu was also an awesome game. I would always slug the mugger as many times as possible and make sure that I had only a few quarters on me so he didn't have much to steal.

I loved those old adventure games.

And then there was Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom  ;D

Qwynne, you're making me sad now lol. Nostalgia much. I still need to install an emulator on my PC because a lot of games I like won't run in 64 bit.

I never heard of that one.

"Many growing seasons ago, there was a place where vegetables lived happily, and in perfect harmony. One day, Minister Pumpkin betrayed King Broccoli. He kidnapped Princess Tomato and stole the Turnip Emblem. He took them to his castle in the Zucchini Mountains. He sent his cruel Farmies out to terrorize all the vegetables in the Salad Kingdom. Shortly thereafter, the poor King died from the loss of his beautiful daughter. But he promised you, brave Sir Cucumber, the Princess' hand and the kingdom if you bring them back safely. God speed Sir Cucumber! Hurry! Saladoria is down this path. The Zucchini Mountains are over yonder."

Go forth and emulate. Even not knowing it, I guarantee it'll fill you with nostalgie.

:D No chance of that. My lappy is getting old and I doubt very much it would run anything like that. I can't even run long form videos on it anymore.

Oh well....I'm going to ride this pony until it drops dead.

But, as far as nostalgia is concerned, I looked up the wiki page on that game. When I checked out the release dates for it, a few things came to mind:

May, 88 (Japan release): One thing pops out instantly:

Funny how life works, eh? :D

I was in 5th grade and still diggin' this show (even though it had been in re-runs for quite awhile by this point, but I didn't care.) Everyone was asking me: "When are you going to grow up?" :D They are still waiting. :D

As far as the North American release date goes, I have 2 words:

Napalm Death.

By this time, the Gang was no more ( :( ) but I was diving into music in a big way, so I had something else to occupy my mind. I had recently purchased the "Death By Manipulation" compilation cassette and hearing the B side of that tape, in particular, blew my mind. The "Mentally Murdered" EP has one of the best Grindcore guitar tones EVER!!

Brilliant....

Ah I see.  I suppose it would be really confusin if there was a continual storyline, and turn off for newbies.

Oh god, that fanfic!

I really don't think it'll affect how you see the game or the characters, once you start playing it. If you couldn't tell just from reading it, everyone's wildly out of character. I personally thought that fic was hilarious. I think I found a pretty funny dramatic reading of it on YouTube a few years back, too.

Oh, and I think the actual title is "Cloud Mows the Lawn," if anyone is curious enough to Google it. I don't know if I want to ruin the fun by describing its "plot," but I will say that it's NSFW, so beware.

Lol "Malachite, how did you get into the Final Fantasy games?"

Me:  "By the fanfic Cloud and Tifa Mows the Lawn"

Haha!  I first heard of the story when I saw the Fanfic Critic read it when Arch Angel Assassin was there.  Their reactions were downright hilarious. The third chapter was awful and turned my stomach though.

Charley Bea(EmeraldP)

While I have my new first name and middle name/s picked out when it comes to my name change I keep flipping back and forth on whether to change my surname or not. My parents are fine with me keeping it but my mum(haven't discussed it with my dad yet) says she understands my reasons if I do change it.

Gah can't make my mind up.

I need to live on a planet with 30 hour days. My body lives on a 30 hour clock and it wrecks havoc with my sleep and work.

Maybe I really am an alien. I wonder where KAT world is.

The only FF game I've ever beaten is FF 10. It's a really good game.

I've played a bit of 12 and 13.
Manchester United diehard fan.
