I've been watching that gal with the sword on "Walking Dead", she's my favorite character so far because she's so fit, mentally alert, focused and intuitive, all the traits the whiner ex sheriff is totally lacking and she's a total badass head whacker with that sword. Diana if you can handle your sword like that then you're on my team sweetie!  :)

woops just saw you quoted me Auntie Shan , sorry for late reply LOL

i love THE WALKING DEAD !!!!!!!!!!!!! Michonne is one of my fav character !! She is so fierce ... one of a kind ... cant wait till Oct when the show returns !  :police:

300 Savage w/7power leupold- this was my Grandpa's old rifle, great deer rifle
mini-14- first generation so it only shoots .223 and not 5.56mm floppy sights and floppy bolt.  replaced my 30-30 for my "behind the seat rifle" I keep the cheap red-dot mounted on it
marlin semi auto .22- this use to be cheap to shoot...  still fun though, great for teaching people
the-everyone-has-one-now AR-15  this has the basic goodies chrome bolt/barrel, flat top, m->-bleeped-<-ul furniture, I like the detachable carry handle for nostalgia's sake. I have the 4 power scope on it a lot of the time
XD-M 3.8 .45- this is normally inside the waistband on my right hip.  165gr hydra-shocks when I'm in town, 230gr+P hollow points when out and about
springfield "loaded" 1911 .45- my pretty pistol, match barrel tritium sights Hogue grips for my baseball mit hands

some guns I have lost due to usually really stupid, but sounded smart at the time reasons:
Winchester 30-30
M1 Garand match-  (my brother all but stole this)  it was issued to my dad's uncle, he was on the Marine Corps shooting team (1000yd match).  My brother has found pictures of my great uncle holding this rifle standing next to next to Carlos Hathcock, cool sentimental value.
.38 special officer edition- we think this was "issued" to the same great uncle...
Winchester .270- shot well, great for hunting, boring to shoot, tags are hard to get in Nevada...

does the XM-218 >:-), the M-9, and the M-16 count as lost for dumb reasons?  I was Marine Corps air-crew, they were what I was issued.

Sig Sauer 1911-22 .22LR

Pics to come.

I travel a lot for work, I keep a safe at my moms house for my guns while I'm gone. I finally got around to adding a bunch to her insurance, her agent called wanting to know why the value of the guns exceeded that of the house.  :-\ I migh have a problem. I took 7 classes last year, everything from advanced pistol to PSD work from former Blackwater guys to CQB operations with a SWAT team and an MRAP. I was trying hard to be the bro-est bro to ever bro.  :P

Not bad. I also saw one that was similar to a corset. As much as I dislike shoulder rigs and similar it's better than keeping it in a handbag.

Being in a decidedly sedate corner of the UK, where this isn't really the done thing, I find the idea of gun ownership a very weird thing. If someone owned a gun where I live, they'd be looked at in a very odd way, lol.

However I'm genuinely interested in why folks who have posted here decide to own a firearm. Is it for protection? Because you like the aesthetics? Because you can? Or something else?

Educate an uncultured, oafish Brit. :)
Hmmmmnn, let's see. Why do I own firearms. Well, it's kinda like this. If someone tries to rob or harm me and I had to defend myself, I wouldn't want to break a nail. Oh no, no nail breaking while dealing with lowlifes. They just aren't worth the hassle, lol! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Just a lil humor y'all, lol!

Ally ;)

Why I own (and carry) firearms:

I don't like being a victim of violent crime. The firearm is a huge equalizer.
It's my right.
Shooting is fun.
It's stress release.
We have dangerous wild animals here, black bears in particular. One of them killed a hiker over the weekend in the woods up here. Bear spray works but a firearm is a good backup to have. I do not hunt and I don't like hunting. It's purely about personal defense for me.

As for the safety aspect:

Mine are either locked up or on me. Ammunition is stored separately, except one I keep ready for home protection.

I have taken many hours of training and I hold carry permits from several states. CCW permit holders are also statistically less likely to commit crime than the general citizenry.

I obey the four rules religiously - every gun is always loaded, finger off the trigger until ready to shoot, never aim at something you aren't willing to destroy, be sure of your target and what is behind it.

I often like to take new shooters to the range. Most of them like it. It is highly disciplined and safe.

"For transpeople, using the right pronoun is NOT simply a 'political correctness' issue. It's core to the entire struggle transpeople go through. Using the wrong pronoun means 'I don't recognize you as who you are.' It means 'I think you're confused, delusional, or mentally I'll.'. It means 'you're not important enough for me to acknowledge your struggle.'"

.44 Ruger Magnum Blackhawk. Bought back when I used to backpack in the Cascade Mountain Range. It does little good to call 911 when some cougar has you on the food chain or some enraged Black Bear sow is coming at you. Bells only means it's chow time and pepper spray is simply seasoning for the feast. My standard load is 240 grain jacketed hollow point, shoots at 1450 fps.  :D
