Quote from: StrykerXIII on April 27, 2015, 12:10:36 AMI was expecting ladies with buff biceps. I'm mildly disappointed Don't own a firearm yet, not psychologically stable enough to trust myself with one. This may be a good place to ask for advice for when I can be trusted though.I have muscular and neurological damage to my right hand from a freak accident that led to hospital staff having to dig glass out of a wound half an inch deep. My weight limit on that arm is about five pounds now - the wrist gives out in what I can only describe as an explosion of pain and stiffness if I exceed that amount. I'm not too bothered by it, being a leftie, but I know that most readily available semi-automatic handguns are right-hand eject, meaning that if I used one with my left hand, I'd get a smoking hot shell thrown out at me. Found that out the hard way with my dad's 1911 Combat Commander. I feel like I'm limited to revolvers, but even then I fire two-handed, so I have to watch the recoil to avoid injuring myself again. My question is, what's a good caliber for a revolver? One that I can use with one hand without any trouble if needed, but won't kick hard enough to hurt me if I use both hands? My dad and uncle suggested a .38 Special, but that's a bit...small...for my tastes. I was considering a .357, personally, but I don't really know - the only weapons I've ever used were a bolt-action .22 long rifle and the 1911 mentioned above. That .45 hurts, definitely.
Quote from: Zumbagirl on April 27, 2015, 11:12:43 AMOne of the problems I have come across is the art of concealment for women. It's a tougher nut to crack than you might think. I keep thinking about getting a flash bang holster for the summer, but then I sit back and think, maybe not. This girl "faliaphotography" has a great youtube channel on conceal carry holsters and the problems that women face. There is also tactissy as well. She has a lot of great reviews on guns that are good for women. There are a lot of options for women clothing that help prevent printing. It just takes some studying. So far I have not gone all crazy on holsters and am keeping it simple for the time being.

Quote from: Snöfrost on April 27, 2015, 03:40:30 PMI've fired the Swedish AK4 (7,62x51) and it has a pretty nice kickback. You cannot fire it in auto, unless you're a giant. That's everything I ever fired with live ammo in my life.
Quote from: iKate on April 27, 2015, 12:30:36 PMI think I just got a little excited!Korean M1 Garands are going to be imported by dealers soon, and here's the really good part - they will be priced as low as $220!Wow!!!

Quote from: Zumbagirl on April 27, 2015, 04:54:21 PMWow that's pretty amazing. There are some amazing military surplus guns washing up on american shores lately. I am currently thinking I want to get a Mosin Nagant just because, honestly, it's a cool looking rifle and an amazing piece of history. There are also Swiss K31 bolt action rifles and of course every eastern european version of the AK47. Mine comes from Romania The prices are pretty good too although the quality is lacking. Comparing the AK to the AR I know isn't fair, but the manufacturing quality of my Smith & Wesson branded rifle is light years ahead of what came out of eastern europe. You should visit the Springfield Armory sometime if you want to know everything there is to know about an M1. You can see where Garand himself sat and designed the rifle that would bear his name.
Quote from: iKate on April 27, 2015, 05:02:09 PMI wanted to buy a mosin but never really got around to it. They are less than $200 though. One warning though, the recoil is pretty bad. But like that other famous soviet gun (the AK 47) they are tough as nails.
Quote from: Beth Andrea on April 27, 2015, 07:11:09 PMMosin, AK, AR...What are their traits?
Quote from: Zumbagirl on April 27, 2015, 04:59:05 PMbump fire = spray and pray lolThere is an interesting video online of a guy called IraqVeteran888 (I think) and Jerry Miculek doing a side by side test, bump fire vs skill of semi-automatic. Jerry is just incredible....
