This is going to sound funny, but has anyone else gone 'limp wristed' since HRT?

I'm catching myself doing this a lot! For instance, I can be chopping vegetables (stir fry) rinse my hands and in between that and going to open the fridge my hands are hanging limp.

Is that naturally feminine at, all?

I don't think it can be glued to a hrt effect.

But maybe in part psychological, I mean now Im free from the restraints of acting male, I notice mine are somewhat limp now. It actually annoys me to see them like that.

Very much.
I think it's mostly on the psychological level and how much you let that in, but HRT affects that.
[banter] For example, my handwriting changed wildly through therapy, from a caveman's with broken knuckles to something more in the vein of Victorian romantic or so. It's not that I planned that but it happened. It sort of crept on...

HRT does add a little FAB to everything. :D
I've found it takes love to make or do something, and without love it's senseless; void, empty, vain.

I don't think it was the HRT for me...I think it was just letting myself be myself finally. I've noticed a lot of little feminine gestures that just flow naturally these days without me thinking about them.

This has been happening to me lately. It comes easily and naturally since i quit pretending to be a guy.

I didn't notice that much femininity until just last year, and more so this year, even now, I'm more 'limp-wristed' than ever. I think I'm a slow developer all 'round.

I'm going to have to agree with the "now that I quit acting male......" crowd.  But yea, they got limp.

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

Hrt does not make your wrist go limp. You just didn't do it before because society falsely teaches men that is a sign of weakness. Your becoming more comfortable with yourself thus your mannerisms are reflecting that.

There may be some physiological basis to going all limp-wristed.  Bear with me...

I've noticed that since starting HRT and losing muscle, many upper-body movements have become more tiring.  I imagine that my muscle and strength loss is not limited to my shoulders; my forearms have probably lost some too.  Therefore, even things as simple as the way I typically move my hands is becoming more tiring.

The "rest" position for the hands is palm down, fingers down (the "limp-wristed" position).  And since I'm more tired in the forearms, surely it follows that my hands go into the rest position more often?

(And to push this weak theory one step further, note that we MtF girls, we're cursed with heavy man-sized hands.  Man-sized hands plus weak womanly forearms will naturally lead to lots more limp-wristed downtime, right?)

Thoughts?

Sounds right. This means that finally after all these years everything just fell into place. I am more comfortable with everything about myself, everything feminine anyway, so I find that my mannerism is more freely expressed without any of the awkwardness that affected me years before. Heck, this year I started wearing shorter dresses, above the knee (with shorts on underneath, hey, not ready for showing anything off down there yet), and now not feeling so shy about applying make-up in front of people such as refreshing my lipstick, so yeah, I'm getting comfortable with showing more of me.

I've found that I get tired out real quick, especially my arms, but I always thought it was just me. But I know its hormone related, because off the hormones for a long while a couple years ago I started getting my old strength back and have a surge of energy (adrenaline) that lasts a while (also high aggression too with this), but once on them again for a bit, my body tires out faster, but I don't mind because I feel better inside.

^^ I totally agree right above ;D

On HRT everything is a workout. Carrying laundry, even flossing my teeth. My arms get strained.

I'm on a pretty high testosterone crushing regimen anyway so it's understandable.

You do realize that there are anatomical things called "muscles" which you can use to physically straighten your wrist?

Just sayin'

 •

When your testosterone is blasted you have to work 2X as hard to build those anatomical things. ;D

Oh yes, I also noticed that the "relaxation" position of my hands, arms and even legs and feet changed a lot. But I'd agree with what's above: psychological adaptation.

About the strength loss I said to myself before HRT that there's not much strength it can take from me (as I have most exercises forbidden for other medical reasons). Well, I was really wrong :-) .
Semi-blind asperger transwoman. But do I care? No I don't. I love myself :-) .

Kinda silly, but it feels sort of validating 'cos I do this all the time, HRT starting in 2 weeks though-

I'd say it's probably more psychosomatic than anything  ;)

I don't know... When you where pre HRT and operated normally have you ever noticed being 'strong' wristed? That being said, I'm not purposefully trying to operate limp wristed while on HRT. It just coincidentally happened and I started to really notice it. ;D

I'm definitely more limp-wristed.

I have no idea why, but I definitely am  ;D
