Is the risk worth the reward for changing your gender legally?

I have been able to legally change my gender to female for three years now, but I haven't.

The paper work for my university was my first excuse and then other silly little ones. I have always feared the issues it will cause with a medical aid or my university as the admin is bad enough without a random gender change. I dont look female at all, my face just screams male and I am rather shy so having people ask me if I have the wrong ID in public would destroy me. I obviously still present male and fear the social ridicule if people were to find out as the way I present is a paradox to how I really am with those trust few I have.

So I am curious is it something worth doing before you present as yourself and what are your experiences with a gender marker.
Awww no my little kitten gif site is gone :( sad.

Honey, if you are still presenting male, it seems like changing your gender  marker would just create problems. Unless there is some other benefit you are thinking of?

Why not wait, and do it in conjunction with your name change, when you are feeling confident about your female presentation...
