So i thought that i would do an official post for my surgery

so as of now im about 57 days away from the Vday and im beside myself with fear, happiness you know all the emotions

i will keep this updated

so far i have pretty much done everything but send them my money, just waiting on the confirmation they received my blood work

also just so you all know im from Ontario and i am luck enough to have no only my srs covered but my breast augmentation as well, and boy do i need both of them lol

archlord

Ugh . Ontario has this covered ??? Does it apply to Quebec too? I paid 7850$ from my own pocket for ba.. congrats on surgery date

Wow, Alberta only plays for bottom surgery but I think I'm happy about my   Breast size.

When ohip changed the rules back in march they included the ba with bottom surgery for mtf's. prior they only did srs. I think after looking at everything ftm's get covered they thought it's only fair lol

"Augmentation mammoplasty for the purpose of sex reassignment surgery is also insured for individuals with no breast enlargement following 12 continuous months of hormone therapy"

Took from OHIP

this means, any mtf that did get bigger then A cup cannot ask for it..    In my case i had my implants after only 4 month on hormones and my breast continued to develop from C cup to DD after BA.   So even if this get covered in quebec with time(it will be its obvious) i cannot ask for a refund

Thats not true.  You have 5 year ( at least in quebec) to claim something. But i had breast development so i cant ask for it even if they add it to coverage

No in Ontario is specifically says they will not reimburse you. I remember that when I was reading about it cause a friend of mine paid out for hers

Yay its comming soon for you =)  .  Hmm are you really getting both surgeries at same time??  Is it your first surgery ever?  I just want to point that the recovery will be extremly hard for having those 2 together .SRS is disabling the lower body so you have to use arms  to compensate  but with BA, you cannot use your arms at all.   I saw one girl that had both done when i had my surgery last november and she was so much in pain.   From personal experience,  SRS and BA are the 2 most invasive surgeries. FFS is nothing comparable.

Is it possible for you to have them at separate time?

Interesting. There are a number of recent threads elsewhere that claim FFS to be brutal and not comparable to SRS. I guess it all comes down to specific individuals...

It's so exciting isn't it?

I hope you don't get too bouncy waiting for your time.

Looking forward to following your path to and through your surgeries. I am now waiting for the Christmas Break to pass before my referral is processed. I have heard from Veronic and she said that she will get on it when they get back on Jan 9. I guess my date will be well into Spring! All the Best! Hugs, Kelly

Thanks. Yes I am having both at the same time. It's less time under anesthesia less travel and from what I understand from others that had both at the same time it's only a problem very early on. After a few days it's not so bad. And I do a physical job so I can't afford to have 2 separate healing stints. It kinda needs to get all over and done.

But I'm so excited only 45 more days as of today (Xmas) it was the only thing I wanted for Xmas and I got it. 2017 is going to be an amazing year I can hardly wait

When I had my BA last February , it took me 6-7 day before I felt comfortable enough to stand up from bed without the help of my mother and I was mostly using my legs. Just saying it will be hard but it is possible and at the Asclepiade there are nurses to assist you 24/7 . Good luck
and merry xmas

I see that SRS+BA is a fairly common combo, but from my own experience I would rather have those surgeries separately, specially if we are talking of a sub muscular BA.

I had my BA one year ago and it was the most crippling experience I have ever had. My arms were useless for the week I was at the hospital. Now that I have had my SRS 11 days ago, arm strenght is what is helping me get by, as my lower body / bottom can't take a lot of pressure and I use my arms to getup and position myself. Compared to the BA (and a bit FFS), SRS is being a cakewalk.

I would not dare to combine SRS with anything bigger than partial FFS, specially if alone. If you have a strong companion to help you move, I guess it can be done.
