Hello all,

My name is Avery, I am 19 years old, and I have recently come out as ftm. My ->-bleeped-<-ty small town has about -128 resources for trans people so I sought out some solace and found this website.

Some background: I go to a university in Ontario, Canada. I'm studying English and Sociology. My friends and family are very supportive of me being trans but the majority of them are straight cisgender people so as much as they support me, they can never really understand. I have a wonderful girlfriend who is supportive as well. I have socially transitioned (everyone uses he/him pronouns and calls me Avery, my chosen name) but I haven't been able to start physical transition yet because my earliest referral to see an endocrinologist to get on T is in February. That was a tough pill to swallow when I got that phone call.

I think my main goal with all of this is just to know that there are other people who have experienced the same kinds of things as me, and maybe get some advice for the rough days.

Hope to talk to you all soon :)

The main things to remember in life are Love, Kindness, Understanding and Respect - Always make forward progress

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

Hello Avery, welcome!

You are very fortunate to have supportive friends and family, and it sounds like you're on a great track.  Sorry to hear you're facing a delay to start HRT, I had a two month wait and that sounded like an eternity at the time... and people in some countries face a 2+ year wait for HRT due to health care policies.  But in the long run it's all more than worth it.

I am MtF in Seattle, opposite direction on transition but we face and work through many things that are identical.  Our goal is the same - to experience and enjoy the best life possible.

See you around!
