About the only thing I'll miss is deer hunting with the guys...they just don't get the whole trans thing.  So if I do any hunting it will be by myself, hopfuly I can find some new hunting buddies.....

deer hunting?  Oh no!...you don't want to miss that!  :(

Hay what can I say, I'm a RG..... a Redneck Girl, I just love being out in the woods among God's creation & I do love the hunt. Plus the health benefits compare to beef.  There aren't any growth hormones given to the animal like in beef cows.

I like venison.  I can't buy venison - it's illegeal to buy and sell it in New York State.  So there are only two ways I can get some: 1) Have generous hunting friends give me some (but ya never get the best bits that way) or, 2) Get some myself.

I am not into it for the male camaraderie, although going out with a carefully chosen friend or two is fun and productive, I go out to get some good meat.  An unfortunate (perhaps) part of our world is that if I want to eat something, that something has to die.

That said, I may go again this year but by myself and if it ever gets to the point that I can't go I WILL miss it.  There's something special about being in the woods at sunrise and witnessing the world come to life.

I'll miss the occasional good cigar once in a while too, well, maybe not  >:D!

hugs & smiles,

I don't know Steph.  It's not like you could provide a demonstration of it's function anymore.

Uh.......

Something I would miss...

Something I would miss...

Something that would be better than being a woman...

No. Nothing. And I regret the things I will never have like having a period or getting pregnant.

There are just a few things I miss, though not very badly.

Doing my hair in less than a minute.
Fixing my face before going out, even though I have it down well under 10 minutes from the original couple of hours.
And not yet, but post-op I would miss standing up to pee.

One thing I don't comprehend about my pre-op TS friends is the compulsion to sit and pee. To me it's just a bodily function, and my self image isn't affected one way or the other by how I accomplish the task.  ;D

Everybody's different. I didn't pee standing up even before I transitioned. It was alway more natural to sit to pee. My ex once asked me about it before I came out to her. I claimed to be "just being lazy".  ;)

You know, the only thing I do miss is not having to think about my voice.  I wish I could just relax it and have it sound unambiguously female, but it just is a bit low when I do that.  :-\  Other than that, I don't miss anything.

I'll be honest here. There is one thing I kinda miss and that's being able to have friendships with (heterosexual) men and not have them mean anything else in most cases... even going out for coffee can be loaded with all sorts of meaning and can also stir up gossip amongst colleagues and friends.

Gay men, no probs; I'm the biggest fruit fly around. :D

But can women and men truly be friends without sexuality coming into play?

Interesting.  When I was 16, I was working at a store and I remember one woman addressed that very subject.  She said she did not think it was possible.  So thinking I could prove her wrong, I became friends with a bunch of women later on and then I end up transitioning.  So, I have to agree with her now. ::)

The only thing specifically female I miss is having long hair...I mean, short hair is much easier to keep up, trim, and for passing and all. But I had the longest hair in elementary school and the feeling of brushing it and the comb against my scalp...mmmm...wonderful feeling. Just the tug on the scalp from the comb pulling on long hair. It feels wonderful. That, I miss. :)

Yup, this has become my biggest concern about transitioning: is The Voice something I'll have to consciously "do" each and every time I speak for the rest of my life?

Not to mention laughing, coughing, clearing my throat...

So yes, unless it becomes habit eventually, not having to worry about it is something I'll miss.

You know it's not THAT bad.  It seems like when I'm around other people, my body kind of "locks in" a female voice (whcih I can still do while alone), but it's not like it was before.  I ALWAYS talk in a head voice and *that* is unconscious, it's just raising my pitch that is the part I have to think about.  Now the laughing, coughing, and clearing throat all happen automatically (I've always had a high pitched laugh that now sounds normal), but there is that sneezing issue.  Men tend to sneeze REALLY loud, so I tend to semi-stifle my sneezes and that works well...most of the time.

Still finding my way round this board, just found this thread, the pee thing is just a function, I'v been sitting for the last 20years or more, but probably what I miss most is not getting patronized all the time, only yesterday I went into a store to buy a plug, the guy ment well, but was soooo condescending, ''are you ok lady can you wire this yourself'' same when my car needs fixing, its this and its that, what would a girl know about cars, I got ripped off several times, it probably wouldn'd happen if I was still a guy, also takes me longer getting doing my hair and makeup, but I don't mind that, its a girl's privilege to be late LOL!!!
If your going thru hell, just keep going.
