The Black Keys were amazing if only because its hard to believe that two people could be that loud.  Though I liked the last tour better.

I really like the Joan Baez version of The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
Hi redfish (hope you are feeling well), ya me too. i always thought hers was the original, and The Band's was a cover. but actually it's the other way 'round.

Cat Power, "Satisfaction" (cover of Stones' song)

tekla

The Band had a true luxury in having several people who could sing, all with very different voices.  I have always loved Levon Helm's voice, which is so aching that it just seems to cut to the quick on the songs he does (Dixie Down, The Weight).

For something silly, try its version of Rammstein set to Winnie the Pooh.

I've seen Tool a few times, and while I'm not head over heels about them as some of my friends are, they are pretty powerful live.

Hi redfish (hope you are feeling well), ya me too. i always thought hers was the original, and The Band's was a cover. but actually it's the other way 'round.

But you can feel raw emotion in the The Band's performance that you can't in Joan Baez's.

There was a lot of soul in The Band's version. On the subject, Levon Helm released an album recently, Dirt Farmer, it's really wonderful to hear him singing again.
