Trust me, Elwood. This is neither the first nor the last word. It is the first semi-high-numbered research I have read that included FTMs though. Usually you guys have been after-thoughts or not-given-a-thoughts in the various ways TS has been explained and researched in the past.
I don't think the finding is a bad thing at all. And a particular enzyme is hihly unlikely to be a sole cause for TS of any sort. There are likely to be a number of physical causes, just as there are a number of variations in TS that have often been used to try to invalidate individuals and groups.
The more causes discovered or implicated the better-off we all are, imo. First, that would ease the fear of Janett Scott & the Beaumont Society and other interested parties. The more causal variation the less likely are pre-natal interventions with an ability to "tell." Hence, the less likely TS babies will be able to be aborted to prevent their occurrence.
