Hello peep :)

I am currently making a video project debunking the most famous myths/stereotypes about transguys/girls. I am wondering if you could give me your opinions :) thanks you!

For starters:

Myth: All Trans-girls like men only.
Myth: We chose to transition to get laid.
etc.

Pls.help!
Thank you in advance.

I can think of a couple that happened to me
MTF dress slutty tight mini skirts and stuff like that when I told my wife I needed to go back to wearing the girl clothes that is what she brought me.  I did set her straight with that one but she stills brings some home from time to time.

I was sterotyped as a hooker (street worker) by another MTF just because she was one

One of my ex girl friends thinks that MTF only like girl stuff, movies, TV shows.  I don't watch the soaps all my children, general hospital, etc... I like watching the science chanel and sci-fi chanel.  Ok I do sew but I also build model railroads.  I can not even think of a girl flick the last movies I saw in the theatures was 2012, angels and demons, and star wars III.

Myth: Transwomen get dumb when they transition

Got it right on that one, Janet!

I swear that I must have lost about 20 IQ points considering the way that some sales types talk to me!

I went to Radio Shack the other day to buy a new GPS and fortunately there was a woman there who was on duty and gave me all the information I needed.  I had already done the research and knew which one I wanted.

I thanked her when I bought it and said that I was glad that she was there, because if it had been a man he would have felt obligated to show me how to work it!  She agreed and said that the guys in the shop do that all the time and you can see the look on the females faces just wishing them to shut up and let them get what they wanted.

What is really unusual are the guys who think I have lost my hearing.  They actually speak louder to women than men.  That I find really weird.  And irritating.

I get a kick out of sucker punching them sometimes when I out geek them.

To stay on subject:
A very common myth that I've had to contend with is that switching genders automatically changes my sexual orientation; "So, you're a girl now, how many guys have you dated?"

Another one is: "This is some sort of sexual thing for you isn't it?"

Myths

men become transsexuals because they are queers and want to trick you to pick you up.

Transsexual men and homosexual men are so desperate for any sex they will do it with anyone.

Any gay guy will do.

You can always tell.  ;)

It's OK to beat up a transsexual because they aren't real women.

They're just perverts who fancy their mothers.

They get it cut off!!!  :D

The one obvious one is all MTF Transsexuals are escorts. even girls in the community are surprised when you tell them you graduated from college and have a very good job.

That and were all dirty sluts that we sleep around with diffrent men.

Myth: There's no such thing as a trans man (FTM)
Myth: All trans men are former butch lesbians
Myth: All trans people are straight in their adopted gender
Myth: All trans people have or want genital surgery

My top myth is that "All transpeople think the same way and believe the same things about their condition" Honestly you only have to read some of the, at times almost violent discussions on here to realise that we have many very different approaches and takes on this.

My second top myth is that "being trans is a single medical condition with a single cause, and a single one size fits all approach to treatment." That's about as stupid as thinking that every single cancer sufferer should take the same drug. We aren't all the same, we may have similar symptoms, but I'll bet almost anything that in the future when the whole thing is better understood it will be realised that being transgender can be caused by a number of different things, and in some case several of them working together.

Myth: people get a "sex change;" before surgery, they're one gender, and after surgery, they're the other gender. It's all in the genitals.
Myth: All trans women are ultra femme, and like lipstick, long hair, and nail polish.
Myth: Someone being trans makes it okay to discuss their genitalia casually, in public.
Myth: Trans men are really just lesbians, and they're a tiny minority anyhow.
Myth: Someone's body is the same as their gender.

I think it is a myth that all trans people are transexuals. Just take a look at the andro section.

Here's a few I've faced already:

Gender and sexuality are interchangeable. (Most notably with vicar going on to think this is about sex)
Transsexuals aren't/can't be true Christians.
Your birth sex determines who you are.

And, my favourite:

You just need a relationship with [opposite gender] >:(

Transwomen:
- liked boys when growing up
- played with dolls
- didn't have a father figure in their life
- are too hung up to have gay sex so they change genders
- it's all about the clothes
- it's all about the sex
When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

Myth: Transition = Sex change surgery. (truth: a long and slow process of therapy, multiple surgeries, and hormone therapy. The hormones are for life.)

Isn't "true Christian" (or "true Hindu," or "true woman," or "true American," or "true vegetarian...") a myth?

It seems to me that everyone goes at these things in their own way. All too often, the idea of a "true" this or that is just an excuse for people to put each other down.
