And it was a pretty day in Paradise, aka Maui.  On the other hand, it was a bit of a downer.

We had convinced ourselves that, if we really scrimped and reduced our savings to zilch, we could just afford to buy a very small, very old condo here.  A realtor blew us out of the water when he said that the price and the mortgage calculations we made didn't include about $10K per year in extra costs like land rent and condo fees.

Buh bye, old fixer-upper.  Someone who needed a tax deduction bought the place, anyway.

Oh, well.  Don't plan on moving to Hawaii, folks, unless you are earning at least $200K per year.  Real people don't live here anymore unless they live with their parents rent free and work 3 jobs.

Tomorrow, it's supposed to rain.  I think we should go out and have some fun, anyway.

Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.  Now we can afford to go to Starbucks.
When we walk to the edge of all the light we have and take the step into the darkness of the unknown, we must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for us to stand on or we will be taught to fly. — Patrick Overton
