I would have still preferred someone a bit younger though but I'll wait and see maybe he'll be good. :)

True but to be honest I like they went the older route to change it up a bit and also I see him being a bit like Jon Pertwee so perhaps more hands on. Totally going to miss Matt though, it is a shame that my favorite look of his that felt like the doctor of old is his look he only has in his final four stories.

Boy am I in the minority. I didn't like Matt Smith's look at all. The last few he looked old and scruffy.

I thought that too until I seen him on the cover of Entertainment Weekly earlier this year! But after seeing that photo I started thinking he was cute! But maybe that's just me.

And a lot less cuter than Matt Smith too! :-\  All I have to say is he better know how to act.  ;)
You fangirls with your focus on looks, it does not matter, he might be a cool doctor, most doctors were rather scruffy-looking, the exception to the rule being Davison, Tennant and Smith.

Whats wrong with liking a cute guy? It's one of the few perks I've been able to enjoy with this second puberty.  ;)

Those shoes are yummy :c Shame they cost a wee bit too much.

Here's a video of Peter Capaldi saying, 'I'm the new Doctor'

I'm really happy with Peter Capaldi! Although of course Matt was a bit easier on the eye. Capaldi can act though (not that Matt couldn't), he's a comedic genius and he can do really serious stuff too (Children of earth anyone? Torchwood?). So I think he'll be a great Doctor even though I'll probably relate to him differently because of his age.

Right at the end of that when he says "I am the new doctor" his grin reminds me of Tom Baker's 4th doctor grin.

I'll be happy to see Matt Smith move on, he never did it for me at all.

Peter Davison to Be in Doctor Who 50Th Anniversary Episode
September 13, 2013

Peter Davison has confirmed he will appear in the 'Doctor Who' 50th anniversary special.

The 62-year-old actor, who played the Fifth Doctor in the BBC sci-fi series from 1981 to 1984, admitted he is going to play a part in the one-off episode on November 23 and while he is looking forward to seeing it all come together, he is remaining tight-lipped about the specific details of his role.

He told BANG Showbiz: "I'm making an appearance somewhere over that period of time but I can't reveal in what.

"I can't reveal anything specific about it. I'm not allowed to.

"It is a big year for the show and we're all doing our bit for it. Trust me."

There was also photos released/leaked of what appeared to be Tom Baker filming with no indication how old/recent the pics were other then they seemed to be in the same or similar location as the pics of Matt and David being interviewed and Hurt walking aswell as the Zygon for the scene where the queen and 10 are running away, also they were a bit hazy but you can't miss the scarf, full length scarf at that.

good news for all classic series fans as nine previously lost episodes from the 60's have been recovered.  All from the 2nd Doctor's era (the inestimable Patrick Troughton) they allow the completion of the story 'The Enemy of the World' and near-completion of 'The Web of Fear' (just episode 3 remains unrecovered).  'The Enemy of the World' is being released on DVD on the 25th of November this year, with 'The Web of Fear' to follow in early 2014.  All episodes have already been made available on itunes, for those who buy apple inc products (I don't).

eleven nights before the 50th, so I'm going to count down from 11 to 1 literally with a story every night, tonight it's A Good Man Goes to War :)

I am hazarding a guess that Davison makes his appearance in the mini-sode that has been mentioned 'The Night Of The Doctor' that will be released before the anniversary special. Also had no idea he was 62.

Yes, all the Doctors from before the new series are looking a bit the worse for wear and getting rather long in the tooth. Understandable since we are talking between 20-30 years ago! I remember watching the Five Doctors 20th Anniversary special and they had a look alike play Hartnel's Doctor. I was kind of hoping they'd do the same for everyone pre-dating the current series in the 50th but it would seem not.

I take it you've seen the 1'30" trailer?

Well the reason I was surprised to read he is 62 is purely because to me he doesn't look it, seems he has aged well.

1'30" trailer?
