Thanks Jayne!
They're showing the 50th here in Sydney at 6.30am Sunday morning. Will I be up at that time to watch it?? You betcha... only 24.5 hours to go!!!

We get to see it tomorrow night, I can't remember the time but my Tivo box has it set in stone so i'll be able to watch it again & again.
I'm so exited I could crush a grape

If anyone comments on it after viewing then please keep in mind that not everyone will get to see it at the same time so please rememer the golden rule. . . . no spoilers

My understanding, which could be wrong of course, is that they're screening it in Australia at the same time as the UK. And that will be across all three time zones, so I'm glad I'm in Sydney where it will at least be 6.30 in the morning, not in Perth where it will be 3.30am!

loved the ending with you-know-who. The long talk he had with 11 and that sad look he gave him, i think he knows of 11's regeneration. How? I would guess wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey. Glad they bridged the 8-8.5-9 gap.

Spoilers!

That was pretty special.

that'll keep me going until Christmas, although I am in the middle of re-reading the novelisation of The Evil of the Daleks atm and hopefully The Enemy of the World will turn up on DVD on Monday, and I have the novelisation of The Highlanders to read as well, and the audio Afterlife should hopefully be out just before christmas, and The Trial of the Valeyard, it's a full time job being a Who fan ;)

I've watched "Time of the Doctor" twice now, and the ending brought me to tears both times.  What did you all think?

I finally got to see the Christmas Special and the "Adventure through time and space".

I loved it and I do not get all the complaints about the ending I feel the episode explained it well and without giving too much away the way it happened made sense to me. I just hate how we have to wait like 9-10 months now until we see new episodes.

I was wondering where the conversation went Anna.
Seems everyone is still busy banning each other?

It was ok but I don't like the new doctor.
What are they thinking? We will have to wait and see.

Still Clara is good so hope she stays on.
So long and thanks for all the fish

Maybe?  So far I've managed to stay out of that thread :)

Matt Smith took several episodes for me to warm up to after David Tennant.  I expect Peter Capaldi will be the same (and I also expect that lots of people will complain about wanting the old Doctor back)

She's supposed to, but I don't remember hearing when her contract is up.

I'm going to go against popular public opinion and say that I didn't ever warm to Matt Smith & i'm glad to see the back of him.
I'm hopefull about the new Dr, for many regenerations now we've had young Dr's & I hope that having an older Dr will give a different perspective.
One of the appeals of Dr Who has been a fresh feeling every time a new Dr wields the sonic screwdriver but for the 3rd Dr in a row we've had a jumpy, energetic & erratic Dr, it's time for something slightly bitter to cleanse the pallette.

Yes, I have to say I really liked the older versions of Matt Smith that we saw in the Xmas special, they forced him to slow down and made him less frenetic. I liked Matt, took me while to warm to him, but when I re watched his earlier episodes I realised the problem wasn't with him but with some of the stories which were often all over the place, repetitive or outright silly. Loved the 50th, liked the Xmas special (mostly). I get the feeling that with Capaldi we might see a return to Pertwee and even Hartnell style Doctors...time will tell I guess!

I am saving my judgement of Capaldi til after a few of his episodes have aired as Matt Smith took me awhile to aswell but I got use to him quicker then Eccleston(didn't really like) and even Tennant I take in doses. I am glad we have an older actor as the doctor just for something different. As for Jenna Coleman the last I read she was signed until at least the end of series 8.

Ms Grace, I agree with you about the stories often being a bit silly, often writers will write with an actor in mind to play to his/her personality/strengths, I believe this is when characters come truly to life.
The last 3 actors have been young & energetic so I think the Dr's reflected this. Capaldi gives off an air of authority & maturity, hopefully this will rub off on the Dr to give us the kind of Dr that we've not seen in decades

Peter Capaldi apparently tweeted "I have had a big say in my costume, I can't give too much away, but all I have to say is.... "No regrets, no tears and no anxieties""

Quoting William Hatrnell The First Doctor in The Dalek Invasion Of Earth.

I am intrigued now.
