We wait for tonight. But, if it takes place in Brizzle, then I should be able to recognise a few places. Plain old England is often the most effective backdrop for The Doctor.

Are you a Bristolian or just familiar with this slice of heaven? I need to know if my hunch is true about that station being 5min walk from my flat

No, just a bit of local knowledge picked up over the years! (Family).

Great episode, totally loved it! I really hope Clara sticks around for another season, I really do.

Ugh! Of all the people to bring back. Not that I haven't been expecting zir return for some time now. Absolutely my least favorite. I would almost have preferred a totally insane future Doctor.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

Yeah, I loved the twist. I didn't see it coming at all!

They're far from my fave villain too but I always feel very unsettled and unsure of the outcome when they're on by virtue of their sadistic random insanity.

I hope I never see another damn cyberman ever again on Doctor Who. I'm so sick of them. Missy being "The Master" was a shoddy plot twist, as well. I really hope Moffat redeems himself with Season 9, or gives the reigns to someone else. Even the cleverest writers run out of ideas, especially when you have to write several stories a year. I do love Peter Capaldi as The Doctor, though. He made the whole 12 episodes worth it.

I hate NuWho's Master. The original, vanDyked Master was cunning, sly, and every bit  the Doctor's equal. Sure he was mustache-twisting melodramatic at times but that was all part of the charm of the villain. NuWho reinvented him to be The Joker without all the face paint. I mean, I squealed with glee when I found out that Derek Jacobi was The Master, and then was immediately disappointed when he almost immediately regenerated into what we got.  :icon_chainsaw:

The Cybermen are today what Daleks were a few seasons ago, they just need some time off.
Missy being the master has been called since Ep 1 of this series, as soon as they gave the name away fan sites had called it.
Moffat can never redeem himself. No matter what he does, he has retconned far too much to ever be forgiven.

I think they pulled the trigger on the Missy grand plan a season too early. If they had continued the slow build of Missy taking the people who sacrificed themselves, revealing a little more each time and built up a threat for him to deal with this season it would have had alot more impact. Blowing the load in 2 episodes after a slow build like that seemed so rushed.

Capaldi is an awesome doctor though, cant believe people were complaining about it being too dark O.o

The first series was pretty dark, and even much of Tennant's era, but everyone got doe-eyed over Matt "Clumsy Cat" Smith, and forgot that The Doctor was once played by a 55 year old man. He's now over 2,000 years old, so seeing some wrinkles and some grumpiness was totally called for. I hope the next series is even darker. :)

And in control by anybody other than Moffatt.

Jeeze, I know it's pretty much open season on Moffat these days, but really?

For my money I enjoyed this season a lot more than the last. Sure there were some weak episodes (the nothing happens "monster under the bed" and the ludicrous "the moon is really a giant egg" episodes), some that were "meh" ("Robin Hood"...) but there were some awesome ones too (the 2D invaders and Mummy on the Orient Express for example)...admittedly most of the great ones weren't written by Moffat but so what? Clearly he's not hurting ratings otherwise the BBC would have dumped him ages ago and in TV land that is pretty much the only thing that matters. As much as many fans (apparently) want to see baffling esoteric original hard core sci fi (I mean, know I do) they seem to forget that, apart from the fact this is still at its core meant to be a children's TV show, the second the ratings drop they probably won't have any Doctor Who to complain about anyway. :-\

I love Capaldi as the Doctor. Moffat would have chosen Capaldi which clearly shows he's willing to try something different otherwise we'd have ended up with an even younger more hyper version of Matt Smith. Heaps of people were saying the new Doctor should have regenerated as a woman, the Master shows up as a woman and people are all "ugh how unoriginal!". If I hate a show I just stop watching it, that way I don't have to waste time watching it or complaining about it...

Moffat was mining the spirit of the short films from the 70s that were almost as scary as Doctor Who - the public information films!

I don't hate Moffat. He's a phenomenal writer. I mean, he's known for Doctor Who and Sherlock, but he also wrote the miniseries Jekyll which was genius, and the sitcom Coupling; although, rather sexist, it was still hilarious. The problem is when you're one of just a handful of writers for a show that never stops. Your brain starts to get a bit worn out coming up with impressive material. I see it happen to bands, too. After a nice 2-3 year hiatus they often come back with music that totally trumps everything they've ever done. So, Moffat doesn't have to leave the show completely, but he should seriously take a break.

Grace, I see you included the Robin Hood episode under Meh, can I say it was without a doubt the worst episode of the "new era" Doctor Who I have seen. They built Capaldi as being quite dark and a bit ambiguous in terms of morality and then threw him into a comedy episode like that and it absolutely killed his momentum, in my opinion.

I agree, but on the flipside I did enjoy some of the Doctor's lines in that episode. This season/series has been hit and miss, but they all have been. I personally want to see more of 12/Capaldi (13 actually, but yannow, spoilers n stuff), as he's a rather fun grumpy/serious Doctor.

Just my opinion, and I only started with 9/Ecclson(sp?) (10 if you count that spoiler stuffs).

I rather enjoyed the Master coming back as a woman. I was close to making a comment about a Transgender Timelord but I knew my wife would knock me upside the head.
