Title: Road trip
Post by: Laurie on May 31, 2017, 12:42:16 PM

Hi folks,

As some of you are aware I am going to be wandering around the northern half of the USA on my way to/from Maine.
When and where I'll be on any given day even I do not know. It's just the way I do road trips. I get a destination in mind and I mosey until I get there. I should be hitting Grand junction, Co, a little north of Springfield.Mo. Possibly the upper peninsula of Michigan, Altoona, Pa and of course Maine.

I may be able to make a few stops on the way there or back. Some have expressed a desired to meet me for real and that might just be possible. Anyone that would like me to see if I can arrange a meeting or short visit please PM me so we can exchange contact info. I can send my email address first if you prefer just let me know.

I am not promising, but it could happen.

  Hugs,
     Laurie

( actually I know where Maine is and I will find it. It all those places in between I might have trouble finding)
I'll let everyone know when I start it.

Lol  Thank you all.

  Hi Devlyn,

Boston could be on the way somewhere... as long as it isn't anywhere near the  city.  Been there, done that, don't ever want to do it again. I lived at the north end of Wollaston Beach for about a year, registered for the draft in North Quincy, And got my first driver's license in a slushy suburb of Boston. I also left home from there to go join the Navy.

Hi neighbor.
lol Yes  we were pretty near each other for a bout a year weren't we? Bought my first car and rebuilt the engine there. Gas was only 24.9 cents a gallon until they engineered to gas shortage a were rationing gas while closed stations had fuul underground tank and oil ships were being anchored out in the bay because they wouldn't let them offload. Yeah the good old days of the 1970s.

Yep Devlyn we will have to get together for sure.

Hi Cindy,

I think I should be okay until I am heading back home. At any rate if I find myself under salty water I think I'll know I made a wrong turn somewhere. Large bodies of water are usually  to be avoided on road trips.
Thanks for the heads up though.

Alas Kelly, I will not be crossing over this trip as I lack a passport to do so. I had no desire to do any more border crossings so I never obtained one. I had no good reason to be visiting Canada but apparently now I have two. Perhaps I'll look into getting a passport for next time.
I've never been to Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.

I find Maine and New Brunswick very similar. Being Canada and US are the only real differences. The people and landscape are very similar.

Hi Kathy,

Awww thank you. Still under house arrest? IIt's such a bother.   I jest Kathy I'm kidding really it's was only a joke. I really Would have driven a little further this trip to see you and Kelly Had I been adequately  documented to make the crossing. I won't attempt a secretive crossing as I like my freedom. Sorry.

Laurie, what were you thinking, bringing up the home detention. You know she is sensitive about it.

Three things.
First, are you planning on walking?
Second. You are three hours later or is it earlier than me. My partner wanted to know why my phone came to life at midnight last night, you crazy woman.
Third. Are you walking?
Forth. Oh that is one to many, sorry.

I will be driving my trusty steed (well mostly trusty), and home away from home, 2006 Chevy Silverado crew cab pickup. (doubles as a travel trailer at rest stops and out of the way wide spots in the road) It's midnight blue under the dirt.
I know you said "walking" but was really thinking "is she traveling by broom? Will she be bringing her familiar?"

As for the above please convey my apologies to your partner. I am sorry to have disturbed her rest. I realized what your local time was right after hitting that send button. And yes I did think of it disturbing her and wished I could have rescinded the outgoing message. Alas, we both know that it is just a wee bit too late to do so at that point. Again, please tell her I'm sorry for bothering her.

Yeah well, you would think she has had plenty of time to have gotten over it by now. Though I hate to admit you being right about anything, it was a bit insensitive of me. (I have been told several times "You lack tact and diplomacy" Hell, I'm no politician, I tell it like it is.) Besides she's in a foreign country and can't get at me to retaliate.

Three thins huh? you always have this problem with numbers?

Laurie,
Five.  I still don't think they  found all the bodies at Kathy's house. She and Aunt Martha had 13 buried in the Panama Canal  in her basement as I recall. (name that movie)

Seven. Or is  it D)?  You are right, she can't  get to either of us. Besides, Canadians are too smart to come here right now.

Nine.  It's ok about the phone. I really just wanted to complain about you. I thought I would answer at 6AM my time. lol
Moni

Four. When is liftoff for this epic journey? Not specifically, don't want to crimp your style.

Hi Anne,

No, not at all, it has been a very reliable vehicle needing only a few repairs in the 10 years I've owned it. It current has a 4 wheel drive problem I hope to have fixed before starting my trip. It  wouldn't stop my trip from happening if I didn't as I currently have it disabled.
The Silverado 1500 crew cab is comfortable. I have the 5.3 liter engine and get good mpg for a pickup. I've been very happy with it.

Hi Bony errr I mean Moni,

15M.  Yes I like lace, especially on my undies. (blush) TMI? not so enthused about arsenic, though it can be useful in combating all sorts of rats due to it's sweetener properties.  ;) ;) ;)

17o. Yep we should definitely be safe. Besides she would have to fight against the prevailing traffic to come for us and would probably be detained as a imagined terrorist by the administration.

19n.  Yeah that's what I thought. That is why I apologized to your partner specifically.  :P :P You could respond at anytime you wish as i do not hear my phone when I sleep, even though I keep it above my head beside the bed.

3i.  I won't be heading out before the 6th (I think) and hopefully before the 13th (I think) It is all subject to change as will my progress to Main and back. I'm thinking I can probably be away 4-6 weeks.

There did those answers help you at all?

Hi folks,

I guess it's time for a little update on this thread. I am still far from ready to hop in the truck and hit the road. But I am closer than I was. I believe I know when I am leaving! Well actually I've narrowed it down to two days (and yes even that can still change)
I've decided to take a break in my preparations to have another short adventure. I will be going out to the coast (only about 100 miles) and visit with Tessa tomorrow while attending the Astoria Pride festivities and return Sunday evening. Tessa invited me to come and enjoy the pride weekend many months ago. I decided to do so though it will likely delay my departure by a day.
Which brings is back to when am I getting started. If everything falls into place I might be able to leave on Monday the 12th, but more realistically it will be Tuesday the 13th. I hope to be meeting with Jane Emily and RandyL on my way to Missouri. and that is as far as my ghostly plans have reached so far. Beyond Visiting my good friends in Missourah is just a cloudy rough draft in my head. I could head northeast to the upper peninsula of Michigan or continue east to Altoona, Pa. Both places have relatives I'd like to see on this trip. I could even try to hit both on the way out to Maine or split it to one in each direction. Like I said it is still just a rough draft in my head at this point.
So now you all know as much as I do. More updates will come as I figure things out.

  Hugs,
    Laurie

P.S. Moni, Watch out girl, I'm going to hunt you down... I'll teach you to malign me!

Okay you jokers. I guess you should have posted Road Trip delay #1. At the request of A very anti-social member of this here forum who shall remain nameless (rhymes with Pony), who claims impending invalidism and has begged for a bit of a head start in order to have more time to hide. I took pity on her and will not be starting until Thursday the 15 or Friday.
Because of this requested delay I graciously grated, I found myself with a couple days to fill. Coincidentally This weekend was the Astoria Pride weekend. Having been previously invited by Tessa to come out to the coast and check it out months ago I contacted her and insinuated myself onto her weekend guest list. (word of caution: if you don't want to be an adhock volunteer, don't accept invitations from event coordinators) She even hard me walking in the parade holding up one end of a rainbow banner and waving to spectators.
What the weekend turned out to be was a couple of days spent en femme in the company of friends. You know doing things like a block party with a drag show and other entertainment, eating food, attend a dance pack with strange people like me, some work helping set things up and tear them down and of course getting shanghied for the parade.  Thank you Tessa for the weekend with you and your friends.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Laurie, it's good to hear that you are getting out and about more.  See, you walked right down the middle of the street carrying a rainbow flag, and there were no problems. :)

Life is good when you can just live it, and be yourself.

Michelle,
Down the street? Not quite. Picture a very small San Francisco. In Astroria they ave a river walk. Partially paved, other places a board walk. (tiny fisherman's wharf) They also like SF sport a trolly running down the middle of the river walk. Yeah, they tried to run me down with the trolly they made me help decorate with rainbow banners and flags. Believe me it was a good thing they didn't make me play tag with the autos in the streets. BTW the trolly missed me. And there were no nasty protestors to be seen in the whole 2 mile walk.

Hugs,
   Laurie

 CAtch up...

Sadie - Packing got interrupted and now have laundry to do before starting to pack again.

Moni - You have your grace period. Still not telling when it becomes hunting season. Chocolate chip cookies homemade with family recipe.

Sara _ It was Kathy that was incarcerated. My pickup gets 16.5 mps @75-80 mph  better if I slow it down a bit.

Moni - Soon it will be hunting season

Sara & Davina -  You're both safe  for now.... no passport remember?

Devlyn - cool looking cookies but I'd watch out for the chocolate chips.....  That is Not my wall papper... silly people

Moni - Don't you go bad mouthing my OREOS... Only home made chocolate chip cookies can beat OREOS !! 2 more demerits. (Little girls have pretty curls but I like OREOS...)

Liz - hmmm 10 paces and cookies.... depends on the type of cookies.  Black Hawk helicopter?? when do I get delivery of it?

Whew  all caught up.

Okay, Laurie that was for their benefit. Now, come closer. Closer! All this talk about duck season, are you telling me I will need to duck. You know, for when the camera is rolling for the youtube? Cause, if it is really about hunting ducks, I am no duck. I'm a certified chicken, thank you very much!

"able to feel confident enough to get out there" ?????

Really Liz?  LMAO

It's like this. If you go anywhere in Astoria with Tessa, you are going to be "out there" There is no avoiding it. Tessa is so involved in Astoria LGBTQ+ that EVERYONE knows her and you are thrust into the public eye by virtue of proximity. I was introduced to so many people she knew that I was getting used to being called Laurie. I was up front in that parade because she brought the banner that we carried and I was given an end to hold up and the rainbow banner's place was just a little behind the brand new first ever Astoria Pride Banner. The rainbow banner lead the parade last year. Our group (the Astoria Q Center) had the place of honor of first in line for the parade.
I thought I was going out to observe the weekend festivities. I was wrong. With Tessa, you are a part of them!

I thank Tessa, Julie, Alicia and everyone out there for a great weekend experience.

  Hugs,
     Laurie

My dearest Moe-knee,
Yes, Monica, I was forced to walk in the parade carrying the heavy banner. There was quite a bit of physical labor required of me when all I wanted to do was sit in the shade and preen.
"belt me in the cookies" huh That's dirty pool as you will have had your cookies removed by then just so I can't retaliate in kind. Ducks? camera? youtube?  What the heck are you talking about. I won't be hunting ducks... By the time I catch up with you I'll be hunting felines (can't use the real word here). You'll be as playful as a kitten by then.
I'm sure you won't be able to run anywhere by that time so you'll be easy prey.
BEWARE!

Hi Davina,

I'm sorry I couldn't quite decipher your first sentence.  Something about doodling in public. At least I think is was something about doodling.. I'm pretty sure sure it wasn't about diddling in public. That just doesn't sound right at all. At least for me it wouldn't... now there's no telling what that Monnie might do.. I sure wouldn't rule out her doing something like that.
I appreciate the thought regarding cake but have to agree with you that it probably would survive very well especially in going through customs. Since we're talking food I was wondering how roasted ->-bleeped-<-gots taste. I know they aren't curried but I thought you may have tried them.
Thanks for the bag of hugs. After this past weekend I'm about to run out of the supply I have. My supplier tells me they are in high demand and are now on backorder. So yours will come in handy.

Hope all is well there across the pond hon.

  Davina,

Yes Davina, they are vastly different in the USA. That is because here the word has nothing to do with food, rather it is a derogatory term used for people like us in general it refers to males that do not beet the cis-world's definition of the sexual norm.  I think I much prefer the UK version as I do like liver. Sadly I didn't get a chance to try them the two times I was in England. I did have plenty of time to sample the warn beer in quite some detail.

You should see the gigantic suitcases my sister in law travels with. I hurt my back with them, so I learned to make myself scarce when she was loading up.

On the other hand, my wife and daughter travel very light.

Hope you don't have a giant bag when you arrive here. I might be "indisposed" lol.

We'll discuss the makeover when you get here. Being a weekend I couldn't make any large formal appointments. This way I can maneuver it back to being your fault if we don't go through with it [emoji1] [emoji12]

Packing? I knew there was something I probably should be doing...  Instead of doing suck mundane things I was out at a few stores trying to find a couple things. I went to the Burlington coat store figuring to buy a light woman's coat or jacket.... they must have gotten out of that line of business. It looked like they were now competing with Goodwill by the rows and rows and rows of clothes. It even appeared as it they were pre-owned clothes  the haphazard way there were displayed and bad signage. Oh yeah I saw about 6 jackets on a clearance.
So I went across the freeway to the mall... slim pickings at sears, Macy's, Dave's sporting goods, and J C Penny's. I guess  the beginning of summer isn't a good time for coat shopping. *sigh* So not coat or jacket for the trip.

Oh btw Randy... While in J C Penny's I went into the Sephora section and was greeted by the girl behind the counter. I decided to have a chat with her and walked up to the counter. I inquired about the 2 makeovers the do and the short one is pretty much help with a specific area or makeup type of your choice. The long one covers more of a full face makeover for a look of your choice. night out, day time, glamour etc, that they will do for you like for a prom or wedding etc. She suggested scheduling before going and give a bit of information of what you want so they can get some products ready before hand. We were discussing it as if it was for me and she also suggested making it know before hand that it would be "for a gentleman" as some techs may not be comfortable with doing it for a male. I imagine the same consideration should be given for us. If you want it to be a learning experience you should also tell the tech so explanations can be given as the work is performed.
There ya go Randy... I did the footwork, ball is back in your court.

Tomorrow I should go fill up the truck and go to one more store. Then I suppose I should start packing.
    *Oh bother*

Hugs,
    Laurie

Mix and Match as much as you can...when I went to Queensland I took 3 complete outfits right down to the shoes and from these 3 you could make 5 or 6 different combinations...I found myself in jeans and tops because the weather was crappy...then of course there is the make up, shoes, hair accessories jewellery, and I managed to keep it all to just under 50 pounds for being away 2 nights and 3 days...you are going to need a road-train https://www.siku.de/en/sortiment/road-train.html (https://www.siku.de/en/sortiment/road-train.html) if you are taking both :D

  Lets see;
  50 lbs is to 3 days as  X lbs is to 35 days.  X = 583.3 lbs

I might need more bags.

Packing female things is a pain
Title: Re: Road trip
Post by: davina61 on June 15, 2017, 03:26:17 PM
its like getting showered / changed as it used to take me 20 mins for a triple S (That's a shower, shave and a-----------------------------shampoo) now its more like 40mins and that's not counting make up!!!!!! When I go Drag Racing for 4days every thing went in a soft (sports style) bag , Will need a suit case next year.
PS if I miss you before you start ENJOY ( especially the make over) oops did I just type that out loud

That's not the problem Kathy. It's deciding what to take. I've got the girl clothes in the bag except for what I'm going to wear. I have to shower and put on a little makeup then I can decide what to put in my purse and maybe pack a little more in the bag. Then figure out the bling I'm going to bring. Then it's the easy stuff - pack a guy bag That takes about 10 minutes.
But before all that My toe and finger nails need to dry.

Well I made it through Utah and into Wyoming.  I saw I am getting places too quickly and would be in. Denver tonight if I didn't do something about it, so I took a shortcut and went sightseeing back in Utah for about four hours. I made it back into Wyoming about twenty miles further down the freeway from where I started.
I am about 100 miles west. Of Cheyenne. ... Still too close to Denver.

Still coming to get you Minnie

Wow, I am left speechless after that........Okay, I'm over it. I must have had my Wheaties in that video. Usually, I only squeeze all my animals once. And I'm not sure how I got to be left handed, but you just never know do you. Notice there are no bats. The dark side of me wants to stage  a picture of Laurie on the floor with my attack animals  drawing fake blood. That would teach you sassy ladies a lesson. :)

Always lock the door with the remote. Always lock the door with the remote. I locked my keys in the car once and that was before I had a remote so I started locking it with the key instead of pushing the button. I never locked my keys in the car again.

Well, looks like she got out of the state anyway. We got a dog in Burlington once. Maybe Laurie is bringing one for Moni. Hmm, maybe not what the doctor ordered.

We had a good time here. Counter to all expectations spawned by all these good folks here, Laurie was actually a gentle and gracious guest. Give her enough WiFi to satisfy the needs of her 50 pound gaming "laptop" and she is happy. Sorry we're vegetarians here :) Hope her legs are recovering from our hike "around the block" (kinda big blocks out here in the sticks).

    Hi folks,

I made it to my friends place in Mizzeri. My pickup has decided to rest here for several days. I made it here in girl mode so that makes this the longest continuous time I have been in girl mode.

I want to thank Jane for meeting me for lunch and a couple hours of good conversation with our food. Thanks to Jane's presence, I was able to relax and ignore the fact that I was dressed appropriately as myself in a restaurant full of strange people and enjoyed my time with her. I did notice a lot of the diners were looking in my direction, (there was a TV showing some sporting event behind me) but only one woman looked directly at me and smiled. Whete she did this because I was a diad or just another diner I have no idea. No one that I noticed stared or said anything that I know of. We we just two other diners. It was a nice lunch. Thank you Jane.

I also want to thank Randy and her lovely wife, two quiet and gracious people that opened there very nice home to me for a very pleasant visit. These are two very nice people who are very in tune with each other. The view they have is as beautiful in daylight as it is spectacular at night. I cannot recall ever being served an intentionally  "vegetarian" meal until visiting Randy and his wife. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious consisting of many different vegetables and fruits and tasted very good. Watching Randy and his wife preparing the meals was interesting to see. I do not thing I have seen two people more in sync with each other, complementing each others efforts to put together the meals with little need for conversation.
Both are talented accomplished people and I fear I overwhelmed them with my incessant inane talking. I was hopeless out classed by these two yet they made me feel very welcome in their home.  Thank you Randy and better half.

The rest of the trip to Missouri would have been uneventful had I not locked myself out of my truck. There is one distinct advantage men have over women... Pockets! Had I been traveling in male mode this would not have happened. My wallet would have been in one pocket and my keys in another. I also probably not have been locking the doors because my purse was being left inside the truck.
I had plannned on paying at the pump, pumping my gas, and driving off down the road again. Locking the keys inside with me on the outside sort of put a crimp in those plans. So there I was having to perform the classic damsel in distress play in real life. How embarrassing! Having to go inside and explain my predicament to  one person who led me to another that dialed a phone for me so I could get the locksmith to come unlock the truck. I explained he would be looking for a woman and described my pickup for him. I then went back outside after thanking the people that helped me and waited beside the truck in the very busy gas station until he arrived and let me back in. It was not the kind of real world female experience I was looking for. *sigh*  But as you can tell I survived it.

Beware Moni... I am 2/3 of the way there.  You have several days to worry before I continue.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Lol. Laurie your last post sounded like an Oscar speech.

You certainly deserve one girl for your new road movie ;D I hear it's going to end with a vegetarian zombie outbreak as Michelle's amateur radio club starts broadcasting a message for everyone to head for Liz's safe zone in Australia. Moni Moni's genetically modified squishy critters have gone feral it's been reported......oh the suspense ;D

Peace and love and all that good stuff,

You know she had you as her "special case" for quite some time now :icon_userfriendly:. Beware the visitor bringing little rubber animals....I think you are pretty safe, she's got to be able to get back in her truck first LOL Ever seen Pricilla Queen of the Desert LOL....I can say pretty much what I like because I know she can't get to me, :eusa_naughty: :eusa_naughty: no matter how good that truck of hers is...

distance = Bravery :icon_drunk:

  Hi Liz,

I too like the emojies. Yes you and Sara are safe..... for now  (note to self- look into getting a passport)

I'm not worried about Cylde. Rumor is he'll be put out of his mizzery before I arrive. The other ferocious critters don't bother me either as I am sure they are fictitious and created in an effort to derail me from my intended purpose for a visit to that woman.

No such luck Mani umm Tony?  oh right moanie.  Two vegetarian meals does not a vegetarian make.  I'm carnivorous.

Well ,I have a choice to make.  Put my hair back on and go fishing in girl mode or wash my face and change into guy mode.  I did forget my guy socks.... Decisions decisions.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Compared to locking your keys in the car, this a makeover is going to be a walk in the park, in your case we should also send a carer to make sure you don't get lost in the park and they could probably help you when you need to take that jacket off that does up at the back with the arms that wrap around you and ties in the back... Problem is I think they are only made for straight people  ??? ;D

So you are volunteering to be my surrogate in the UK and take care to those across the pond for me  are you?  Sounds like a plan...
Sorry, no fresh road kill seen yet. And yes I am having a good trip so far. I did change to guy mode and went fishing. We did pretty good today and brought home 4 fish the best of which were a 7 pound Walleye I caught and about the same size cat fish Jim caught. They've been filleted for eating later.

My Dearest Moanie,

How am I keeping up with the threads I can while on the road?  Why I pull off the road at the nearest exit occasionally so I can check on what terrible things you are saying about me while I'm busy driving.  That way I can keep an eye on not only you Loni but my other friends also.   I thought you might have gotten lost or held captive for final clearing at your electrologist.
Yes, locking my keys in the truck was traumatic and I thank you for your concern over my welfare. Though it was a rough patch they did not have to deploy "the jacket". I've been behaving for so long now that I almost miss hugging myself in that jacket. btw if you haven't tried the padded room yet I highly recommended it. I wish they would change up the decor though, stark while just isn't esthetic at all, but the room itstelf is so soft and plush one just cannot hurt oneself and you can sleep anywhere in it.

Laurie,

Enjoy the fishing.  I've heard that fish are afraid of men.  Just sayin'.

Randy

  Hi Randy,

Jim and I did enjoy the fishing. I should have worn my bikini top so I could work on proper burn lines. My neck is sun burnt, as are my arms, and lower legs. I can feel it today. My feet are bruised from walking on the rocky creek beds not to mention my legs are sore from all the uneven ground walking. If I had worn my swim suit I would have been more appropriately dressed for the swim across the river to retrieve a hung up lure.
Oh yeah the fun part... We did catch several fish consisting of perch, sunfish, catfish, bass, white bass, and a walleye. We kept one catfish Jim caught that was about 7 lbs, the walleye I caught also about 7 lbs and 2 of the white bass. The two biggest fish were 24-25 inches. All the ones we brought home have been filleted and frozen for later meals. So it was a fun, tiring, productive day.
We ate BBQ rib steaks with mashed potatoes an string beans cooked with bacon. So far I've had to cook my own brunch yesterday and today for Peggy and myself. ( they don't get moving early enough for a breakfast. This morning was a scramble with eggs, bacon, chorizo, sliced onion and rainbow bell peppers. I think I spoil Peggy when I visit as she doesn't eat breakfast usually.
What's on the agenda for today I don't yet know. It going to be another warm day up about 90 degrees so this afternoon will probably be another river trek with fishing poles. I'm going to need a vacation to rest up.

  Hugs,
   Laurie

"Spoke" with Cindy briefly via messages earlier in the week and she is not the most comfortable but as usual has her positive attitude working overtime...She has not lost that slightly bizarre sense of humour that's for sure LOL...Just ask her what wrong with her neck...make sure you have no hot liquids anywhere as you are apt to spill them.

So I got a call from my Electrologist yesterday as I headed out the door for my treatment saying her Rabbit was sick and we had to cancel the session...this is the second time she has, as they say in the car industry, had a  "Budgie Story" for cancelling an appointment. She is far better than anyone else I have used and the results speak for themselves which is why I put up with it...but to be fair she has also waited for 25 minutes because my injecting Dr was running late so yes it is irritating but that is about all...Glad to hear you are safe and well despite the odd mishap..

Well I struggle from my bed to find that the gender political structure of the USA is being inexorably changed by the travelling Wilb-Lauries.

"Hi cutie, I've locked my keys in the car can you help me please :-*" Even I haven't resorted to that excuse; well I hadn't but I thought I'd give it a try, and then I remembered that I hadn't put my speech valve in and had to smile take the 'lost' keys out of my purse and retreat from the parking lot. But we won't talk about that; he wasn't that cute anyway.

As Liz said I have been dealing with some pain issues and had to see my surgeon who took some delight in explaining that since my neck tissue had been heavily irradiated that repairing my surgical wounds took effort in establishing good skin to skin grafts.
When I asked if that was why my shoulders where now next to my ears and my boobs where my tonsils should be he nodded his head wisely (and with considerably more nod than I have) and replied, "Yep we stitched your head on really tight." I expressed gratitude that I could not laugh it off as he gave me a script for pain killers and an appointment for some physiotherapy.

My first physio appointment went well and I have been taught how to 'Kiss the Giraffe, look for Lions and watch for snakes.' That the Physio was cute and had decided that I have the IQ of a 6 year old took me by surprise until I realised that I may have babbled about six foot rabbits. hares, balding chihuahuas, budgies and butterflies while being massaged.

Oh well back to work.

Oh my gosh, we should all bow to you, the master of the humorous post, Cindy. The Traveling Wilb-Laurie comment, I love it. I have to argue a couple of things. Your IQ is much higher, maybe that of an 8 year old, maybe 9. The rabbit is 6 foot 3 1/2 inches tall. (Let's stick with the facts here.) And the Chihuahua is hairless, not bald, but I really don't want to split hairs. I did not initially recognize the mating habits of the Traveling Wilb-Laurie in the wild. It is a wondrous thing to behold, I would imagine. I only wonder if she told the fish she caught about her key trauma. Hope you feel better. Keep on flirting with those therapists.

Yes, happy summer!  I have a Sawzall and grinder.  We should turn Laurie's truck into a convertible.  Also a solution next time she locks herself out.

Liz, your electrologist canceled after being injured by their 6 foot 3-1/2 inch rabbit.  Rabbits won't sit still for 2 hours of electro-shock hair removal without one of Laurie's road trip brownies.  (Note I didn't say hare removal - that would have been really bad).

I think Laurie's truck is actually a transformer that morphs into a 6 foot 3-1/2 inch rabbit. Watch out Moni, if you see Harvey again make sure it's not Laurie's truck in disguise. ;D

Morning folks,

After reading everything since the "Where in the World is Cindy" update from Liz I have arrived at the considered conclusion that you are all nuts with Cindy obviously setting the standard you all follow. I want to thank you all for reaffirming for me that I am the normal one posting in the thread. I had begun to question myself in light of recent events but now know there are others that are far more in need of therapy than I.
Kendra, You stay away from my truck with that sawzall and grinder of your. A convertible may be nice most places in the country and surely would resolve future key adventures for me but once I returned to the pacific northwest it would become a portable bathtub and the would not be a good thing. Then again I could probably stack it with the fish Jim and I are catching and stop bruising the bottoms of my feet from walking on all those creek bottom rocks. Think may need a bit more thought as it does have merit.
Speaking of fishing, Jim and I went creek walking again yesterday and I work my bikini top w/o shirt most of the time with cutoffs that I shortened further to make them appear more gender appropriate. The suntanning wasn't very effective as Jim too me to a creel that was well shaded. perhaps well get better sun wherever we go today.
Oh right ...fish.  Yes we did catch a fair amount of fish yesterday but the were mostly pretty small consisting of perch, sun fish, small and largemouth bass so we didn't bring any home. Walking in the water did help provide some relief from the 90 degree heat.
I hope everyone managed to catch their respective beasts in the menagerie let loose in this thread recently so it will be save to venture out once again.

Once again I was pressed into service as a breakfast chef for Peggy. It's the price I'm forced to pay in order to come visit my friend Jim. This morning I cooked her a breakfast fajita/tostata. I melt butter in a fry pan and put a flour tortilla in it, then 2 mixed and seasoned eggs on top of it ,covering while the eggs set. Next is a layer of fajita meat (usually leftover at at home) that I cooked first with rainbow bell peppers and onions. That is covered with grated cheese and finished with salted sliced tomato.  Cover again and cook until cheese is melted then serve.

Hugs,
   Laurie

It is actually Laurie, with her, ha ha ha, get this... "I am the normal  one." post. I thought I was gonna have to give Harvey a paper bag to stop him from hyperventilating, he was laughing so hard. Save the 'whopers' for your fish stories Laurie.

Watched QI (stands for quite interesting) on telly last night and one of the questions was about the average or normal person. A fact that does not exist. example take 2000 peoples statistics and work out the average and you will never find any one to fit so that makes us all normal then or is that raving normal????? Roadster pick up , that's cool , bet I see one this weekend at the Hot Rod meeting that I am going to (mini road trip, 30 miles) so camping, cooked breakfasts, barbies (home made kebabs) and pushing the boundaries of coming out. Well if some bloke can wear tattoos, ear grommets and dreds should be no prob if I wear sandles with painted toe nails, finger nails , rings and sparkly ear studs. No fishing though------

I had a good time too. Next time you're back in Denver we must do it again.  As for blending in you did great. Just another classy retired gal is all I could see.

We'll I can see now that we missed the boat, or the creek bottom, when we didn't force Laurie to make breakfast.

I'll have to try a variation on this for breakfast tostadas.

Your better off not having her to fix breakfast. If she did, she would have made a meat eaters breakfast with eggs on the side after the dinner you served her. The carnivore in her wouldn't be sleeping for long.

I know the type. My roommate was bacon/sausage, potatoes/toast and eggs nearly every morning. We would buy eggs at Costco in the 5 dozen package and never had them go bad on us. Normally her eggs were fried and mine an omelet.

Hi Dena,

Yep, you got me pegged though I try cutting down on the carbs (operative word there is "try").
This morning I cooked up the rest of the fajita meat as you do for fajitas, seasoning, onions, peppers, scrambled some eggs with Scarborough fair ( parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme ) salt and pepper. I served them with heated flour tortillas, a sprinkle of cheese and a few hot chili peppers on the side.
While here I've cooking more for brunches due to the late times we all have been getting up. By the time we drink our coffees it's 9:00 or later.

Morning folks,

Still here in Missouri with my friends. I'm as comfortable here as I am at home. I wear what I want here and have been in some state of presenting female most of the time. I fear their neighbors probably think my friends have three people visiting though they can see only only at a time. I've been outside in the yard  presenting male. I've been out presenting female in my wig. And I've been out presenting sort of female and sort of not with combinations of male and female attire without my wig. So they see blond hair and a bald top or a baseball cap. So the neighbors probably don't know what to think, and you know something? I don't really care.

Jim and I have been out walking the creeks everyday fishing with varying levels of success. It doesn't really matter if the fish are large or small as long as we catch fish. Which we've done everyday. Today we are probably not going for a couple of reasons. First is that it's supposed to rain and second all the walking in wet shorts have taken it's toll on the tops of my inner thighs and caused some painful chaffing that need to have a day or so to recover. My lower back and bruised feet could use a day off also. I have already finished ruining the old shoes I brought with me as the sole in front tore loose from the upper on one of them. I had to use part of my shoe lace to tie it up so I could continue fishing that day. Yesterday we went to Dollar General and bout me another pair to ruin.

I have been fishing in female mode sans wig (ball cap instead) with cut off blue jeans and my bikini top. Proof posted below) We only see a few people when we first get to where we are going to fish and when we come back to the car. I have a little bit of bikini top tan starting to show. The sunblock we have works pretty darn good and I haven't burned and except on my fore arms and lower legs from the first day we went and I didn't use any. I was in male mode that day.

Well that's all for this update. I hope all are well and are enjoying their own life adventures.

Hugs,
   Laurie

  Evening Devlyn,

My goal is to get from  here in Missouri to Maine and back down to visit that woman (umm what's her name dang it) in Pa on the 30th. Since you would like to meet for dinner I'd guess the 28th if we meet on my way to Maine or the 29th if on the way back.  Pick one that will work for you as I have no set plans other than getting into Maine and possibly staying long enough to have a surf and turf lobster meal. Then possibly finding a rest stops to sleep. And oh maybe a bowl of chowda somewhere along the way.

Evening folks,

Today was a break from fishing in order to recuperate. It was spent quietly in kick back mode and once the rain clouds blew away the clear sky and bright sunlight afforded some time in the yard pretending to work on my bikini tan.  I know, I know, it's a lost cause. That alabaster skin that almost never sees the light on day will never tan. It only turns bright red for a few days then peels back to the stark white underneath. But the lounging in the sun did feel good and I can at least say I tried. The proof is below.

Still trying to figure when I should leave here and which direction I should head first. My choices are  northeast to the UP in Michigan or east to Altoona, Pa.  I'll figure it out eventually.

  Hugs,
     Laurie

Awww I've been missed.  Thank you Sadie.

'Tis true I've been busy visiting my friends here. I usually get up before they do and make coffee, sort my pills for the day, then have a cup or two while checking the forums and facebook. Once Peggy gets up it's fetch her a cup  and start slaving away over a hot stove preparing another culinary delight for her and I.  Somewhere along the line Jim wakes (they both are not what you would call early risers) and I bring him his cup, creamer and the coffee pot. (By this time it's the second pot, Peggy and I having demolished the first) Then it's back into the kitchen and finish cooking whatever delight I'm cooking.
I think it will be an omelet this morn filled with the last of the open package of chorizo I brought with me, peppers,  onion, and lots of cheese of course. Perhaps I'll add a bit of tomato somewhere. Something to leave Peggy drooling in anticipation of my return. I do believe she is spoiled by my visits. Once breakfast is over it's cleanup and relax a bit while Jim figures out what we will be doing to abuse my body again in the afternoon and starts getting things together to go do it. This is another opportunity to check the forum for a short bit to see what I should respond to. Unfortunately due to time constraints it usually is limited to this thread and "That Woman's". Others have been sorely neglected, especially my greeting duties of the newcomers. Such is life on the road.

Yes, I did mention Peggy would have to wait for my return for more delectable delicious delights. I've decided I will be on the road once again tomorrow. (Yes, Connie or Bonnie, whatever you are going by today, I coming for you) I will be heading to Altoona, Pa from here to visit my sister's daughter and great nephew I have never met. I'll visit a day or so and probably meet a transgender friend of hers. Once I leave there I'll head to Sunbury for lunch with Amber Waves if I can get it arranged.
My plans from there are to head for Maine (The original main objective of this sojourn) with a stop for dinner with Devlin & company either on the way there or on the flip side. I've given her the choice.  That should put me right on schedule for the "Moanieca Hunt". I'll be shooting for the event to be held on Friday the 30th. I've heard she should be coming out of her misery by then and hope I will be able to put an end to her suffering once and for all. I'll have to use extreme caution though, you know what they say about confronting an injured or cornered animal....
Somehow I have to hunt p down probably in NJ and after the hunt I'll go in search of Georgette, Terri. If you were counting that is 6 more of you that I still have to find a way of meeting. It will happen.

Well the Peggy is up and the Jim is awake, both have been served their coffee so I better get in the kitchen.
More to come later.

Hugs,
    Laurie

Hi Michelle,

Yes, you are safe for now. Not only am I heading east but California is a place I do not frequent any more. I do pass through parts of it occasionally though so you better keep an eye open whilst you sleep. Perhaps I'll take I-80 home again through Sacramento. We both know the bay area isn't much further. I even remember where Walnut Creek is. It could happen...

I read your update and saw that you are still a busy woman. How you manage all that I'll never know. I have difficulties trying to decide where I'm heading next and when. It can keep me busy for days.  The visit with your daughter sounds like good thing are beginning to happen in that arena. Sometimes all it takes is patience and and a door left open. I hope my own daughter become more open to me again but I'll not hold my breath. It took years for her to begin letting me back in after I quit the drugs and alcohol. Why should I expect anything different this time. I suppose her I can hope her god decides to tell her I do not need fixing someday.
Sorry , just my "poor me" coming out due to the subject. Anyway I am happy for you Michelle the your daughter took it into her own hands to reestablish the relationship with you. You sure can't ask for a better greeting in light of the history you've shared with us. It's awesome Michelle. If we ever get the chance to meet I'll give you a warm hug then hunt you down. How much of a head start do you think you need?

   Hugs,

Well yeah. Even Moynie understood that. Is the 28th of this month your preference choice? Today is the 25th in case you didn't check the calendar. I'm working on packing my things back into the truck as we speak. okay so I'm really on the computer thinking about packing the truck, and a shower, and breakfast, and what to wear and if I need a bit of makeup....

I look forward to your visit!  The 30th would be good after 6 PM or so. Saturday, July 1, I may be busy later in the day/early evening.  I will be flying out to LA to visit friends July 2-4, so please do let me know if/when you are passing through so I can calibrate my schedule.

With kindness,

Terri

Oh dear, I've been officially added to the list of stops.  I would like everyone to know that I've enjoyed browsing the forums and interacting with all of you lovely people.  I say this with a sad heart because I am sure that after our lunch I will be reduced to a state of gibbering madness, much like the protagonist of a Lovecraft novel, after peering into the mouth of unspeakable horror.  At least if the opinion of others on thread are to be believed.

If you value your life, you will not drink the Elderberry wine when Laurie offers it to you, or you might find yourself buried in the locks at the Panama canal in the basement with Mr. Spinalzo. Or maybe swimming with the fishes with Luca Brassi.

I love reading this thread but could you please, please stop talking about food?

Do I get any credit, an Arsenic and Old Lace reference and a Godfather reference in the same post while dreaming and drooling about food? Come on  now!

  Hi Teri,

I don't think the 30th can be met but it might.  Saturday is more likely. I'll call when I know more  possibly from Moony's rehab center when I know more.

 Hi folks,

I made it to my Niece's place this morning and had a short nap. the evening we went to dinner at a local Italian cafe where we ate some good breaded calamari before our dinner of stuffed shells with meatball and bread. Then it was a short walk at Penn State Altoona followed by playgroung time for my great nephew Bill at a local playground. An evening of talk followed but not before confirming a lunch date with Amber tomorrow.

Hey moaner, how much of a warm fuzzy feeling do you get knowing I amd currently in the same state as you? I'll be heading even closer tomorrow.....

  Hugs,

Sheesh, all this talk of food which seems to have started in Colorado, the Brownie State.
My first endo appointment is 4 weeks from now, at which point I'll need to be more careful with calories... yeah thanks!   Now ya got me thinkin about food again.

I'll sulk away and find some carrots to eat with Harvey.

Shame on you ladies!  You all had me worried sick that I was going to be left permanently scarred from lunch.   Laurie is a very nice person, that I totally didn't need to file a restraining order against.  Do you have any idea how hard it is to have lunch with no less than 100 feet between us?  My voice is hoarse from shouting everything.

Hi folks

Lunch with Amber & co. was another very enjoyable event. Due to her bringing her body guard and numerous witnesses I was forced to be satisfied with a few hours of good conversation.  I did get the meeting documented with a picture but forgot to ask permission to post it.  Sigh

Hey moodie, I am several hours closer. I hope the Clyde conversion went smoothly so you are feeling good when I catch up with you. I am coming for you.......

In case you lose it, your head is the lump between your shoulders that sticks up vertically (mine has a zip around the base but that is uncommon).

Hi Sadie,

Your map was so pretty i framed it and hung it on my bedroom wall.  Besides it got fark and I couldn't see Pennsylvania anymore. So I tried using the directions That Woman sent me. I should have known they weren't any good when they said toclick my ruby red slippers together 3 time while saying " There's no place like home"
  That didn't work either. 'sigh'

I live in Kirkland across the lake from Seattle.  I also have a house in Eastern Washington State, small town of Roslyn - the 1990s television show Northern Exposure was set there as Cicely Alaska.  My band plays at the Brick Tavern couple times a year.  A band member owns the Roslyn Cafe with the moose mural on the wall.  For a small town Roslyn is surprisingly open and diverse - the first African American mayor in Washington State was elected there in 1974.

But the town I am originally from - Arlington, Washington State - that's a different story.  Might be ok today but in the 1970s that place was textbook redneck.   I responded by accelerating school to get the heck out of there - graduated high school and entered the University of Washington (engineering and music) when I was 15.

She might wait for it to get "fark" first before she pounces. Yes, for some strange reason she pronounces dark "fark" much like she calls Moni, Mon-Knee. Very odd, i'm sure she's Welsh. Next she'll be calling Pennsylvania "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" No wonder she gets lost poor thing ;D

I must say that for a funny sounding Boston gal that devylish Devlyn is one fine catch. She gave me one heck of a fight, walking me all over beantown working up and appetite berfore being landed in a fine restaurant. Prime fillets,  mashed potatoes, asparagus were had by all. Pallets were whetted with hot buttered rolls and delish chowda. I believe what eventually wore her down though was my incessant chatter.
I have to give the rough edged citified Devlyn four thumbs up (Don't worry minihooha moni won't notice a couple more missing parts) on wining & dining.
Thank you for a very enjoyable afternoon an evening Devlyn.

She politely listened to this mean rotten old broad ramble about herself. After breakfast we moved venues to a local park for more talk and a couple pictures. All too soon she had to leave for work so we parted ways.

So wonderful meeting you for breakfast, Laurie! I was sorry to have to run. And I didn't even get your autograph!  ;)

We chatted up a storm over classic Jersey diner fare, and Laurie sampled some Pork Roll (/Taylor Ham for those in north Jersey), the local delicacy. Laurie has such a great outlook on life and has had a ton of interesting experiences. I think we could have chatted for a couple more hours easily.

Last I saw of her, she was locked & loaded and headed for Moni. Watch out!

I ran into a slight problem in the hunt for my prey. It tirns out That Woman Myani chose a decidedly hunter hostile recovery location. After many fruitless attempts to locate a secure base camp for my operations (probably could have used a different word) I was forced to admit defeat. That wiley woman had out foxed me. Then after attempting to tender my letter of surrender she sends word that she wasn't even out of the hospital yet. (That woman , Mhony, needs to work on her adherence to schedules)
Armed with this new tactical data I quickly reassessed my strategy and hopped back aboard my trusty steed and the hunt was once again on.
I tracked her to her lair in the hodpital and found Moanycka defended by three formidable foes. Though outwardly very nice individuals they collectively were too much for this seasoned hunter. I was unable to bag my prey. I' m not sure that wasn't a good thing given the deteriorated  condition the prey was in. I obviously had seen better days and was displaying frequent grimaces of discomfort.(though they could have been a ruse to throw me off my game)
Mindy sadely wasn't the only in in sad shape. It is with heavy heart I report to you this day the demise of Clyde. I seach for his remains but That Woman had hidden then well. I a demonica moment of triumphant glee she presented me with what appears to be the last known remnants of Clyde in the form of a flattened and decorared caricature of a minature penis. Such is the depths she will go to taunt me with her victory.
After magmonously conveying all of your hugs and congratulations, I hung my head in prayer for the world as I unleashed her once again upon the wotld and let her valiant defenders convey her to her recovery burrow un New Hope. Als the hunt for Minihooha Moni is over.
Down the road I go to meet what is probabaly the last two denizens of Susan's Place ( MaybeBaby and Georgette) before turning my trusty westward towards home.

Hugs'

Unfortunately Sadie, due to some miscommunication,  scheduling problems, and timing issues Georgette and I were not able to meet up. As I was heading out of town We did have a bit of conversation via phone. So it wasn't s total miss. Pethaps sometime in the future I will once again overcome my aversions towards big cities and masses of humanity to try again to meet in person.  For this trip I had passed my maximum exposure level and had to escape.
Headig out of town I entertained backtracking to try to visit "That Woman" again along with one more visit with my number one fan p aka Patty. But alas doing so would again require another excursion into areas of too many cars, people, and too tight quarters for both my trusty steed and me. Sorry miss Manico (or whatever) and Patty I opted for the road west, my niece's place(as promised)  and a hot shower.
I arrived about dark, slept well on her comfortable couch and will stay again tonight. Tomorrow I'll head west again and need to decide if I am going to the Michigan U.P. to say hi to my rarely seen cousin. She does not yet know I am transitioning do that could be interesting.

Another update when I have something to relate.

Hugs,
    Laurie

  Hi Anne,

I would love to try and make that happen.  At this point in time I am thinking of returning home by that general route. I say general because I can tend to wander and explore non big interstate highways. I've even been known to roam on dirt roads between destinations. I could likely come to you.  I warn you it probably won't happen within the next week.

I started this trip to Maine to complete my goal of having been in every state and have done that. But the highlight of the trip has been visiting all of the wonderful ladies I've been able to meet with.  Had I not had all of you to meet with I probably would have done this trip in girl mode. All my travel time and visits have been en femme and it has been helping me a lot.  Thank you all.

I checked and find it hard to believe I have been on the road for 4 weeks come tomorrow. And what a month!

  Hugs,
    Laurie

No more bruising encounters for me!  We're leaving the country!

Ok, so this was planned months ago -- going to visit our son in Singapore.  I am bringing a cute new top I just got -- maybe I can find the courage to wear it in Indonesia, where we'll be Scuba diving.

I guess I should have mentioned I made it back to my niece's place in Altoona (perhaps I did I'm too tired to remember atm) I spent a couple nights there and took her to dinner both nights.  I left there yesterday evening and made my way back to south eastern Missouri today stopping for a visit with and internet friend I had never met IRL (seemed like the thing to do....) We talked a few hours and then I left to continue to my friends in western Missouri and just made it about 15 minutes ago. I parked and went inside to find lights and TV on but no one home. They are out eating. So I've brought my things in and made myself t home as I usually do. It was a long drive here and I had to sto several time to give myself a break. I've learned sleeping while driving isn't a sound practice. It could even be considered hazardous.
I've driven over 6000 miles on this trip so far and still have 2000 more to go before I make it home. Another milestone is that I have been in girl mode this whole trip while traveling and have been in male mode only twice. Since heading east from my stop at my niece's to meet Amber and everyone else I've been in girl mode continuously. I expect to remain in girl mode until I get home. After that who knows?

I will relax here for several days and I'm sure there are more fish for Jim and I to catch in the streams nearby.

  Hugs,
    Laurie

  No Sara,

I take no credit this is how Maonie looked in the picture. She did that to herself. I was so taken back by the poor condition of my prey I decided not to do any future have in my per suit of her and left her to either perish in peace or recover to once again hunt her down again when she can again be a viable challenge.

  Hi Sadie,

I am glad to have been able to share this wonderful experience with all of you here. It isn't over yet either. I still have the opportunity to meet with Anne in Colorado when I decide to continue on my way home. I'll also take her suggestion and travel another route up over the continental divide where I have yet to experience.
And sometime after I make it home I will coordinate a visit with Kendra. She will make it 10 of Susan's denizens I will have met due to this adventure. I never expected so many ladies would want to meet me IRL
It's been a great trip so far.

Wow after viewin that picture two things come to me. One, why did I ask her to post it. Two, maybe my memory might be a little clouded and maybe she did kick my butt. The question also comes  up, does Laurie tour every year? I say we gang up and give her no choice. Do I  hear the sounds of a mob starting? Get the torches and pitchforks!

  LMAO Moanynika,

I saw the condition you were in and took pity on you. You were in no condition to put up any sort of defense so I let you be. I decided that given enough time you may heal into the formidable foe I had envisioned when I started the Mayony hunt. Alas you were no challenge at all.

As far as my travels go I embark upon them when the mood to do so hits me and the bank account has had time to recover from the last one. I've been on the road twice this year and at least twice last year. I even thing it was twice the year before that.
I do not see that changing anytime soon and have another in mind for the upper  portion or Michigan which I decided not to do this trip. So you there is a possibility I will darken your doorstep once again if you heal enough to present a challenge.

  Hugs,
    Laurie

Yes my pick up has been telling me I need to change the oil for several days now. I should reset the counter I suppose. I so dislike machines telling me what to do. I still have about 2000 miles to drive before arriving home. Have been 6000 so far.

Liz

I have to apologize to Liz for not responding to this post reminding me of where I was 6 months ago. Reading it was a emotional experience for me. I remembered how uncertain and fearful I was at the beginning of this journey. I don't think I even knew where I was going with this HRT thing.  And here 6 months later I've made a lot of friends in Susan's. Friends that I owe for helping me to get to this point I'm at today. I have come out to almost all the people I felt a need to tell personally. I'm on this road trip where I've been myself almost exclusively. I'm coming to accept myself as really being a woman named Laurie and I'm blown away by it. I am not completely there but I am a far cry closer to it than I ever imagined.

Reading this reminder from Liz brought me to tears, another indication of the changes I'm going through. I was overwhelmed with emotion of where I was and what I've gone through to where I am now. It just kind of hit me. I'm really doing this. it's real. It is no longer a wish I've had almost as long as I remember. And it feel right. I feel good about myself finally. There are no regrets.

Thank you Liz.  Thank you, everyone for your help in making Laurie a reality.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Hi folks,

Been kicking back here in Missouri with my friends.  Went fishing with Jim and his sone two days ago walking the creek until after dark. The day was off and on cloudy with rain paying us visits several times.  I gave up all attempts on staying at least partly when I got caught in a downpour while standing out in the middle of the creek in waist deep water. I just said "what's the use" and kept fishing. We caught a good number of smaller fish, saw 3 snakes one fairly fat and over 3 feet long, and a deer.
Yesterday we didn't do a lot as the day was cloudy and out fishing clothes were refusing to dry. Yes we go wading in the creeks and get all wet but at least we start out dry. Anyway we hung out around the house until suppertime when we all got in the car to go have dinner at Smiths. I had a salty version of blackened catfish, mashed potato and gravy, a salad and roll. Afterward it was off to Walmart for a few things and had to endure Jim and his son picking out all sort of girly things they though would be good for me to wear from sporting good to shorts and tops, shoes and nail polishes. I have to say they ideas of what I need are not anything near my ideas.
One really nice thing that all three of them did without asking or previous discussion, during the whole outing they referred to me as Laurie and she/her. I was touched by their consideration.
It looks like I need to go don my bikini top and the rest of my fitchin attire as it appears Jim and I are going wading again today. I better put on the sunscreen though as it's supposed to be in the upper 90s today. I'll be working on my tan lines.

  Have a great day everyone.

Hugs,
   Laurie

 Hi folks,

Just thought I'd let you know the adventure continues tomorrow. I've already tendered my notice here so that my friends could started looking for another breakfast cook. My feet are sore and I'm peeling from all the toasting I've gotten in this Missouri sun. For the first time I have some tan lines I never thought I'd have.
So probably tomorrow afternoon I will be heading on down the road heading for Colorado again with yet another of Susan's denizens as my target. This time it's Anne I have in my sights. I plan on another night on the road so I can have a good visit with her on Tuesday.
Once I leave there I will head for another cis friend in SE Idaho to may a service vist for both her and her Mom to check out their computers and see if I can clean up the garbage her Mom gets on hers and see if I can determine why Wendy's computer (I built for her) is overheating and see if there are any other issues with it. I told Wendy (and her mom and dad thanks to being on a speakerphone) about me transitioning on a previous phone call about her computer back when I began this road trip) All of them seem to be okay with my changes. I've told them I will be in girl mode for my visit so we'll see.
From there it is only one more day's drive for home an this road trip will come to an end but somehow I think my journey will continue much enriched from the experience I've had with all of you.

  Hugs,
    Laurie

When is your epic cross country transformation novel hitting the press, and can we expect a movie?  ;D

I know I was enriched by meeting you and having a wonderful day on the town.  :)

I am not sure what to do with this new Laurie, folks. All the nice stories, her visiting everyone, her curing the sick with but one touch of a computer. I don't quite know how the heck I am to pick a fight with her in this atmosphere. I can't work in these conditions, people!

I think this journey has covered a lot more distance for you than just from Oregon to Maine and back.  Like any good road trip or vision quest, you are returning as a much different person.  Well done!

Hi Kathy,

Yes, I think you are right Kathy. I have a long way to go in accepting everything about this change in my life but on the other hand I have come quite a ways in doing so also. I have to thank everyone for wanting to meet me because if they had not I am sure I would have made this trip in male mode. Because these ladies wanted to meet me they were the inspiration for traveling in girly mode as I wanted to meet them all as Laurie. Each one was a stepping stone in my progress not only in my travels but also in my personal acceptance of myself. Talking with each and enjoying their company and kindred spirits did more for me than anything else has.
Now as I head home I am already thinking about my next road trip.... where to go.... should I get that passport I didn't think I would ever need?... Hmmm  There time to thing about those things yet I suppose.

  Hugs,
   Laurie

My visit with you was indeed an adventure I shall remember a long time my funny speaking friend.  You and Jane both dragged me out of my comfort zone and into public settings. I needed that.

  Thank you both

Hi folks,

Well break time is over. I had a very good time here fishing and cooking breakfasts for my friends here in Missouri but it's time to be heading on down the road towards home.

Did you see that Anne I'm finally on my way to meet you in Colorado. I should be there on the morrow.

Sara, if we were Thelma and Louise you know we would fight for who gets top billing right? Who's that cute girl in the avatar picture?
Randy I see you are fleeing the country for safety. Smart move.

I have a goddess like stature if you consider Medusa is a god. U should have seen my hair after laying in bed a week. It took 3 ladies half an hour to detangle me. No lie. I am thrilled to be back. Looks like you have been kicking butt on the boards, my friend. So proud of you.

Kendra, its rather ironic but since I started HRT I can't get enough of sausage. I know, let the jokes begin. I would have to find veggie sausage to turn vegetarian. The closest to being a vegetarian is me sitting on the couch watching TV all day. That's being a veggie isn't it?

Gosh, I hope Laurie ate before seeing Anne today.

On my trip back home after surgery, I reached the Denver airport about dinner time and I hadn't had any lunch. While I was in the hospital, I couldn't get enough food so I lost 5 pounds so I had developed a real appetite at the airport. My plane wasn't going to board for over a hour so I went looking for something to eat. Unfortunately the only  thing I could find was a hot dog cart so I bought two. All the jokes from my youth flashed through my mind and though I got them down, they didn't sit easy in my stomach.

Laurie I have tried to stay away from your travelogue here as I don't want to add to your weight and mileage on the road.  And then, it seems we might consider some further shared journey's to the nether regions from our NW base here.

Please come visit again after you get home and we can pull out the maps.  We both just did the east-west trip, maybe we look at going north-south next time?  A trip through the Emerald City and on to Victoria and Vancouver BC?

Actually we had a delightful visit and enjoyed ourselves very much and appreciate her altering her travels to stop by. I do believe that it was the road kill we nailed on the fence post that let her find her way. Laurie, you are welcome back any time.

Well Hi again folks,

I finally got to a place (Idaho) where I am able to get my laptop on the internet to post a picture. I as mentioned I managed to engineer my escape from Tai and Debi. I believe I mention I was a bit leery of entering there den as they seemed a little too eager to get me there offering meals , a comfortable bed and a shower.
I was cordially greeted upon arrival by what appeared to be a happy loving couple and invited in. Just in case I left all my worldly goods in my trusty vehicle in case I needed to make a hasty retreat. We sat and visited  for awhile I intended to only visit for a bit and then continue on my way. But then they dropped the ultimate lure (coached by their boss Maony no don't) knowing that it would likely be the bait that would snare me. They dangled the chance to meet another of Susan"s Place denizens later that evening for dinner. The hook was set and I was caught. I agreed to stay the night in order to meet this mysterious "other" woman...

Beware if you happen to meet these two in your travels.  (This should be a wanted poster)

Well I was wined and dined for lunch at a local Mexican restaurant favorite of theirs and I must admit the food was very good there. We returned to their den for more polite conversations where I was grilled about my travels. More bait was offered in the form or a clean towel and washcloth in the bathroom. It was about this time that they told me the mysterious other woman would not be coming with us to dinner. By that time it was apparent I was not leaving any time soon. I was coerced into a dress for this outing by their example of being attired in skirts and blouses. Thus they managed to get me out in a public setting in a dress for the first my time ever. Such is the deviousness I encountered  in these of two Meeni Moanie's henchmen. I was then enticed into another restaurant (Chili's) for a good meal of ribs and chicken. We return home once again I was  interrogated by Tia and Debi. These conversations were not one sided as they willingly shared their lifestyle and experiences with me. No doubt in an effort to put me at ease so I would not be expecting the coup de grĂ¢ce when it came. I must say this conversation was skillfully delivered and kept my interest and did allay my initial fears.
I guess I hadn't been fattened up sufficiently for I was shown to an attract comfy bed and we said our good nights and retired.  awoke well rested and after a warm shower, refreshed. I was allowed to retrieve my portable pharmacy and sort my medications for the day before being rushed off to breakfast at what they described as their "Home" and as advertised everyone there appeared to know them and the service and food was delicious.
We got up to leave and went outside for a photo shoot. It was here that I realized that I was about to meet my end. We returned to the den and I proceeded to gather my things and say my good byes as I headed out to my trusty steed. I believe this quick action was what saved me from their clutches as it caught them unprepared. Thus I was able to depart unscathed.
In spite of their ulterior motives I found these two to be generous in their hospitality and friendship. Therefor I must thank them profusely for the food, tidy accommodation and shower. Had they not been under  "That Woman's dastardly diabolical orders, I think we could become fast friends.

Here I present a couple more views of these two so you can keep them fresh in you minds and thereby avoind their clutches.

Laurie,
I am glad you are home, I'll give you a few hours before I start instigating ya. By the way, whatever happened to Clyde. I had this picture in my head that he got ambushed by the feds and cut down by machine guns like in the movie. Is he in a trash can somewhere in Tuscaloosa?

Morning Lil' Miss Moniker,

Despite all the horrible things you have said about me and all the nastiness you have assigned to my ever so sweet person, I have realized the significance of poor Clyde's remains. Although you have never given Clyde the proper respect he deserved and have only plotted his demise, he was in fact an important part in your life. So much so that you my dear Moaner, would not be the woman you are today  without his vital influence. (I know he is still playing an important part even if you chose to deny it).
No dear one, he has not been thoughtlessly discarded in a convenient trash can. Rather he has resided in my purse (occasionally brought out to share with others that can appreciate his significance). He will be kept safe until I can arrange for a proper resting place for him. One where he can be honorably displayed.

Hugs,
   Laurie

OMG Kendra, I sure will.  And don't you go thinking you are not a part of this road trip. You asked to be included and you will be. I put visiting you in my plans right away and we will get together very soon. You can bet on that and have my promise. I may even drag Tessa up with me if she is available to make a day trip.

Thank you Sadie,

It was a wonderful adventure and I am glad I started this thread for it so you all could share it with me if even just vicariously. It is by far the best road trip I have made to date.

Alas I was lazy this morning and only cooked breakfast sausage and fried eggs. Simple but still tasted good.

I met 10 friends I had never met IRL. 9 of those were from this forum.
I missed Georgette (due to scheduling issues) and Kendra for being a little inconvenient off the route home. I will meet with her shortly to fix that.
That leaves 3 others I already had met that I made stops at.

So after 32 days and over 8200 miles, I visited 13 and missed 2

Hugs,

Jane
Randy
Amber Waves
Devlyn
Sadie Blake

Terri
Anne (Tia)

I missed Georgette and Kendra

Beverly (a non forum friend)
My niece
My Mizzeri friends
Wendy (another non forum friend)

I think I have been hallucinating.

Some story about a person leaving home and travels around america and meets heaps of weirdos.

I know that one "Easy Rider'!

I think after that movie there was some stone statue in the desert, a weird priest, a kid with a rotating head and projectile vomit.

Too many flash backs, it must be the pain meds.

Title: Re: Road trip
Post by: Laurie on July 15, 2017, 07:43:45 PM
Hi Folks,

Well this road trip has come to a close, I've made it home. Late yesterday after getting my last fill-up which would enable me to drive the last stretch home I reflected on this wonderful trip and the wonderful people I had a chance to meet on it and I wanted to cry as I am now.
It was just another trip. Just one more of many I've made before. Yes it had a goal just as the others have had. The only one that made it special was that it would complete a long held goal of physically being  it all 50 states of this United States of America. Not many can make that claim but now I can. That was my only goal. Yes, I planned on visiting my friends in Missouri and my niece in Pennsylvania and possibly a cousin in Michigan, but those are just normal things to do when I travel. Nothing special.
What began to make it special was when a dear friend I'd never met from these pages mentioned that she would love to meet me if there was anyway I could make it happen. This woman, Moni, even with the surgery of her life looming wanted to meet me. I resolved to do my best to make it happen. As usual though, my fear of commitment kept me from actually promising that I would. It is to Monica that I owe this wonder experience Without her I would not have thought of starting this thread by asking if there were others along my route that would also like to meet. The response was greater tan I expected and I was surprised and flattered that so many others were interested in meeting. It was almost overwhelming. Dang it I was going to have to do a little actual planning and scheduling in order to make it happen. Things I actively try not to do as I prefer the spontaneity of the moment when I travel, but again I resolved to try and make it happen.
Again had Moni not inspired this request to meet it would not have happened. Another thing her asking caused  was the thought that I might meet a couple of you in Laurie mode. This was reinforced by Liz, Davina and Kathy urging me to leave the guy clothes behind. (As it turned out I could have done that.) I decided to leave here in girly mode thinking I could probably manage to meet with both Jane and Randy as myself. Which I did. Eating in a restaurant with Jane dressed as myself was a first for me. (One of several on this trip) I found that with someone being in public was not a difficult thing to do. Jane and those to follow were my security blankets. Talking with Jane allow the others around us to fade into the background and talking to her in person allowed us to share as this forum does not.  Thank you Jane.
From there I enjoyed the hospitality at Randy's home for the evening and the morning. Randy and her better half made me feel at home and we shared many of our thoughts and feelings I almost could not believe the welcome openness to their home and lives they shared with me, a virtual stranger. Thank you Randy and Jacquie.
Having made it that far I decided another day in Laurie mode wasn't too much and continued my trip to Missouri full of (well maybe only a little) confidence. But then before I could escape Colorado there was that disturbing gas station incident. I did discover that I could survive being outed in public from it though. In Missouri among friend as myself for the first time I discovered I did not actually need my male clothes after the first day going fishing (in male mode) After that day I did not bother to Don my male persona. I did though one more time for dinner out with my niece in Pennsylvania after driving to her place as myself. Why I change then I do not know. By this time I had resolved to do all my traveling as myself.
I proceeding on to meet Amber and again had a security blanket making all okay in the public world as we ate and visited. Amber and her wife are very nice people in what appears to be a very comfortable relationship with each other. like randy and Jacqui it was refreshing to see couples still in love with each other in these difficult situations.
Then it was on to see "Devilish Dev" A whirlwind on the move and though she talks funny, she's a great host whisking me off to Downtown Boston via train keeping  my distress caused by crowds and cities at bay by ever distracting my attention from them. The best security blanket this insecure lady could ask for.  She's fun, confident and full of grace towards others. At the same time she's a rough edged New England scamp. What a combination. I'll not soon forget her and her generosity.
On to Maine and the fulfillment of my quest. Emotional with a feeling of accomplishment yet anticlimactic too. Maine is just another place with good scenery like all the rest. A place to say I have been. There was no other motivation or attraction. It was done.
Back to Massachusetts to hunt down the first of two late additions to my visit list. If she had requested it any later she would have been missed. Sadie. Sadie was a surprise as we hadn't really corresponded much at all on the forum. Sadie is not your typical mtf  that I was expecting for no good reason. Sadie is my first gender fluid person with a female presentation to meet and talk to. I enjoyed our visit and she presented me with a different perspective on gender. Thank you for that Sadie.
Next was another public meeting with my #1 fan, p or Patty as I now know her. Had she not been available to meet for breakfast I may have missed her. As it was we only had 2 short hours to visit. From the very start she lived up to my image of her being my number one fan by waving at me excitedly from inside her car as she parked and giving me an enthusiastic hug as soon as she could all with a huge smile on her face. I asked but I still don't understand why she has become so enamored with me. She's a pretty young lady of 29 years with a bubbly personality and was a joy to visit with. I would have liked to have visited longer with her had her scheduling permitted. Thank you Patty.
Then it was time to visit "Her", my nemesis, my anticipated prey, That Woman, my foe, Monica. I was heartbroken I was going to miss here  at the Gaia House where I thought she was due to the horrible location of the place. It is a quaint little tourist town, picturesque place with narrow streets and absolutely no place for visitors of those vacationing there to park especially if you drive a full sized crew cab pickup. It even took a couple miles to find somewhere to turn around. I suppose it is fine for those with small cars and reserved parking spots but for me it was decidedly hostile. If you read the rest of this then you know I was ready to leave without meeting Monica because of this. I was not happy but then after I had texted Monica my regrets I got a response from Anne her partner telling me they were still at the hospital and would be there long enough for me to visit. So I did get to meet the one responsible for me meeting all of you I did and culprit responsible for giving me the opportunity to have people to meet along the way dressed as myself. Being able to meet with Monica was the highlight of the meeting as I owed so much of this wonderful experience to her for the snowball she set in motion by asking to meet me in the first place.  Meeting with her as a good friend grown from all of our banter was great but the results from that one expressed wish had a more profound affect on me. Thank you sooo much Monica.
After a good visit (for me, she was still in a lot of discomfort) I went on down to the DC area to try to meet with Georgette and Terri (MaybeBaby) This was the most stressful part of this trip for me. They are both in high population areas with altogether too many people and cars. Lots of buildings confusing roadways, narrow streets (many of them one way). In short everything about a city I do not deal well with. It did not take long for me to go into overload. It was afternoon when I arrived and got a hold of Terri and due to her scheduling I would have to wait for the morrow to visit. I don't think I attempted to contact Georgette at that time (I should have though) Any way I scouted the area (building stress) thinking of possibly getting a motel but opted to leave the area in search of a highway rest stop (did I mention I'm cheap when I travel) after finding a McDonalds and trying to get lost in the old city I fought traffic out of town about 20 miles out and found a crowded rest stop  to spend the night in the morning I fought my way back into town, found the same McDonalds to get breakfast, tried contacting Georgette, Bought a couple tops, a pair of jeans and leggings at a nearby Costco and got a call from Terri telling me She could now visit with me. During that time I had a couple more failed attempts in contacting Georgette and wound up missing meeting her altogether due to sensory overload for me for too long, I needed to get out of there by then and sticking around another night was not going to happen. We did manage to talk on the phone for about 30 minutes  though.  Terri and I did have a very pleasant visit though in her high rise apartment. I has a very very nice view.Terri is a nice lady and is a bit apprehensive about her own pending GCS operation coming up soon. She's a sensitive loving lady that cherishes her two sons. It shows. Thank you for the visit and conversation Terri.
Having exhausted my visit list, and in crown distress I headed back to my niece's place as I had promised a couple more days visiting with her. It was somewhere about this time I got another visit request from Anne (Tia) back in Colorado or it may have happened after I got back to Missouri. So I added another to my list. From the onset she invited me to stay the evening with her and her wife Debi. I initially consented to just a few hours but was persuaded to stay the night by the prospect of meeting another of Susan's denizens that sadly did not happen.
But I got ahead of myself. I visited my niece going out to dinner en femme both nights and then returned to Missouri for more servitude as breakfast chef to Peggy and fishing abuse from Jim all en femme still. Several days of this and it was time to head back to Colorado and my stay with Tia and Debi. I found them to be gracious hosts and we went out for lunch, dinner and breakfast in the morning at their local favorite restaurants. I must say I enjoyed each meal they treated me to.and the conversations we had during the whole visit. Again it very very nice to see a couple staying together and working the trails out. Thank you  Tia and Debi I really enjoyed your company.
Onward to Idaho to visit a couple niights with a non forum friend and look at her Mom's and her computers for a couple of minor issues. From there it was time to go home. Kendra had requested to meet and although I do want to meet her I knew that once I got that close to home again, home would be my destination. She is close enough that I will make a special trip to go visit her  very soon. Sorry Kendra.

I've made a special point in thanking Moni as being responsible for causing this road trip to become something special for me and I feel she deserves the credit. But she is not the only one that has made this trip special. I owe each and every one of you that commented on this thread for the encouragements, the suggestion, the friendship and well wishes from those I could not visit. I owe each one of those I did visit for being there for me and wanting to meet,  for the friendship, food, the beds and showers but most of all the sharing of yourselves with me. The same goes for my non forum friends who have accepted me as Laurie.
A very different person left home a little over a month ago than the person that has returned. I feel I left to accomplish my goal of visiting all the states but I feel I also left in search of myself or more specifically  in search of Laurie. I may have found her. She's still pretty shy but  she is present here more than she has ever been. I have not been in male clothes for almost a month now and still going. I think I may be full time now. At least that is what I am going to try. I think Leonard left home in a virtual dress and Laurie has returned.  I could not feel this way without all of you.  Thank you all.

Love,
   Laurie

I'm hoping to make it back to Lexington, KY, in the next month, if all goes well. I've been teaching in Thailand since 2010, but have to return due to health reasons.

Are you going to be near Lexington during your trip?

If not, it's OK, as I'll likely be a guest of my daughter for a while.

Laurie,

You have really impressed me, probably all of us. It has taken an incredible amount of courage and strength to do the things you have done over this past month. Perhaps the biggest hurdle was allowing yourself permission to let Laurie run free. With the sort of growth you have experienced from this trip I look forward to the continued metamorphosis.

Deb and I had tears in our eyes reading your post from last night. We feel honored to have participated in a part of this journey.

Hi Rae,

It's not often I get to hear from you so I am glad you were with me in spirit. Alas we have missed the opportunity to meet as I have returned home and am just closing the chapter on my road trip. I did go through parts of Kentucky though I don't think I got close to Lexington. Perhaps sometime in the future we'll be able to meet while on another road trip. I've been making a couple each year and so far have no good reason to stop.

Have a safe trip back and het those health issues taken care of.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Whew! This is the part where the guy lifts the safety bar and you say "I wanna go again!"

It was a true pleasure meeting you, Laurie. If you get out this way again, we're going to the end of the land...Provincetown.  :)

Hugs, Devlyn

I will take you up on that someday Devlyn. It may be a while but I can see it happening.

I want you to that now when I read your comments I can hear your Boston accent. I really enjoyed our time together even though you dragged me into that city.

Hugs,

You have shown a lot of grace with the intentional misspellings of your name, I don't want to add my finger to the pie.

Thank you,
Tia Anne

Well thank you Tia, and Debi for being a part of my story.  I very much enjoyed the unbridled hospitality you and Debi showed me while I was there. We talk a lot and shared what was important to us thereby giving a part of who we are to each other. Though much of our stories different in experiences there was still that bond of commonality in who we are and what we endured to get to where we are today. The pain and insecurities of growing up different and searching for answers of what was wrong with us that we could not be "normal" I think that is something we all share.
I especially enjoyed my talk with Debi while you were out getting that all important second approval letter. I got to listen to a side of our issues few get to hear. That of the spouse and the impact on them. Debi obviously loves you very much and is solid in that love for you as you are to her. You two have something very special there. Cherish it and her.

Tears? Yes, I've heard that from a few others, so you are in good company. It was not my intent to make anyone cry though.
I assure you I had tears in mine as I was writing this synopsis and my thoughts on this wonderful trip and all of you that made it wonderful for me.

Again I thank you for opening your home and hearts to me.

Hugs,
  Laurie

  I'm sorry Davina,
I was responding to posts above yours when I got side tracked by a BLT (actually 2 of them) and did not get back to this thread until now.

Thank you for the virtual cake is sure looks good but when I tasted some of it there was very little flavor and was reminiscence of glass. Perhaps if it is heated and drenched in butter I will enjoy it more. Oh well next slice.

Grasshopper cake, eewww no thanks.  But Davina's cooking looks yummy.  And she can weld.

Laurie you inspired us all to the point I just had to write a Haiku.   ;)

You ladies flatter me to the point of embarrassment. I truly did nothing more than drive to Maine and back and took the opportunity to meet some of the ladies I talk to here on Susan's Place (and I even blame That Woman Maniac, Moonpie, Melani or whatever she is calling herself for setting that part in motion.) Who wouldn't jump at the chance to meet their new found friends if they could?

Dear Laurie,

I have decided that you inspired me also and I think I must follow in your footsteps. So, since you changed your name, I feel I must do the same. Since you are incapable of pronouncing my name anyway, it all makes sense. It does, after extensive research, seem that you are able to pronounce my new name. I think I will now be called 'HappyThatWoman.'
I will soon ask Devil Lynn to draw up the paperwork to make it official. Of course, my second choice is still kind of appealing. It  was HappySexGoddess. Maybe I better go dilate on it before I decide. Only question is whether or not you can pronounce it.

Dear Milner,

I supposed now would be a good time to confess before you go and do something silly.. I can pronounce your name correctly if I want to. It is completely your fault that I don't. It was your insistence on correcting me that very first time I incorrectly referred to you as Moni (as in the Tommy James and the Shondels song "Moni Moni") that caused this rift between us. Had you not been so adamant that it was Mon-i, as in Connie or Bonnie all this animosity between us would never have developed. May I suggest that you work on that pig headed stubbornness on correct pronunciation of that silly moniker of yours.
Had you not been so self centeredly insistent on correcting those (like myself) who innocently made an extremely minor mistake we might have become fast friends instead of bitter combatants always at each others throats over nothing more than a silly names.
All this makes me ask the question "What's in a name?"  would that the answer for us could have been, "That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." or rather Monica.

*sigh*

Alas it was not meant to be or not to be, I suppose that was the question.

Hugs,
   Laurie

  Hugs,
     Laurie

Are you from Maine?

No I am not Gertrude. Maine was the only state I had not been in. Now I can say I have been in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.  It was a personal goal I set years ago. Not it's done.
