Title: Ever just wish you were a genuine member of your birth sex?
Post by: Nero on May 29, 2008, 07:27:04 PM
Life would just be so much easier if I were the 'real mccoy'.
Any thoughts on this?

Just think of all the challengers you would never of had. Not to mention the boredom of being like everyone else.

So you mean, being a want to be rockstar with a great voice, and looking totaly hot?

NO freaking way!!!!

I Am a rockstar, and I'm even hotter than before so :P on that...  though I really would like the great consistent singing voice for this stage too  :(

It would have had its perks... Id have been a pretty boy though... probably would have skipped all the druggie stuff and all that but... hey... eperiance, if you survive it, is a great thing :)

Yes I did for many years.....until I just accepted the fact that everything in my life always has to be difficult and very tough. After of years of trying to be what everyone wanted me to be which was very hard to do, I just accepted the fact that living with GID was easier then dying trying to repel it. I hope this makes sense.... :)

It's what my mom is trying to make happen.

"Give that girl inside of you a chance."

You know? I can't find her. And maybe if I could, and if I was her, I'd be a lot happier and suffer a lot less. Maybe I would go for that. If there was a magical bagel I could eat that would suddenly make me identify as female, I might just think of eating that bagel for the sake of my happiness, safety, health, and career.

But since there is no magic bagel, I'm not going to try to force myself to be female.

If it was a choice between being cisgendered male and cisgendered female, I'd pick male. I'm a comedian, and being a woman is TOUGH in that industry. My GID seems to be a coincidence with that factor. The fact that I already act masculine and look masculine seems to make me somewhat a good comedian (NOT that girls AREN'T funny, but let's be HONEST with ourselves here...) and I know this since I performed in front of an audience of about 1,000 and I was highly successful... all this playing a male character and more than half of the audience convinced that I was a cisgendered male...

With that aside, I'd also choose to be cismale because in my current state of mind I feel I'd be happier that way. But the truth is that being cis-anything would make the person happy because their gender identity matches their sex.

Sure, life might have been easier, but I am the person I am because of this strange gift, and there are some amazing people in my life because of it. Besides, I already did try living as a male for many years, and it wasn't so great. Being me is much more interesting.  ;D

Sometimes I wish for that, but I know that will never be possible so I am just going to play out the hand that I was dealt.

Maybe, but I'd be so dull, then. I am much better as a neutral minded person with feminine desires.

yeah. Transkids are just screwed all around on the playground. Our birth sex peeps don't want us around and even if our birth gender peeps like us, it's still not the same. Specially around puberty time. Suddenly, the guys won't hang with you cause the pretty girls hate you so they won't be caught dead being your friend.
Yeah, we're pretty screwed. If I sound bitter, it's cause I am.

I always thought I was a guy which is why I called myself a CD for a long time. Now I am letting go and become more relaxed about myself I relise that I am just a member of the human race, ending up female will be a bonus.

What's weird about my childhood was that I was accepted as like one of the boys. They knew I was a girl but they didn't seem to care about the cooties thing. I was "different." My whole life I've had guys tell me, "I don't know what it is, but you're different from the other girls." Haha... if only they knew. And maybe they will one day.

I played with boys and girls about equally, I'd say. Well, maybe the boys a LITTLE more because I played soccer with them a lot.

I used to think no... 'cause then i wouldn't be "me", but right now i'm thinking yes.  It would rock to have gone through this puberty 15 years ago instead of now.  To never have had to deal with that other puberty.

I often think about all the ->-bleeped-<- i've missed out on.  It frakking sucks.  I'm 27 and my life is just starting... wasted too many years.

Have I ever wished that?  Occasionally I'll find myself thinking that it would be so much easier if I actually enjoyed having this roiling river of testosterone flowing through me and making me all manly and whatnot.  My childhood wasn't too terrible though.  I played with the guys because I lived on a farm and outdoorsy pastimes were the norm.  Then I get to thinking about it and I just can't be that guy everyone sees (though at work I'm told I look like a girl from behind which is pretty freaking awesome!) nor would I ever seriously want to be.

I consider being a woman as my birth gender,  not my birth sex.  My birth sex is a birth defect.
All the freaking time, but then again it wouldn't have been as much fun.  And I would probable been a Mom at 16, had I been a girl from the get go.

I can't really get my head around the question. I think it's like asking a cisgendered guy, would you like to have been born a girl and be happy about it? I simply can't imagine it.

Would I like to have been a cisgendered guy, yes. Not that I hate who I am, but got enough challenges in life without this one, but there's no way I'd try and reconcile myself to being female to avoid this challenge.

For me, the ranking would be cis guy then trans guy, then male-bodied androgyne (that's for my wishes, not for what's better or worse for others). Just can't imagine being happy in a female body for me, it was such a misery.

Don't give up too soon, Jenny.

Guys are definitely "icky." Lemme count the ways: sometimes they are rude, usually they don't think of 'dirt' properly (trouble cleaning,) they can be incredibly dense when it comes to personal feelings, etc, they can be clueless about romance and how someone gives herself to another!

But, they can also be wonderful: thoughtful, compassionate, handsome, truly wanting to help and care for others (even if a bit clueless about how to do that,) and they can be fun to feel next to you as well. I've been led to believe that a few are even excellent lovers!! (Now that one I'd beware of if I were you!! There's no independent test results that show that one to be definitely true as yet!! )

So, they are both 'icky' and 'irresistable' depending on the time of day, the time of week, the time of month, the time of year!!

Nichole

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer.  No, but....  Everyone just wants to be normal.  At least I do.  If I were a guy, and happy to be one, I wouldn't be the same person.  I have no idea what the heck I'd be.  A regular old guy without a clue in the world about what was going on around me.

The other thing I try to keep in mind is that everyone has complications in their lives.  The "real McCoys" have a completely different set of problems than we do.  I don't think that means their problems are easier, they're just shared by a larger percentage of the population.   In the end, it just comes down to a question of is the grass really greener on the other side?  The answer IME is, usually not.  There's just different weeds.

So, yes, I definitely wish that sometimes I was just a guy.  But I'm not, and I'm not convinced that that's such a bad thing.  As Bono once said, "F%^# the mainstream"  :)
Hey, it's what I've got.  Take it or leave it.

EXCELLENT point.

I mean, if I was a content female, I'd still say, "My bewbs are too small!" and "My hands are too masculine!" Fortunately, on the flip side, I like these things about myself because I identify as male, but now the issue lies with my very feminine body, which looks very much like this:

I would say yes for a couple of reasons... I'd like to relive ages 8 to about 18... I think that would have been
a kick as Amanda. And I really would have liked to be able to carry children... that would be pretty awesome...
and if I had a choice... I would have liked to have been straight to go along with it.

I too am too thin.  :-X I was 84 lbs for a long time... I think with all this working out (which makes me eat a lot more), I may have gained some weight. But I'm sure I'm still under 90. My doctors say it isn't too unusual, since it runs in my family and I have small bones.

If I was born male, I don't think I'd be a whole lot different... except maybe I'd be more into girls and I'd have the "tough guy" chip on my shoulder because I'm so short... lol.

I used to. I tried pretty hard to construct that identity, since it was what everyone around me seemed to expect of me. (Who am I kidding "seemed to expect" -- it's absolutely what they expected.) I'm pretty much sick of it. I have no desire to be "one of the guys" anymore. I'm just myself, whether I'm playing with the boys or the girls, whatever persona I might be wearing. The trouble is that "myself" is a pretty mixed up pile of confusion and uncertainty these days. I always wanted to be "one of the girls" as long as I had any conception what that meant.

I do wish I never would have had to deal with all this, yeah.

But...eh, I guess I just want to be me. If someone offered to do some kind of brain-feckup so that I would believe I were a normal boy, never thinking I'd ever been otherwise, no repercussions or any remembrance of this at all. No second thoughts...

I would decline.

If someone offered to turn back time, to when I was concieved, to alter something that would make me just a normal boy...

I would decline.

Because...while I do wish I would never have had to deal with this, I -am- dealing with it now, and I -am- hoping that I will get through this and be a better person because of it.

I don't want all this pain and suffering to have been in vain, I really don't.

It's hard to really understand, I guess...I don't understand it either, but right now, I just want to be me. And I'm still in the process of finding out who that is. I couldn't get anyone else to create me, for me.

I guess that one makes sense, actually.

No one else can tell you who you are.

I'm sure I would have just found something else to complain about.
EXCELLENT point.

I mean, if I was a content female, I'd still say, "My bewbs are too small!" and "My hands are too masculine!" Fortunately, on the flip side, I like these things about myself because I identify as male, but now the issue lies with my very feminine body, which looks very much like this:

I think I'm 1 or 2 inches taller than her, maybe...!

I feel like I waste a pretty good body. I know so many girls who'd kill to look like me and I want to bulk it up with T.  :-\

I will TRADE you and I'll pay for the transplant. I had a REALLY great body, it's a little skinny now, but put it back on T and it'll be like brand new. :)

Life would just be so much easier if I were the 'real mccoy'.
Any thoughts on this?

No, I wish my body matched my birth gender, so I'd still be ME mentally.  My mind is male; I never once wished I were a 'real woman'.

Jay

yeah, sounds kind of crazy but for a lot of my childhood, i just wanted to be a normal girl. I used to cry because the other girls wouldn't let me play. LOL

No I can relate... I was always the weird boy in groups of friends even. Its not that I wanted to be a normal boy, its that I REALLY TRIED at some points. I mean... Up til like... This year. I was SO physically fit. I'd obsess over it. Maybe being in denial made me try harder or something... Whatever. I'm so out of shape right now, I can barely go down the stairs after a game of laser tag XD.

i mean your assigned gender. so for a woman, i'm asking if you would rather have just been a normal male than deal with all this.

I like them, because it almost makes me feel like they're peering into my brain and taking a look, and not being like... Scared or anything, and just kind of confidently grinning and knowing or something...

Its kind of reassuring I guess?

*Edited because I read it wrong and had a completely different answer posted up the first time*

No! I, for one, like the girl I am mentally. I would never want to change that part of me. It would change who I am!

Probably more often than men think about sex.

Sometime yes, it means I wouldn't have to go through the pain of telling my 15 yr old son that his dad wants and needs to become a woman. I don't look forward to that day at all and it is coming soon. I also wouldn't give up any of my experiences so far, the ones to come, the great ladies I have met here, and in the world. The challenges that make me a stronger, better person. everything I have learned about myself since fully accepting being ts.

So the answer is no, I don't truly wish that I was a genuine memebr of my birth sex. In fact NO WAY. I love being who I am.

Hugz,
Ariana
