Poll
Question:
How do you identity sexually, gay or straight? Gay is being attracted to the same sex as you, straight the opposite...
Option 1: I'm Straight
Option 2: I'm Gay
Option 3: I'm Bi
Option 4: I'm Asexual
Ok, just curious, I wanted to take a poll and see how male to female TS on this site iidentify sexually. I am including MTF's in this poll because this forum post specifically addressed them. Please vote :) Be honest, nothing to fear, private votes :)
1000% straight! :P
tink :icon_chick:
1000% bi!!
OK maybe that's 500% straight and 500% gay!! >:-)
Nichole
i guess i like it both ways... although i prefer girls more for relationships :3
Damn, I voted the wrong one. FRICK
You missed a category, pansexual! (blah, wikipedia it, it's not what it sounds like )
---
Pansexuality, or omnisexuality[1] is a sexual orientation characterized by the potential for aesthetic attraction, romantic love, or sexual desire for people, regardless of their gender identity or biological sex. Thus, pansexuality includes potential attraction to people who do not fit into the gender binary of male/female. Some pansexuals suggest that they are gender-blind; that gender and sex are insignificant or irrelevant in determining whether they will be sexually attracted to others.[2]

Oh well, bi it is within the categories !

Melan
I was thinking Bi was kind of the same thing. I don't know much about that stuff, sorry. I would have included it if I would have known.
Hi Meghan,
Sorry, I was just being a pest :)
It really is a small category, BI covers it :)
Fun poll, look forward to the results!

Just to make sure -- you're not pulling a Bailey on us and meaning "your sex" as "the sex assigned to you at birth," are you?
Given the available choices, I voted bi, however since I recognize more than two genders...
Z
Totally gay..

Yea, I'm wondering about that as well. :-\ Can the OP make the vote modifiable? I want to change my vote.
hmmmmmmmmmm......
I guess there's no category for "in flux". ;D

There's no bout a doubt it i'm straight.

Actually I voted bi. I still am attracted women, but I am becoming more attracted to guys too. But I am not going to excluded TS/TG. Thus omnisexual.
Maybe just ???

Voted bi, though I also think pansexual would be a better fit. I fall in love with a person, not with a gender.

That hasn't changed & never will! ;)
Only men for me. I'm hetero.
Up until i started HRT i was asexual but now finding I'm starting to lean in other directions, don't know where it will end.

made modifiable. (Meghan , do you wish me to change it back after je votes?)
Voted gay, as in lesbian. I tried men and there was no spark at all, and all we did was kiss. Don't like beards or stubble or body hair or rough skin. Besides, my wardrobe almost doubled when I became romantically involved, not to mention jewelry & cosmetics! ;D

You aren't alone Paula! HRT changed, well evolved, my preference.. it's odd, I never found men attractive until about a year on HRT. I still adore and am attracted to women, but have actually connected with a man, and 7 months later dating and still with him, have had my longest running relationship with a person of any gender (or non-gender ;) ), and loving it.
To think further into it, I'm not sure if HRT actually changed my preference, or that the changes in my body and mind made it more acceptable to me. *raises hand*, psychoanalysis over here please! *snaps fingers*
My philosophy is just go with what makes you happy, life is too short to accept artificial boundaries.

A term that is gaining acceptance as "pansexual", at least in certain communities. Wikipedia it ;)

I'm asexual.
Hehehe. Cool stats. And they correspond almost exactly to what psychology and those arousal experiments predict. Except there are about twice as many asexual people here as is predicted for the general population.
We're normal, peoples! Actually, MORE normal than cisgendered people! Celebrate! ;D :P
Mina.
I am pansexual so I voted bi.

Funny, I was having just this conversation with my doctor on Friday, whilst he was trying to establish whether or not I wanted SRS.
When I saw him first, three years ago and pre hormones, I told him that as a man I was heterosexual insofar as I had any interest in sex at all or indeed much conviction as to being male. Now, over 2 years into HRT and post transition, I would identify as female and flexible, perhaps best described as pansexual, with some preference for GG's or other TG's.......but, hey, as this whole business blurs the boundaries of gender and sexuality so much, who knows how one's going to feel in the future.

What Julie said.
Although I did feel a spark. But a spark doesn't always a fire make.
I've been married to a totally awesome guy, who I love dearly, for nearly thirteen years... but I'm still a lesbian.
I voted bi because you thought it was the same as pansexual. I have only been with women so far because before I started accepting who I was I was so far in the closet about everything I could have come out wearing someones flower child outfit from the sixties and when I came out I was already married to my partner. but I would be attracted to my partner no matter what gender she was and no matter what gender she ever decieded to present as. I have alot of varied fanties for many different types so as long as it is fun and interesting I am willing (I am not a slut I am just very very friendly!)

You've really never heard of anyone married to to a person of the opposite sex being gay? My husband and I love each other very much, trust each other completely, and we're best friends and soul-mates. But we don't have a sexual relationship. That "spark" is only there for me with other women. This does put us in a somewhat unusual situation but so far it has worked pretty well for us. We have our ups and downs like anybody else but we've stuck together for a long time.
Hopefully that helps clear things up a little for you ;)
I have been asexual since i transitioned and broke up with another sister after she left me because i had my GRS in dec 98. I do still hope to find true love with another sister or a FTM.
Thanks for explaining. I was just wondering because of the unusualness. I guess being unusual means always having to explain oneself.
No problem, I've had a lot of practice.
Heterosexual gal here.

Paula.
Sorta the same for me. Don't know if asexual is the right word for me. Celibate would be more appropriate. Anyway I was "asexual" for the most part of my transition until I had GCS and then everything changed. I'm attracted to blokes now so by definition that'd make me hetero.
I'm pre-everything currently -- for a long time I would have said lesbian without a doubt, but I've been trying to be open minded lately so I'm not writing the guys off yet. It's more of a sex thing though... I can see myself as a girl having sex with a guy, but I can't really see myself having a lasting relationship with a guy.
I might as well say gay, since after my SRS and become a lesbian.
First post! :D
Me I'm Bi, never really fancied Straight women or Gay guys, no idea why...
Probably prefer women to men 70% to 30% sexually and 100% to 0% any other way wise!

I'm pre-everything, but up to this point I've been "pansexual" while favoring genetic and trans women somewhat over trans men and genetic men... I don't know if this will change if/when I transition from male to female..
Hey sorry, (not sure if I am allowed to post here) I didn't take the poll as for I am not a MTF person.
However I just wanted to comment on the pansexual because apparently I always have been pansexual or queer I just never knew because I never heard those terms until just this past year, for the past 10 years I have gone by 'bi-sexual' but not because I felt I was because someone told me I was and I just never disagreed with them. I am glad there are more terms now than the original two terms of you are straight or you are a freak. Love how we are all different and accepting!
bi, but picky.. and prefers girls for relationships... currently happily taken :D
Trysexual.
I'll try anything :D
Hetero gal all the way!
Sex is not very important to me. If I feel comfortable with another person well enough to have sex, gender is not an issue.
before hormones i was attracted to women, however after hormones i find an attraction to men to be stronger. one thing i need to point out is that because of the spiro i no longer have a sex drive or any desire for sex. what i'm lookingfor is itamacy and companionship.
Interesting poll, Meghan.
In general, I have very little sex drive - both now and in the "before days." Probably a result of controlling my emotions as a child. When it comes out, it tends to come out in a rush. Very Vulcan, I guess.
As a general statement, I find myself attracted towards women.
However, I will admit to being attracted towards a gentleman who is ftm. I was chatting with a few other women of the Rochester Transgender Group (RTG) during Empire Pride's Spring Dinner. While at the dessert bar, Pat walked over and joined us. He is also a member of RTG, though work nowadays forces both of us to miss a lot of meetings. While we were chatting, part of my mind said, "I wouldn't mind waking up next to him."
That was an absolute first that caught me totally off guard.

The way you describe your experience is slightly at odds whith how I would describe my own -- that is, I experience something similar enough that I can see where you're coming from, but I would put it in a very different way.
I haven't found the slightest hint of sexual attraction to me; if anything, it has decreased from the already low level it might ever have been at. But as I move out of the masculine sphere, I find I can appreciate the "otherness" of men a little more now that I am myself recognized as "other" than them. I see that as much more a social change than hormonal.
As to sex drive, it's more like sex cruise control. A beautiful and attractive woman is still every bit as beautiful and attractive. The only difference is that seeing one beautiful women doesn't now distract me from everything else to the extent it did before. I was always primarily looking for intimacy and companionship much more than just sex.
I'm straight (mtf) but I am attracted to women. If I go thru transition, I am open to possibly being attracted to men in the future but I can't imagine it right now.
Asexual, I don't like males or females. I just don't find sex important; Society and the media put to much pressure on it and I just find it lame. How many times can you do the deed without being bored. It's dumb...Fine make kids and keep the human pop. going but I don't want any part of it.
Where is tri-sexual? ::)
I love humans.. i mean sex is just a small part in a relationship and if you're together with the right person it will be fine. dosnt metter if guy, woman or trans...

Look up sapiosexual, omnisexual or pansexual.
I guess I am a straight man and a straight woman... haha :)
I'm about 50/50 bisexual... although I think I tend to be more capable of emotionally bonding with female-identified individuals than male-identified ones.
Lesbian. Now that I have small breasts I love having my partner play with them. It is all about foreplay now. I know what my new buttons are and now I know how to really push hers. Being with a boy would be being with someone who had no idea about what my body is like. You can't explain it you have to feel it.
Bi since 12yrs old, when I found out males can have sex w/ males too. HRT boosted penile sensitivity and vaginal sex became my fav. Later, when the rest of my body caught up, I hungered for long foreplay. lisadear and others, I know what you mean.mmm.... yup, rubbery legs. Women and MTF in HRT knows best.
For love, sex and FRIENDSHIP, I've always been attracted to fem-males and butch-females since I was 12.
I'm only attracted sexually to CDs or TVs w/ thin or small 'clittie'

Straight.
However, I find myself more excited when I think of myself in the female role!

This is fascinating,
Identify myself as Bi - but having read this thread I think Pansexuall would now describe me better. I hate being put into catagories however, so perhapse a bit of an oxy-moron then ??
now I'm confused
Love & light
Lisa xx
defiantly 100% bi
When I was in 3rd grade, I liked girls and I thought I was one. Then everyone else got involved.
Now I can say that I still like women, and women like me. (transbian)
i am 100% straight
I identify as Bi
I'm more attracted to women then men but I enjoy both :)
I'm into boys that I know of..... i'm not into other girls... the idea isnt very interesting to me.
Before i transitioned, i wasnt interested in anyone, when i started to finally fit in, my mind opened to the posibility of romance.... boys sortof... apeared as my 'girl puberty' took hold... the rest is history....
Very Bi! I like everyone. Boys Girls and all points in between. :)
I'm a big fan of girls, myself. Cute and feminine makes me melt (and act cute and feminine myself! :D)
I could possibly like boys, but my ideal is quite unlikely; they'd have to be really feminine, blurred-gender-line type. I don't believe I have actually met such a boy in the real world...
Likeable girls are much easier to find, as society is not actively destroying them on sight.
I am attracted to women and also certain types of men, mainly femme men. Which means I am attracted to trans people with bodies like mine.
I am asexual...
Polysexual.
I chose bi in the list because it is the closest to which I identify.
I must iterate here, Bi as far as sexual activities go, but relationships are far more comfortable with women. Maybe I just haven't found the "right" man yet ::)
Some day :icon_love:, Evie
I'm a lesbian in terms of sexual and romantic attraction, but in practice I'm involuntary celibate/asexual and "mostly virgin" because I've got the wrong body...
Think I'm probably asexual as well.
I've accepted I'm gay, but would really prefer to say I'm a straight female.
C'est la vie
I'm not sexually attracted to either sex. I hate all people equally. ;D
Actually if I look at what I have been doing lately, celibate as you can get!!
Now that I know where I am headed I still consider myself bisexual, but have no interest in sex with a man until after SRS, whenever that eventually happens. So I guess I am some sort of"transbian-in-waiting".
I'm gay, I like females. Men do nothing for me.
Helllllla bi! Girlies drive me up the wall. I think I'm more apt to be in a relationship with another girl though. Dudes are hot too!
Men and women... Both can be incredibly seductive. Straight men are the worst... They can't express themselves unless they are drunk.
