We won't go into exactly how many wigs I have, but I have been CDing 10 years and another 4 now of knowing I am TS. IRL experience, as said, go to an actual wig store and enjoy yourself. Some stores sell wigs to people with medical conditions (which you have) and will set up personal appointments that will be very pleasant. Shops like that will be pretty chilly if you show up without an appointment since they also have alopeica ariata, and chemo therapy clients that are even more private than you are. Unless you can get a nerve buddy to go with you though, they are the best.
A cheap human hair wig will look CHEAP and WIGGY and not something you want to go out in. Some of the less expensive synthetic wigs on the other end, will look wiggy, but also make you look like a GG who is out having fun IF YOU TAKE CARE OF THEM and have a grin on your face. The hair in my avatar is one of my favorite synthetic wigs, and I liked it so much that now I am full time, I colored my own hair to match its color. It matches my eyes nicely.
Lace front wigs do not have to be attached with an adhesive, but they and all wigs have to be appropriately positioned on your head, and bangs or a fringe need to be cut to your eyes. For MtF, the position is just barely in front of your natural hair line before MPB set in. Down too far on your forehead, which is a common malady among early stage CD's or TS ruins both your face and hair. Too far back and it looks like a wig on a guy which defeats the purpose.
I have used online wig sites, but that was after I found brands of wigs that I liked, Revlon, Louie Ferre, and Jon Renau are the three I prefer. When I get an online wig, I make sure it is appropriately labeled and boxed, and then take it to a beauty salon for shaping to my face.
WilshireWigs.com,
Wigs.com, and Ace
Wigs.com are three sites I have used with good luck, and all carry about the same stock and get the stuff out in days. Shop online to get an idea of styles you would like, and then go to a brick and mortar store and see if they have them, or they can get them.
Good luck on getting some cute locks!!
