Hmmm, very interesting. I'll have to do some research on injectables. If they can bypass my liver, then things would work out better! I'm sorry Renae to hear that you don't plan to have GRS done. There is always the option of an being castrated.

No need to be sorry for me. :) I can't see spending that much money on something that is purely cosmetic.

Yes, and if you would like to discuss this topic please start a new thread so we aren't hi-jacking this one. :)

Surely vaginoplasty is anything but cosmetic ??? ?

To all TS women I've met it is or its been so neccessary for them to feel complete, to make "body match brain" as the cliche goes ... to feel "passable" in all situations ... to be accepted seriously as a woman by natal women ... more often than not to allow them to function sexually as women and form relationships not possible when genitally "male" ....

No offence Renae, but I've copied this to a new thread as I don't think a "TG woman" should make an "offhand" statment so dismissive about TS women and their goals without explaining her reasoning and an opportunity being given to at least discuss it ?

So why did you lock this thread?

I'd like to reply to Laura in her thread, not yours. Are you on some kind of power trip or something? Not only do I not agree with your point of view, I don't appreciate you trying to ram it down my throat. Some opinions are better kept to yourself.

Thank you for your replies to this post, and I will just deviate a bit and will address this new topic. I feel that GRS would be considered cosmetic, just like lasic surgery. Unfortunately there are a lot of procedures these days that are considered 'cosmetic', and more or less it will cost us more becuase it's not going through our insurance.

Now Laura, I really like your way of thinking, and I do tend to agree with you that the final step in our transitioning should be GRS, so that we can feel more like a woman and to be accepted seriously as a woman by natal women. But on the other hand, some TS women get it done for  sexual reasons and not for the physical purpose.

I will be reading the new thread . . .

Gina, what's the difference between "sexual reasons and physical purpose"  :-\  ?

One of the big reasons I needed to have SRS was so that I could have a sexual relationship (with the right guy when I find him) ... is that not a sexual reason ??? ?

If you haven't seen the new thread (best ever on this forum for debating such a key issue) then you'll find it gone ... wiped by powers to be for reasons I can't fathom ...

(P.S. will reply to you're PM soon ... just that I'm sooo busy !)

I am pre-op (after October I will be post-op)and I have to tell you I am very sexualy active. I can't explain it but usualy towards the end of the month I want it bad. I just want to be held in someones arms and be kissed all over. I have been on HRT for over 2 years now by a doctor. I was no stranger to HRT before him. It is not recommended.

High levels of estrogen in a women's cycle lead to increase desire for sex.
Its a biological thing, a women needs to mate when they are fertile and nature has made sure
that this will happen  :).

If your HRT levels of estrogen are high enough, you'll get an increased libido all the time
(since your level does not fluctuate). I saw that myself when I increased my estrogen level.

We are animals, at least I am, after all  ;D

At menopause, women often see their libido flagging because their estrogen levels go way down.
Even in men, estrogen (converted through aromatase from testosterone) plays a role in libido.
A man needs both T and E to be really aroused (interesting isn't it :-).

Estrogen has many role in a male body, most man are more of a "women" than they know  ;)

To me and a lot of transwomen, the notion of sex pre-op is not very appealing and ultimately unfulfilling. So having the right parts post-op may lead to a higher sex drive because of psychological reasons as well.

I am bi but while I was actively sexually addictive, I engaged with men because they were so readily available. Having sex with ->-bleeped-<- ->-bleeped-<-s lowered my self-esteem and sex with women was totally unsatisfying as that thing never came into play and it was just about me satisfying them, still a much more satisfying experience than being with guys (for me) and one that didn't rob me of my self-esteem.

I now have a couple relationships with women that seem to be heading into something more than platonic. It is kinda frustrating as I feel the need to consciously keep these from blossoming until I get back. As time grows closer though, the frustration wanes and its replaced by anticipation of things that will be. Like inviting my buddy to exercise with me and spending some time in the sauna with her.

I mean little things like this, or not having to worry about covering up in the ladies locker room when I change...

Thanks Laura for your insightfulness. I do realize that there is a difference between 'sexual reasons' and physical purposes'. All I was merly pointing out was that some TS women get SRS to feel more comfortable with themselves and others that are involved in a relationship get it done for sexual reasons.  As for me, and this is something that I've talked with my social worker about is that first I'm a non-op (and I'm comfortable with that) and I don't really feel the need for SRS to be complete. I look forward to receiving your PM.

I wish you lots of luck with your upcoming SRS Deb. May I ask who your surgeon is?

That's very interesting Keira about how if you've been on estrogen (for a long time) that your libido is increased. Now that was something that I was somewhat aware of, because like I said previously, that after minimizing your testosterone, that your estrogen level will go up.

Hey Melissa, for a while, I thought that I was bi-sexual, but it's more a mind set thing, not that I'm denying that you are or that you're not bi-sexual. You see, when I'm my female self (on the exterior), I tend to be attracted more to guys, but I also have a very understanding and supportive GF and I do tend to be swayed by her more, and so I'm more attracted to her.  ???
