Otherwise I might just have to put on some protection as we have 6 hours to go here in OZ.

Should we start another last to post? I still say I was winning....

At the risk of sounding overzealous about what can be a very silly programme indeed, Doctor Who transcends gender and is about being human. It's about the romantic notion of being able to jump into a magic blue box and go to any place or time where your morals and courage are tested and the forces of right usually win based on little more then their intellect and resilience.

It is a show that has been around for 50 years this November and it is about a humanoid alien who travels through time and space with various companions in a time/spaceship that is seemingly forever stuck in the disguise of a blue london police box, he battles mostly with his wits against various monsters both human and alien to solve problems at the location of where he winds up(no control on where he goes) very rarely resorting to being physically involved(in theory) aside from sometimes a little sabotage, he has been played(officially) by 11 actors to date with each version having a different personality and appearance while in essence still being the same person he was originally. His mainstay villains(again some human) are Daleks, Cybermen(my favorite), Silurians to name a few and the new series will see the return of a classic monster/villain not seen since 1974 in the 3rd doctor's penultimate story.

Oh and nowadays there is alot of running.

last night, better than feared but not quite as good as I'd hoped from a season opener, still there's a lot of pluses and the ending felt earned and not like it was a random last-minute addition, I hope to see where the next seven episodes go from here...

Is there something relevant to being transgender on Dr. Who?

Only at the very end of a non-canonical comedy spoof from the 90s:

John Smith

There's been references to being gay and transgender in the show, always very matter of factly and no fuss. Me like.

Went and got me a ticker, so everytime I post I'm reminded to put down whatever I was about to eat. >.>

Just watched the season premiere ep last night, and as usual I spent the entire time thinking something along the lines of: "HOLYMOTHEROFCOWSTHISISFREAKINGAMAZINGILOVETHISSHOWSOMUCHIT'SNOTEVENFUNNY".

Seriously, that was great. Can't wait for the next episode  ;D

I don't know. I found the Doctor's relationship to his new companion to be... creepy stalkerish. Like, Edward/Bella creepy.

  •

Liminal Stranger

I don't see it at that level of creepy just yet and I hope they don't go there. But I liked the whole idea of wifi soup. Sounds delicious :P

Wasn't sure if that had been completely validated and not just bbc magazine jumping the gun but yes apparently David Tennant and Billy Piper are signed on to return for the special.

Might be Rose and The Meta-Crisis Doctor John Smith we see though. Unless they do classic and have it be ten and rose from earlier in their season together so like pre-Dalek and Cybermen invasion.
