Alrighty, so I couldn't find something specific enough on this through the internet to give me an adequate answer.

My birthname is still my legal name, and I haven't had a chance to change it, but I use my chosen name everywhere, including my acting resume. I put my legal name at the very top in bold print, and then put in parenthesis my chosen name, and I go by my chosen name. I worked as an extra not long ago, and just received my check today, but it came with my chosen name. I'm concerned that I won't be able to deposit it. I've been with this bank since I was seventeen, and I've been with this specific location for at least four years, they know me really well down there, but they don't know that I'm getting a sex change. I definitely plan on asking, and I tried to find the letter from my therapist since it states both my birth name, and my chosen name. But I don't know if they would be willing to work around me if I just blurt out, "The names are different because I am a transsexual and am going through a sex-change, and the person paying me forgot that I go by a different name,"

Thoughts anyone?

I suppose that I could contact the woman who paid me and explain that I need the birthname on the check in order to deposit it.

I'm not sure if it would work for you but my ex used to deposit my checks into her account at the ATM with no issues. This was before I had a name change or a bank account and really didn't like showing my ID anywhere. At first they put a 10 day hold on the money to make sure the check cleared but after that there were no issues with her depositing them and then she would give me the cash.

I just use the ATM. Haven't had problems with US Bank other than the usual 1 business day until it's all available.

There is a very simple procedure for this.  When you endorse the check, first endorse with the name the check is written too, and below that endorse with the name of the account you wish to deposit it into.

When a person endorses a check they guarantee (endorse) that the check will be good or they promise to back it up.  Although it is seldom done a check that was endorsed in blank could be passed around like cash.

That's true!  I had to sign over the down-payment check when I bought my home.

Of course I'm sane.  When trees start talking to me, I don't talk back.
