but she's dead. Or is it timey-wimey-wibbly-wobbly?

But, let's work this out using already established facts:

In "Let's Kill Hitler" River passes all of her regenerations to the Doctor in order to save his life
this could have introduced some of her (let's say soul for want of a better word) to mix with the Doctor's, and will allow  him to regenerate based on her physical and probably mental template. (Remember how well she can handle the TARDIS and just how will/did she learn this that's certainly time-wimey-wibbly-wobbly at work)  as well as an explanation for additional regenerations beyond the 13 that has been cannon for Doctor Who.

In "A Good Man Goes to War" The Doctor asks River "Who are You? in response she places his hand on the cot he told Amy and Rory was his (he got it out to put Melody Pond's flesh avatar in, though at this point they don't know she's an avatar) and a few meaningful glances are passed between them and he then says "but that means you and I..." and then a lot of unfinished sentences later he's "over the moon" as he gets into his TARDIS at this point he really knows who River is and is certain that she will be OK.

In "The Name of the Doctor" she says " If I'm supposed to be connected to Clara then what am I still doing here?" and then leaves on "Spoilers, Good bye sweetie."

As spoilers go this is a doozie and one that has been foreshadowed copiously as I have just mentioned. Therefore I am certain that River will be the Doctor.

point of logic, River didn't give the Doctor quite everything, she kept just enough regeneration energy to slowly age backwards as she grew older (to account for Alex filming her stories pretty much in reverse order to the show)

Can I cast my vote for the next Doctor being played by Brian Blessed, I don't care about his age, he's just the best actor ever & would really make the role his own.
If I can't have Brian then i'd like to see Eddie Izzard as the Doctor

Apparently about 90 lost episodes have been discovered! Confirmed by Ian Levine on Twitter!

Yay!  Now I have to find them and watch them all!  Do you know if they found the missing bits of "The Tenth Planet"?

It is still very much rumor at the moment but is starting to look like it could be true.

Oh, my God, I second that! That would be incredible.

interesting article in the S->-bleeped-<-horpe Telegraph.  Maybe a ginger Doctor finally.  Oh and the Doctor maybe female.

Apparently Matt Smith is somewhere in Detroit!  Part of me wants to hop into my car to try tracking him down...

You will be hard pressed if she becomes the new Doctor.

And here I sit, a hopeless Tom Baker fan. I hear that most Brits don't care for him.

I would not look forward to the Doctor being female.

Baker was my favorite Doctor.  Care for a Jelly baby?

Yes, yes LordKAT that was his fault. He was such a clown, i am not looking forward to being him or that dandy guy. But don't we all have our faults? I for example care too much for my granddaughter, for my dear Susan.

Who knows which Doctor i just imitated.

Patrick troughten introduced that trait so blame him. If it were me I'd have gummi bears instead.
